Chapter 16 - Goddess of Death

Shimada was quite shocked by what Artemis just told him but it wasn't anything surprising to him. "The Group worships the goddess of death and believe that killing royalty will give them eternal wealth. It's also a way of eliminating the wealthy in the world too. It contradicts a lot with the two meanings but they don't care." Shimada explains a bit.

A group killing the wealthy for their own gain but with the sole purpose of getting rid of the wealthy, what the hell kind of shit is that?

"I don't think that's the sole goal. Revival of the Goddess of death is the main goal. No one knows how it's done yet but we know it's something they've been trying to do." Shimada continues on.

Reviving a goddess of death doesn't sound like the greatest thing to do, so what will that do for the world exactly is the question I have. I mean there's not much to think about when it comes to death since it kind of explains itself.

"We don't want that to happen I presume." Artemis speaks while keeping a serious tone.

Shimada nods. "The Goddess of death was the one God that didn't get a chance to be on the board that helps with giving people their gifts." Shimada explains.

She wasn't given the chance to help with deciding such important things, no wonder she's relying on her followers to help bring her back. There must've been a good reason for her to be off of the board, otherwise she wouldn't be in this predicament.

So basically a cult of worshippers that just want to kill off Royalty and who want to resurrect the goddess of death. I have a hard time understanding such a thing since I've heard of groups with way worse intentions in my previous life.

Like people starting wars or taking over the world kind of goals. Not that this isn't a big thing to be concerned about.

Knock. Knock. Someone was outside the door. "I didn't think anyone would know of this location. How odd." Shimada says before standing up.

He quickly drew his sword and went over to the door. It appears that he was waiting to see if they knocked again or if they would say something perhaps. "You in there Artemis?" A familiar voice asks from behind the door.

Either Amelia or Cynthia are behind that door, I can't say that I'm surprised that they found me. Amelia has a connection to me because of the pact so that makes sense, she might've used it to find me.

Shimada looks back at me and then opens the door. "Friends of his I presume?" Shimada questions with a smirk on his face.

Both Amelia and Cynthia were standing there with more of a serious look across their faces. "Yeah. Who are you?" Cynthia speaks before Amelia can.

He gives a slight bow. "Shimada Kazuki at your service ladies." He responds playfully.

Oh, he's one of those guys. Great.

"Can we just come in?" Cynthia says while ignoring his playful tone.

He moves aside and lets them enter into the room. They both seemed to be a bit surprised by the fact that he wasn't chained down or anything. "What's going on exactly?" Amelia speaks up with a bit of concern in her voice.

"I was trying to figure some stuff out by asking around. Shimada happened to be helpful in that endeavor." Artemis answers with an honest tone in his voice.

That guy is just giving a weird smile from across the room as he admires them, how weird.

"We found the note but it was a little concerning since we aren't from here. I'm glad you're okay at least." Amelia says with a bit of relief in her voice.

I'm happy she didn't pry more about the information, but she does have a pretty valid point there. It's an area that none of us are really familiar with so it would be best not to split up.

"Interesting. You have quite an interesting group, dare I say." Shimada interrupts. He appears to be quite intrigued by the group before him.

"Thanks Shimada. I think I've got all I need, I appreciate it." Artemis responds while standing up.

He had put his weapon away and crossed his arms. "Nonsense. Surely you have an idea of where to go right?" He asks with a curious look on his face.

Of course we don't have a single idea on where we are heading but we would've figured it out. I'm sure Amelia had an idea on a place to go when we board the ship.

"Not a clue actually." Amelia chimes in with a blunt tone.

Damnit Amelia...

"I'll be more than happy to show you the place to go. Artemis gave me an idea anyway. We can leave aboard my personal ship." Shimada says with a bit of excitement in his voice.

This guy is a lot weirder than I expected him to be, yet he might actually be a useful person to have for now. If he can point us in the right direction then this won't be so bad.

"Sure." Cynthia speaks before either of them can.

The newest member of the group answers for us, how lovely. I can tell that this journey is only going to get better and better as we move forward.

People just making decisions without giving us a chance to actually decide will only make things more interesting in the long run, right?

Shimada heads back with them to the Golden Apple after that. The group gets everything they need before heading for the docks. The fun plans for exploring everything in the city would be cut short due to the luck of finding someone who could help.

As odd as he may be, he would definitely be a good helping hand in figuring out the next move.

(Down by the docks. One ship stood out the most.)

I'm assuming this must be his.
