Sakamiya University
Main Parking Lot
12:28 PM
Twelve Maelghor monsters remained: five charging toward Haruto from the left, and seven heading straight toward Kanna on the right.
Haruto took the initiative.
"MADOUKAI..!" he shouted.
He rotated the shaft of his scythe so that the blade pointed straight upward, gripping it tightly with his right hand, stretched forward at a forty-five-degree angle.
Then Haruto shouted,
"FATAL GUILLOTINE..!!"
The Dragon Kaiser's Scythe ignited with blazing violet energy. Its blade expanded to one and a half times its original size, radiating a luminous, violet aura. A strange vibrating hum reverberated through the air.
"EXTEND..!!"
At his command, the upper part of the scythe's shaft suddenly shot forward—stretching rapidly into a pole that reached dozens of meters ahead within just two seconds. It sliced through the air behind the five incoming Chaos Beasts, its massive blade now positioned directly behind them.
Gripping the extended shaft with both hands, Haruto swung the scythe hard to the left—striking the monsters from the side and dragging them all at once in one sweeping arc.
The impact threw them off balance, toppling them into each other as they tumbled and tangled together. They were slammed sideways, trapped and compressed into a single row. The scythe's shaft, stretched beside them like a rail of steel, pressed into their flanks with unstoppable force.
Then, Haruto turned the shaft 90 degrees to the left. The blade, once pointed upward, now faced sideways—toward the left. A glowing violet aura surged along the entire scythe, flowing from the blade's tip down to the base of its handle.
He shouted again,
"RETRACT..!!"
The moment he issued the command, the extended shaft began to rapidly contract. Within just two seconds, the massive length of the pole drew back toward Haruto—returning to its original form and...
VHHOOOOMMMMM..!!
KRRSHHHH..! KRRSHHHH..!
KHRUSSHH..! KRRSHHHH..! KRAASHHHH..!!
The enlarged blade tore through the five monsters from behind, cleaving through their bodies all at once in a flawless straight-line execution. It sliced through their bodies like paper, cutting through flesh, bone, and whatever unknown essence they were made of. As the shaft fully retracted, the five Maelghors were already disintegrating—reduced to blazing cinders and drifting ash, carried away by the wind dozens of meters ahead of Haruto.
The scythe blade returned to its normal size as the glow faded.
"Wow... this Madoukai skill." Haruto muttered to himself, his voice filled with awe. "A guillotine, with a flexible pathline using extend and retract commands. This could be really useful in certain situations. It's really a good skill."
He glanced down at the blade of his scythe—it was spotless. Not a single stain remained. No blood. No residue. No fragments of bone or flesh. It was as if nothing had been cut at all.
Even now, nothing.
There were no fluids, no flesh, no fragments of bone.
No splatter of any kind.
What exactly are these Chaos Beasts?.. he wondered, puzzled as his eyes lingered on the pristine surface of his weapon.
Are they truly organic creatures? Do they even have blood, flesh, or bones?..
Meanwhile, more monsters were crawling swiftly toward Kanna on the right side of the parking lot. Watching Haruto successfully unleash his skill, she smiled, eager to try her own.
"Haruto-kun, that skill was amazing! That scythe shaft extending and retracting like that—it's such a cool concept. I want to try one of my new skills too. I'm really curious now."
Still floating midair, Kanna prepared to activate her own skill.
"MADOUKAI..!!" she shouted, with fiery determination.
Suddenly, as if guided by some unseen force, a translucent screen appeared before her eyes. It scanned the battlefield, locking onto enemies one by one. It felt like a high-tech targeting system from a military weapon interface. As soon as the targets were marked, the screen vanished.
Then Kanna shouted the name of her Madoukai skill…
"FLAME SHOT..!"
Flames surged from her boots, growing fiercer as she ascended higher. Then, as if stepping onto an invisible platform, she pivoted on her left leg and swung her right leg outward in a wide horizontal arc.
"HEEAA..!"
