We both went back to sleep after I reassured her that everything is okay. I kind of expected her to be concerned about me since I've been by her side since we left.
It's just not the easiest thing to figure out but I guess tomorrow we'll be heading for Nexus, it'll be quite a bit of traveling.
With those final thoughts he finally drifted off completely, the night passed by without anything else really happening. Morning quickly arrived and the sun began to shine through the windows, illuminating the room.
It truly was the best way to start the day everyday.
Thump. Thump. Waking up to the rough feeling of my heart beating out of my chest was definitely something. I couldn't understand why I was having a reaction like that when waking up today.
Maybe it's because we are going to be leaving for Nexus, but that's quite an interesting feeling to have when we're just leaving this place.
"Good morning." Amelia says with a smile on her face.
She didn't notice that I had my hand on my chest which is good, what if it's a side effect from the power I chose? That's something I didn't think to consider.
He moves his hand off of his chest and faces her. "Good morning. I think heading for Nexus today could be more beneficial." Artemis suggests.
Us leaving today would be more ideal so that we could get even further ahead of the storm that's coming. "It would be a smart move. Alright, I'll grab my stuff." Amelia responds as she gets out of bed.
With that last sentence she rushed out of the room to finish getting her stuff ready for the trip ahead. Of course Artemis did the same thing since they didn't want to waste anymore time here.
Burying everything that happened in my previous life is probably the best thing to do for now. Just like the things that happened before we got here, it's all got to be buried for the time being.
It'll make things a lot easier moving forward if I bury it deep in the back of my head until I'm ready to deal with it. Killing will never be an easy thing for me to do in this world either, but it seems that it won't be avoidable with all people.
Moving on isn't the easiest thing to do, regardless of what world I'm in. But you can do this Yori, no. I'm Artemis now, though my last name has been quite a blur since then.
I can't even remember my family's last name in this world so I guess that means I have even more questions for the goddess.
Learning her name would also make it a lot easier when I want to refer to her in any sort of way. I'm sure there's a good reason for her to avoid telling me it right now.
Artemis and Amelia finish getting everything ready to go but her uncle was definitely quite curious on why they wanted to leave so suddenly. They didn't really talk about it much in front of him, so it was definitely something that would make him suspicious.
It wasn't because he had any sort of ill intent, it was mostly because they don't know who's watching over things. Someone could've been tailing them or maybe he had some sort of part in the recent events.
Neither of them knew. The only thing that they knew is that the two of them were in this together for now.
An hour goes by before they both head downstairs to depart.
The uncle was standing in the main hall by the door with a girl that neither of them had seen during their stay. "It'll be sad to see you go Amelia. I wouldn't want anything to happen to you so I gathered one of my personal guards to help you on the journey." Marcelo says with a concerned expression on his face.
The woman standing next to him has long curly blonde hair that reaches past her shoulders a bit, she appeared to be wearing some sort of knight like armor that has a silver tint to it, several different engravings.
It was clear that she used to be an actual knight for some sort of royalty.
I can't say that I'm surprised that he'd want to send someone else along with us since he doesn't know me all that well. Even with me staying as long as I did here, I'm not family.
She was yet another beautiful girl that would be joining me on this journey. I wouldn't object to multiple women being at my side in this world, but maybe that's just because I'm a mess.
Amelia seemed to have a surprised expression on her face. "I appreciate your concern Uncle Marcelo, but I promise we'll be fine." Amelia speaks with a bit of nervousness in her voice.
I don't think she wants the girl to join us on the journey but it could be helpful to have someone with more experience. I just barely managed to beat the last guy I fought so I don't know if I could handle multiple enemies.
I've also got no idea how to use any of my magic or even much about my power. I know the general idea of both of them but that's about it.
"Cynthia will be joining you regardless, I'm afraid that wasn't much of a choice. I won't let more of my family die." Marcelo responds with a more serious tone.
At least he cares about her safety, that always felt like a rare thing to experience in my life. I'd love to have that feeling of concern from anyone again, but sadly I lost the only people that would give that to me.
Amelia seems to care about what happens to me, yet it's not the same type of feeling. My family in this world genuinely cares about me more than my previous life so it would've been nice if they survived.
Amelia lets out a sigh before speaking. "Fine, I appreciate your concern for my safety." Amelia says with a more understanding tone in her voice.
A party of three now.
