Her eyes fixated on him once more, the smile on her face just didn't seem to disappear. "I knew you were smart so it gets me even more excited." The Goddess says with joy in her voice.
It's hard to determine if I should be worried or not about this is excitement of hers. She seems to have good intentions towards me so far but I can't really say for certain.
"Was there any real purpose to this visit? I didn't learn your name and you just appear to be enjoying yourself." Yori speaks with a bit of confusion in his voice.
"Yori I enjoy your presence. So maybe I'll bring you more, is that really so bad?" She asks with a bit of sadness in her voice.
She's definitely trying to make me feel bad about asking that now, isn't she? "No. It would be nice to learn some stuff when coming here is all I'm saying." Yori responds while shifting his gaze towards the distant horizon.
I can't complain about the scenery here at least so there's that.
Rumble. Rumble. The entire world begins to shake as Yori begins to lose his balance. "Hey! Hey! What's going on!?!" Yori shouts with a worried tone in his voice.
She just gives a slight smile towards him before everything disappears. He jolts up in his bed and notices the ship is violently moving back and forth.
Crack!!! Something breaks throughout the ship, it's unclear what it was yet. "We're under attack!" A sailor shouts in the distance.
I knew pirates existed too since this world seems to have all the stuff you'd see in a fantasy game or even some manga. I just didn't think I'd see them myself in this world.
The door bursts open. "Could definitely use a hand up top Artemis." Cynthia says with a concerned look across her face.
What awaits me up top is bound to be quite the fight, especially if someone as experienced as Cynthia is worried. At least we were told she's real experienced compared to us.
Shimada also should be pretty decent at fighting so I have hope that he's handling everything decently well up there.
"Alright I'm coming." Artemis replies while drawing his sword.
He follows Cynthia up to the top deck where the enemy awaits, reaching the top, something worse than pirates appeared to be waiting.
A strange hooded being stood before them, wielding a massive sword. It stared right at Artemis as he approached and it's bright yellow eyes were fixated on him. "So I guessed right after all. This will make things a lot easier." The Mysterious being says with a malicious tone.
This thing appears to know about me in some way but I don't know what it knows exactly. I just know I won't be letting anything happen here.
I have no choice but to do my best to fight against this thing.
Artemis's heart thundered in his chest as the creature loomed closer, its presence a palpable weight in the air. He could feel the energy crackling around it, a dark aura that whispered of forbidden spells and ancient curses. With a deep breath, he steadied himself, gripping the hilt of his sword until his knuckles turned white.
The being tilted its head, the shadows of its tattered robes swirling like smoke, and the yellow eyes glinted with a predatory hunger.
Without warning, it lunged forward, a blur of movement that defied the laws of nature. Artemis reacted instinctively, sidestepping just in time to avoid the dark tendrils that shot from the creature's outstretched hand, leaving charred impressions on the ground. Sweat poured down his brow as he spun around, bringing his sword up in a defensive arc.
The fire of determination igniting within him as he fought against the beings powerful attacks. A wave of energy surged toward Artemis. He could feel the magic pulsating, an overwhelming force that threatened to crush him.
But he refused to back down. He planted his feet firmly, channeling every ounce of strength into his blade. He swung his sword, immediately he realizes that it doesn't do anything to stop the attack. The strange wave of magic breaks through his defense and sends him flying back into one of the walls of the ship.
Crash!!! He lands into the floor after hitting the wall, a bit dazed after the attack.
I can't expect to win without a good plan against this thing, it's got really powerful magic. I don't even know how to use any of my own magic yet so this isn't going to be a fun fight for me.
Cynthia could be seen ahead of him fighting against the being, trading attacks left and right as he sat there on the ground.
I've got to get up and help her out, she needs my help over there. As he stands up he can feel a crack in his arm as he goes to move it.
"Shit! That hurts like hell." Artemis says out loud while looking down towards his arm.
It's definitely broken, this is definitely not going to work out in my favor with an injury like this. Breath, you can do this.
He picks up his sword with his non broken arm and grips it tightly before using his strength to rush towards the enemy. "Seems my target is still alive." The Being speaks while disappearing from Cynthia's view.
Clang!!!!! A loud metallic clang emits from the clashing of Artemis's sword and the beings dagger. "Don't feel like using the magic anymore?" He questions while trying to push the sword through its defense.
It's eyes fixated on him even more than before. "It would be too easy. I also need to see if you are powerful or not, otherwise this was a waste of time." The Being responds with a bit of curiosity in its voice.
Testing my capabilities, what a piece of shit!
Thump. Thump. Thump. His heartbeat was all that he could hear after the sword shatters in front of him.