With a powerful roundhouse kick, she sliced through the air—and from the motion, seven small fireballs formed before her, floating momentarily like dancing embers.
Continuing the momentum of her spin, Kanna lowered her right leg and let her body keep turning. Using her right foot as the pivot, she raised her left leg. The sole of her blazing boot swept through the air, striking all seven fireballs in one sweeping spin kick.
In an instant, the fireballs launched like homing missiles toward their locked targets.
FWHOOOSSSHHH..!
WHEEERRRR..! WHUSSSHH..! WHUSSSHH..!
FRSSSZZZTT! FRSSSZZZTT! FRSSSZZZTT!
Each fireball struck a target and ignited on contact, scorching the monsters in an instant. One by one, the seven Maelghor worm-beasts were consumed in flames, their bodies crumbling into ash and glowing embers.
Haruto and Kanna pulled back, regrouping a short distance from the inner edge of the barrier facing the main lobby. From where they stood, the entire parking lot ahead had fallen silent.
Not a single Chaos Beast Maelghor remained within sight. All of them had been destroyed, reduced to ashes, scattered and carried away by the wind.

Sakamiya University Main Building
Lobby and Hallways
As the last giant worm-like monster evaporated into drifting embers, a profound silence fell over the campus. For a full three seconds, no one spoke.
Every eye was wide open. Every mouth hung agape.
They were stunned—utterly speechless—by Haruto and Kanna's breathtaking performance on the battlefield.
Then, finally, someone broke the silence.
"They... did it..."
An overwhelming wave of cheers and applause exploded from the university lobby and hallways. Adult students embraced each other—some sobbing openly, others still frozen in disbelief. Military personnel wiped the sweat—and possibly tears—from their faces, the adrenaline crash washing into euphoric relief.
"YEEAAHHHH..!!"
"WOOOOHHOOOO…!!"
"THEY DID IT! THEY'VE SAVED US!" screamed a student, pumping both fists into the air.
"THEY KILLED ALL OF THEM IN JUST THREE MINUTES?!" several people shouted, checking the time between the first attack and the final blow delivered to the last of the giant Chaos worms.
"Thank you, unknown heroes!" dozens shouted in unison, their voices cracking with emotion.
"They did it… they took down all those monsters in barely three minutes… THREE MINUTES!" gasped an office worker, nearly fainting from excitement.
In less than three minutes of furious combat, Haruto and Kanna had systematically annihilated all 49 worm-like giant monsters except the largest one.
From the main lobby, Sergeant Hasegawa stood frozen in place, staring at the battlefield in pure disbelief.
"Well… I guess I'm not getting fired today after all… Phew…" he exhaled, slumping slightly with profound relief.

Major Television Network and Internet
All major networks—Tokyo TV, Metro TV, and more—were transmitting live feeds of the raging battle.
Online, the phrase "Tokyo Heroes" began trending, though no one had any clue who Haruto and Kanna really were or where they had come from.
Social media platforms like InStara and ViewTube practically exploded with real-time clips showing these two "unknown heroes" decimating the worm-like giant monsters in a matter of seconds each:
"OMG they just cleared the field!!"
"Anyone else crying tears of joy? #TokyoHeroes #RealLifeFantasy"
"Where do we sign up to join their fan club?? This is insane!"
The trending hashtags on Tritter soared to new heights:
#SakamiyaMiracle
#ScytheAndFlame
#TokyoHeroes
#UnrealBattle
The reaction was a fever-pitch phenomenon, bridging cynicism, disbelief, and euphoria all at once.
In downtown Tokyo, enormous outdoor screens at Shibuya Crossing displayed real-time footage of Haruto unleashing spiraling purple scythe slashes while Kanna was delivering a breathtaking kick that sent the giant monster flying into several other monsters and exploded.
Pedestrians on their lunch breaks stood rooted in place, jaws slack, as if the entire city itself had paused to witness this unbelievable phenomenon.
In a bustling train station somewhere in Ginza, a crowd gathered around a wall of large TVs. Businessmen, tourists, and on-duty officers stared at the footage in stunned silence.
