Artemis fell asleep while thinking about what he was going to choose, but once again he found himself in the same landscape as last time. A beautiful field of flowers with a single table ahead of him, the woman from before was sitting there drinking tea.
Why did I have a feeling that I'd be brought here once again, especially after considering what I might do or what I might be choosing. This woman's timing is definitely something, that's for sure.
I can't say that it's bad or anything though since she might be able to help me with this whole thing. I could get some insight on if the power I desire is a good choice or not.
Her gaze was already aimed at him as she took another sip of her tea. "Take a seat Yori. We do have things to talk about." She says with a slight smile on her face.
I didn't see a reason to deny taking a seat with her at the table but I was definitely pretty confused. Last time I was here she had said that we wouldn't meet again for quite some time.
It's only been a week or two since I've last seen her so maybe this is a good sign for me to be here. Or maybe it was longer, I can't quite remember the whole thing.
As he takes a seat he begins to observe the woman's expressions. "I didn't think I'd be seeing you so soon again." Yori speaks with a bit of a surprised tone in his voice.
(Author here, Any time he is in the dreams with the woman he will be referred to as Yori. As that's how he is seen by her and it's how she found him.)
"You're making a decision on your magic and even a potential power so of course I'd bring you here." She responds with excitement in her voice.
I'll never know what she's expecting of me but what I do know is that I'm bound to Amelia until the pact is gone. Protecting her is the only thing that is keeping me going for the time being.
Well, I do yearn for more knowledge as well. Learning even more about the world and everything within it is the other thing that keeps me going.
He looks up towards the sky before speaking. "I believe I'd like to be able to use shadow magic or power, whatever it is that I'm given the ability to use. But that's not the only thing I'm asking for. With the abilities to utilize that kind of magic I'd like to ask for the power to return from death, even if there's some sort of kick back from it." Yori explains while continuing to stare at the bright blue skies.
She ponders on what he just said to her as it's the first time in a long time that someone's asked for the power to return from death. It's something that does come with quite the cost though. It'll return the person before a certain point of time and the person can't exactly share this information with anyone.
On top of having the powers of darkness which is exactly what the shadows are considered to be, it'll be a ruthless combination.
I could tell that she was really thinking about what I'm asking for here but if she is a goddess, then this is the best approach. I'm sure it won't be the worst thing in the world to ask for.
I've got no clue how far I can utilize the darkness and I've got no idea how I'll be able to utilize the power to return from death.
Yori doesn't know how any of the magic or how the power itself works. Of course some things will be told to him, but others he'll have to experience for himself.
A grin remains on her face as she finally begins to speak. "I think you've made quite the choice. You couldn't have gone with anything better to truly make yourself a slave to the world. Yes I'm a goddess and one of the highest ranking ones at that, I grant your request." The Woman speaks with a more serious tone, even with the smile on her face.
I'm not entirely sure I know how to respond to her about it since I wasn't expecting to be right about her. Nothing wrong with thanking her at the very least then. "Thank you." Yori responds with a sincere tone in his voice.
It didn't slip past me that she said I was truly giving in to being a slave to the world but this was the choice I went with. Maybe I can become powerful with all of this and then it won't matter if I'm looked at as a slave.
Her dark purple eyes began to glow as the ground started to shake all around them. "No need to thank me Yori. Just remember that this is what you wanted and that it won't be an easy endeavor whatsoever." The Woman warns.
She's definitely right that it won't be easy at all since I'm choosing quite the mix of magic and power. I'll be sure to get stronger no matter what, even if it takes me a few deaths to get there in the process.
Death will definitely be something that I never get used to so this road is definitely going to leave me with a lot of grief.
Everything disappears around him as he jolts up in his bed. "Huff. Huff." Artemis lets out a few breaths of air as he calms down.
I don't know why it felt like I was waking up from a nightmare but at least I've got everything decided. I'll become powerful with the choices I've made no matter what.
"Are you okay?" Amelia asks as she looks up at him.
I completely forgot that she was in bed with me tonight. "Yeah, everything is okay. It was just a bad dream." Artemis answers.