Strangers whispered to one another, asking if it was real or some sort of Hollywood PR stunt—until they saw live reporters trembling on screen, describing every detail of the scene in breathless awe.

Sakuraba High School — Indoor Gym
In the middle of the indoor gym where a giant screen had been set up, students buzzed with excitement. The school was practically pulsing with energy as the live broadcast from Sakamiya University aired.
On the screen, a dramatic scene played out—two young people were absolutely wrecking these terrifying giant monsters effortlessly.
In the front row, right near the screen, a small group of girls sat huddled together on the floor. One of them, Ayano Mori, had been quiet the whole time.
Just… staring.
"Wait… wait-wait-wait." Risa said, squinting at the screen.
"Aya-chi... isn't that… your brother? Like... Haruto Nii-san?!"
Ayano just stares, frozen. Her lips parted slightly.
"That does look like Haruto Nii-san... but... he's kinda different?" Mayumi murmurs, frowning.
"Ayano-chan, is that really..."
She stops mid-sentence the moment she sees Ayano's eyes welling up with tears. It's like something deep inside her cracked open.
"Oh my God... oh my GOD. Nii-chan... Nii-chaaan..!" Ayano suddenly sobs as the screen zooms in on the young man slicing through a monster like a paper.
"Thank goodness, thank GOODNESS... Nii-chan's okay. Oh, thank God..." She wipes her eyes, her lips trembling.
"SO, IT IS REALLY YOUR BROTHER?!" Risa and Mayumi yell in unison.
"But like—what the heck?! Since when did Haruto Nii-san turn into some Marvel superhero?! Wasn't he always the super quiet, barely-talks-to-anyone type?"
Risa gasps, eyes still glued to the screen.
"And that scythe thing he's using?? Seriously, it's giving Grim Reaper vibes—but, in the hottest way possible." Mayumi chimed in, grinning.
Ayano wiped her tears, laughing softly through them, still sniffling a little.
"I don't know either, honestly... I have no idea how he got like that. But... whatever's going on, I'm just really, really happy he's okay. That's all that matters to me."
"But... um, could you guys not say anything to anyone else about this?"
Her tone turned serious.
Ayano suddenly leans in closer with whispered voice,
"I don't want people freaking out or bothering him. If word gets out that he's my brother, things might get... complicated. Promise me, please?"
"Of course, Aya-chi. Totally get it. Pinky swear."
Risa immediately gave her a reassuring nod, holding out her pinky.
"Same here. My lips are sealed."
Mayumi followed with a wink, looping her pinky with Risa's and then Ayano's.
For a moment, there was silence. Then...
"Hey, Ayano-chan..." Mayumi tilts her head with a wicked little grin.
"Umm... does Haruto Nii-san, have a girlfriend?"
"EHHHH?!" Ayano practically choked.
"WH—What?! Umm... I-I don't know?? W-Why??"
"Just look around. Look at how all the girls are staring at the screen right now."
Mayumi lifts her chin and motions toward the rest of the gym.
And sure enough, girls all over the place—seniors, juniors, even some of the teachers—are watching the screen with stars in their eyes. Some are whispering, some biting their lips, some filming with their phones. Some even clutched their chests as if they had just seen a K-pop idol starring in an action movie.
"See those faces?" Mayumi whispers dramatically. "If they ever find out he's your brother... chaos. Literal chaos. Like, 'I-will-kidnap-you-to-get-close-to-him' level."
"And I mean... if he doesn't have a girlfriend yet... I might just get in line." Mayumi winks.
"WHOA. Mayu-chi!" Risa bursts out laughing. "Just 'cause you're close with the little sister doesn't mean you get VIP access!"
"I mean, c'mon, after that performance… he's probably got girls lining up from your apartment to Tokyo Tower!" Mayumi giggled, nudging her shoulder
Ayano groaned, half-horrified, half-whispering,
"MAYUMI-CHAANN! You better not try flirting with Haruto Nii-chan!! If you even think about it, I'm banning you from my house forever! FOREVER, I mean it!"
Mayumi laughs, hands in the air. "Okay okay! Geez, Ayano-chan, calm down! I was mostly joking... kinda... maybe..."
Risa can't stop cackling. "Oh my God, this is gonna be so fun."
Ayano groaned, blushing furiously, "Ughhhh, you guys are the worst…"
The three of them burst out laughing, though Ayano's heart was still racing.

Main Parking Lot - Inside The Barrier
Haruto and Kanna pulled back a bit and each opened their status screens. As they studied the displays, they both noticed something curious about the Mystic Energy percentages and how using skills had affected them.
Haruto's Screen:
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Mystic Energy: 85%
Madoukai Skills:
— Fatal Guillotine — Uses 15% ME — Level 1
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Kanna's Screen:
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
Mystic Energy: 90%
Madoukai Skills:
— Flame Shot — Uses 10% ME — Level 1
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
"Luna, Luna, can you hear me?" Haruto brought his right glove closer to his face, calling out to Luna through their communication link.
"Yes, Haruto. What do you want to ask?" Luna's voice came through promptly, responding to his call.
"I just noticed something strange. A few minutes ago, before we started fighting, each of us accidentally unleashed a skill that wiped out a few monsters. But it didn't consume any Mystic Energy." Haruto explained, puzzled by what he saw.
"Yeah, Luna. After that, we both intentionally used one skill each, and then our Mystic Energy started decreasing. Why is that?" Kanna chimed in, echoing the same confusion.
"Oh, that? You could think of it as a bonus." Luna replied casually.
"The very first time you unlock a skill, that skill is executed for free, no energy cost. I think that's how it works. But as you've probably noticed, after unlocking more new skills, none of them activated automatically, right?" Luna replied, giving a short explanation about the initial skill manifestation.
"What? So that's it? No more bonuses left? Every time we use a skill, it'll always drain Mystic Energy?" Haruto asked, trying to confirm the system.
"That's right, Haruto. The bonus was likely a feature built into your Sacred Madougu. So…"
"HEY, LUNA!! Only one bonus?! You never told us anything about that! I don't care, you have to give me another one! That's your fault for not telling me sooner!" Kanna suddenly burst out, clearly annoyed that her one-time bonus had been used up unintentionally.
"Excuse me? Do I look like a merchant who hands out free items and coupons? Come on now. Besides, I didn't create your Sacred Madougu. I can't just…" Luna tried to explain but was immediately cut off again.
"WHAAAT?!" Kanna interrupted again. "I thought you created them! You know everything about them, don't you?!"
"No, I don't! I've said it multiple times already. Most of my memories are still sealed—by someone, for some unknown reason. I only remembered all this about the Sacred Madougu when I saw your bracelets glowing before your transformation." Luna answered, her voice slightly defensive as she reminded them of her fragmented memories.
"Ugh... such a waste. That one bonus skill was already gone by accident... So there's really no more bonuses, huh, Luna?" Kanna still couldn't let it go.
"NO MORE, KANNA..!! Enough with the bonus talk already! Look in front of you—Morthamraga's still standing! This is a crisis situation!" Luna snapped back, clearly losing her patience.

Inside the Conference Room – 2nd Floor
Everyone inside the room had been listening to Luna and Kanna argue about skill bonuses in the middle of an intense battle. Many of them shook their heads, some doing facepalms, others wiping nervous sweat from their necks, and a few even slumped backward into their seats in disbelief.
The Astral Examiner Device (AED) acted as the communication link between Luna, Haruto, and Kanna.
High-ranking military officers, national police officials, government ministers, and VIPs murmured among themselves, clearly baffled by the absurdity of the conversation.
"Why are they arguing about bonuses at a time like this?" Vice Marshal Shoji Arakawa muttered, shaking his head. "Thousands of lives are at risk."
"LUNA! KANNA! Please, stop arguing about the bonus already! STOP!" Miyuki Saegusa shouted directly into the AED.
"Yes, Miyuki-san." Kanna's voice came through, sounding a bit guilty.
"Yes, Miyuki..." Luna muttered quietly in reply.
"Luna, just tell them what's important information only, and quickly. Then get them moving again. Time is ticking. The city's destruction is right at the doorstep." growled General Victor, pressing Luna to deliver only the crucial information.
"Luna, what happens if Mystic Energy runs out or drops to zero?" Haruto's voice came through, his tone tinged with concern—uncertain if hitting 0% might come with severe consequences.
"About that, there's no need to worry, Haruto."
Luna replied calmly, "If your Mystic Energy reaches 0%, nothing bad will happen. You just won't be able to use any Madoukai skills anymore. Mystic Energy will gradually recover on its own outside of Astral Link mode—when you're not in combat."
"But what you do need to pay very close attention to is this." Luna continued, her voice growing sharper.
"Listen carefully. On your status screen, there's a section called Wielder Condition, shown as a percentage starting at 100%. That represents your physical condition. If it continues to drop and reaches zero... you will die." Her words echoed with a chilling finality.
"DIE..?!!" several people gasped in shock.
The word die echoed like a curse across the conference room. Whatever glimmer of hope they'd briefly regained began to fade again. The atmosphere turned heavy.
"They'll die if it hits zero? I-is that for real, Luna?" Vice Admiral Yui Okada asked, her face paling in concern.

Inside The Holy Barrier
"WE CAN DIE..?!!" Haruto and Kanna both shouted in shock, their voices overlapping in disbelief at the revelation that their lives were still at risk—even after becoming Sacred Wielders.
"Yes. You must be extremely careful and never act recklessly." Luna warned.
"The enemy you're facing now—the Chaos Beast Boss named Morthamraga—is unlike the dozens of Maelghor minions you defeated earlier. Its Mystic Power is likely far greater than yours. Use your Madoukai skills wisely, sparingly, and at the right moment, because your Mystic Energy is limited."
"Oh, right—Luna, there's another thing." Haruto said. "On the status screen, there's something called S-Madougu Level 1. Maybe if we level it up, we'll grow stronger. Maybe it even raises our Mystic Power. Do you know how to level it up?"
"I don't know." Luna answered plainly.
"Huh...? You don't know?" Haruto blinked, stunned by her reply.
"Yes, I don't." Luna repeated.
"There's some sort of hidden mechanism, or maybe a specific requirement, for your Sacred Madougu to level up. But I can't recall it right now. I'm sure that when the time comes, you'll understand it on your own. For now, don't worry about leveling up. Focus only on defeating the boss—Morthamraga. That's all that matters. Do you understand?"
Luna exhaled slowly as she finished her explanation.
"Yes, Luna. We understand." Haruto replied, his eyes returning to his status screen.
"Okay. Thank you for the explanation, Luna." Kanna added with a nod of gratitude.
"Good luck." Luna ended the communication.
Kanna hovered a little closer to Haruto, fear evident in her expression.
"Haruto-kun... what do we do now? I'm... kind of scared..."
"Then just do it anyway." Haruto said calmly.
"If we don't fight, this giant boss monster will destroy the city—and we'll still die either way. So it's all the same. Just do what we have to do. Okay, Kanna-chan?"
He looked at her, trying to steady her nerves with quiet resolve.
Then suddenly, from behind Haruto and Kanna, faint voices broke through the silence...
"Tokyo Heroes…"
"Tokyo Heroes…"

Sakamiya University Main Building
Lobby and Hallways
12:29 PM
The cries rang out as people raised their fists high, cheering for Haruto and Kanna after the two obliterated all fifty-two giant worm-like Maelghor monsters in a matter of minutes.
In an overwhelming surge of emotion, soldiers, police officers, and civilians all erupted into a unified chant…
"TOKYO HEROES..!!"
"TOKYO HEROES..!!"
Some pounded their chests, others stomped the ground in rhythm. The chant reverberated through the corridors, out the shattered windows, and into the open air.
No one knew their real names. But in that moment, they didn't need them. The world had already given them titles—names born of desperation and gratitude.
Aya Shina, the Tokyo TV reporter, was broadcasting live, her voice breathless and brimming with awe.
"This is Aya Shina reporting live from Sakamiya University! They've completely eradicated every single monstrous worm except the largest one, and in just three minutes! The atmosphere here is electric! The crowd inside the campus is chanting, listen to this!"
She motioned to her cameraman to capture the echoing chant rising from deeper within the building:
Chants echoing louder and louder:
"TOKYO HEROES!"
"TOKYO HEROES!"
Keiko Honda, a Metro TV reporter, eyes sparkling with renewed hope, turned to her own camera:
"Our viewers won't believe this. I can barely believe it myself. These two unknown individuals have just wiped out an entire horde of giant monsters in a matter of minutes. And that scythe… If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes, I'd think I was describing some medieval fantasy novel. But this is real. It's happening—right now—in 2025, in Tokyo!"
Kenji, the Tokyo TV cameraman, zoomed in on the battlefield. The once-chaotic zone now lay eerily quiet, littered with scorched debris and glowing embers drifting through the air.
Slowly, the camera revealed the silhouettes of Haruto and Kanna, "They're unstoppable." he whispered, his camera trembling as it captured their image.
On the second-floor hallway near the large windows, a frantic female influencer shouted at her phone camera, voice trembling with excitement:
"They're going for the big boss! Guys, we're about to see the big battle! This is madness—I'm shaking so hard, I can't hold my phone steady!"
Dozens of soldiers, shouting in unison:
"Do your best, Scythe Guy! Flaming Girl! We're counting on you!"
University staffs clinging to each other, tears in their eyes:
"We have to believe in them. We have no choice."
At Tokyo TV's broadcast studio, a live anchor turned toward the monitor. Onscreen, Aya Shina—the on-site reporter at Sakamiya University—was speaking live, her voice quivering with emotion:
"Dear viewers, brace yourselves. We are about to witness the decisive battle. May fortune stand with these two heroic figures!"

Across Tokyo and Internet
Hashtags exploded across Tritter and InStara:
#TokyoHeroes
#ScytheDancer
#TheGoodReaper
#FlamingKicks
#FireGoddess
#SummonedFromAnime
Treets and comments surged:
"You can do it! Defeat that giant ugly thing!"
"Finish that creature!"
"Take the boss down, Tokyo Heroes!"
ViewTube exploded with reaction videos from content creators:
"OMG, this is literally like an anime boss fight episode happening IRL!"
"My mom is crying watching the news. These heroes… we needed them right now!"
Across the iconic Shibuya Crossing, enormous LED screens broadcast the live feed of the battle. Thousands stood frozen, their eyes locked on the screen—then, slowly, the chant "Tokyo Heroes" began to rise.
A young woman in Shibuya whispered emotionally, "I don't know who they are, but I've never felt so hopeful."
In city squares, cafés, stations, and homes across the country, voices joined together. The chant "Tokyo Heroes" that began in Sakamiya University now echoed throughout the nation.

But now was not the time for celebration.
The real battle, was about to begin.
"Haruto, Kanna, listen." Luna's voice came through again urgently.
"My Absolute Holy Barrier will only last for 6 more minutes. You must defeat Morthamraga before it expires—and before it summons the third wave, which it's likely capable of triggering. I still don't know what it's abilities are or what attack patterns it may use. Be extremely careful. Good luck."
"Got it, Luna. We'll stay alert." Kanna replied, understanding the weight behind Luna's words.
"Understood, Luna." Haruto added.
Morthamraga must be defeated—not just to protect the citizens, but to close the Void Gate and stop the third wave from ever arriving.
Can they defeat the Wyrm Lord in time—before the Absolute Holy Barrier fades?
If Haruto and Kanna failed, Tokyo would fall.
What came next would be a colossal boss battle...
Brutal, overwhelming...
And deadly.

From within the university lobby, a young man turned to his friend standing next to him and said:
