Sakamiya University

Main Parking Lot

12:37 PM

"Alright then... let's test this Transcend power. I'm a bit worried I won't be able to control it." Haruto adjusted his stance, sliding his right foot forward.

"Kanna-chan, let's start with a small test." he said, swinging his scythe and positioning it behind him.

"Yes Haruto-kun, I want to see what I can do while holding back a lot." Kanna ascended slightly higher into the air, crimson flames spiraling gently around her legs. "I'm ready when you are."

Haruto and Kanna took their battle stances and glanced at each other.

A single nod passed between them.

And in the blink of an eye—they vanished.

Just a glitching blur, and they were gone.

— — —

Lobby and Hallways

People inside the lobby and hallways screamed or gasped.

Panic swept through the building.

"Where did they go?!"

"Did they just—disappear?!"

"Where are they?!"

Reporters, soldiers, civilians—everyone inside the building scrambled to find them again. Cameramen jerked their TV cameras left and right, desperately scanning the battlefield.

But no one knew where they were.

**

Main Parking Lot

For two seconds, everyone couldn't locate them.

Until they finally reappeared.

Standing calmly, side by side—right in front of Morthamraga.

Just like that!

Fifteen Maelghors that stood behind them suddenly didn't move.

Every one of them froze mid-motion, their bodies locked in unnatural stillness.

"Xhruukh..?!" Morthamraga flinched, visibly startled. The massive creature instinctively stepped back. Fear flickered in its glowing eyes.

Haruto looked down at his left hand, flexing his fingers with calm curiosity.

"Well, that was fast. This power's... not bad. What about you, Kanna-chan?" he said, glancing at his scythe, now resting against his shoulder—its form sharper, more terrifying than ever.

"Mmm. I like it. I picked up quite a few... behind us." she said casually, her tone light. "But now I want to know—just how strong did I get? And what's your power level like now, Haruto-kun?"

"Oh, back there?" Haruto tilted his head toward the fifteen Maelghors behind.

"Them? That wasn't even warm-up material. Two seconds... barely worth mentioning."

He shook his head and opened his status screen. Kanna followed suit, both of them standing before Morthamraga, browsing stats as if reviewing menu options.

And then it happened.

KKRRSSSHHH..! DDUUAAACCKK..! KABOOOMM..! CRAACCKKK..!

SREESSSHHH..! TDWAAACCKK..! CEERRRSSHHH..! BOOOMM..!

The fifteen Maelghors behind them suddenly erupted—split, burned, kicked, shattered. Some exploded violently, others were sliced into glowing ashes.

They didn't even have time to scream!

Their bodies disintegrated all at once, reduced to embers and dust exactly as Haruto and Kanna checked their status screens.

It was the long-delayed result of the effect of their afterimage attacks!

The lag between their attacks and the visual confirmation made it seem like the world itself struggled to keep up with their super speed.

"Zhuurgh..?!" Morthamraga flinched, stumbling backward with a deep, guttural snarl.

But the beast didn't wait. It lashed out.

Its massive tail whipped toward Haruto from the right. Simultaneously, the two spear-tipped tentacles struck toward Kanna from the left.

Haruto didn't even flinch.

With a relaxed expression, he calmly raised his right arm—and blocked the massive tail with one hand. The blow that would've flattened tanks was halted midair like it was made of paper.

The tail lashed at him again and again from multiple angles, with tremendous force—each time faster, more forceful.

But still—just one hand.

His now muscular arm, inked with glowing purple dragon tattoos, held back every brutal impact like he was batting away a toy. The tail thrashed wildly, but it was no more than a plaything in Haruto's grip.

Meanwhile, in Kanna's eyes, the incoming spear tentacles seemed… slow.

She dodged effortlessly, barely moving her head or shoulders—slightly tilting, occasionally shifting her leg or wrist. She floated in place, completely unbothered.

To any ordinary human, Morthamraga's strikes were lightning-fast deathblows. But to her, it was like watching children play with plastic swords in slow motion.

"Kanna-chan, this is... amazing."

"I don't feel any pressure. No fear. Actually… I feel calm. Peaceful, even. Everything's just… moved… slowly. And how do I put it? Is it like we're…" Haruto didn't finish the sentence.

He tilted his head back slightly, staring up as if trying to find the words.

"Haruto-kun." Kanna replied, her voice just as serene, "I feel exactly the same. It's so strange—I don't feel like I'm in the middle of a battle. It feels more like… I'm just chilling at campus between lectures."

She smiled gently.

"Everything's moving so slowly around me. The only thing that still feels fast... is you. I almost couldn't keep up with your speed earlier."

"Ah, you haven't even used your full power yet, right?" Haruto replied with his usual neutral face. "If we both go serious, you'd definitely way faster than me."

"Maybe." Kanna said with a light shrug. "This is just a little test run. I'm still learning how to control it. I'm not even sure if we're the ones moving too fast... or if the world around us is just slowing down."

She glanced over her shoulder.

"Also, I kinda forgot what I even did to those Maelghors earlier."

"Hey, Kanna-chan." Haruto said suddenly, lowering his scythe and placing it gently on the ground.

"I've always been curious. What do these obsidian-like scales feel like?" He reached out with his left hand and touched the monster's scales, stroking a few of them.

Knock knock…!

"Whoa… this is hard. Like—really hard." He tapped on it with his knuckles.

"Ooh! Wait, let me try." Kanna floated closer, reaching out to feel the creature's massive hide. "You're right! Super hard. No wonder regular bullets don't work on this thing. It's like solid rock."

And just like that—

The two of them were chatting and inspecting the giant monster's body like curious college students in a museum exhibit.

All while still effortlessly blocking tail strikes and dodging spear tentacles. They were talking—having a casual conversation like it was a regular afternoon.

From a civilian's perspective, all they could see was Haruto's right hand blurring slightly as it casually intercepted each incoming tail strike. Kanna made only the tiniest movements of her head, torso, or ankles to dodge each incoming thrust.

They never even looked at the attacks.

And the terrifying truth was:

They weren't even trying yet.

Frustrated, Morthamraga reared its acid-spewing tentacles and unleashed several jets of corrosive liquid at them both.

Haruto calmly grabbed his scythe again and hopped backward to avoid it. Kanna performed a graceful midair backflip in retreat.

Neither of them expected what came next.

What they thought was a gentle jump or slight backflip… launched them both over 200 meters away. They landed cleanly in front of Sakamiya University's main building.

"Whoa—!! I jumped way too far!" Haruto said, blinking in surprise. "I barely used any strength…"

"Wha—!?" Kanna blinked as she floated down. "That flip was so gentle… I only used very little power! And I still ended up all the way here!?"

The two looked at each other, stunned for a brief second.

Then both laughed lightly—amused at the absurdity of their own power.

The Conference Room 2nd Floor

"THEY JUMPED THAT FAR?!!"

The shout came from multiple people at once, erupting in disbelief.

Everyone in the room gawked, eyes wide, mouths slightly open. It was impossible to comprehend. The same two youths who had once been bloodied, broken, and on the verge of death were now casually facing Morthamraga as if they were on a stroll.

The celestial pressure radiating from their Transcend Forms was so immense, most of the people in the room couldn't remain standing. Many had collapsed into their chairs, hands trembling.

And then the room exploded with conversation.

"Th-That's… Is that the power of Madou Transcend?! Are they really still Haruto and Kanna, the university students from Sakamiya?" Governor Saeki Kudou stammered, cold sweat trickling down the back of his neck.

"They're just… casually blocking and dodging every one of that monster's tail and spear tentacle strikes like it's nothing! Did Morthamraga get weaker..?" Chief of Police Akira Oda asked, visibly struggling to believe what he was witnessing.

"They're magnificent. Their forms... It's like they've fused with some divine entity." said Airi Tachibana, Oda's aide, her voice filled with awe. She was a mid-ranking police officer.

"In two seconds... just TWO SECONDS, they wiped out fifteen Maelghors!"

Colonel Hayato, who had remained composed throughout the crisis, began to react emotionally. His voice rising.

"We spent nearly twenty minutes eliminating fourteen of the same monsters in the first wave—using the full power of the Japanese military, with advanced heavy weaponry and everything we had… AND THEY TOOK THEM DOWN LIKE NOTHING! THEY'RE MORE MONSTROUS THAN MORTHAMRAGA ITSELF..!!"

He finally let loose, unable to keep his calm any longer.

"That's exactly why." General Victor cut in, "I insisted they be included in this operation briefing from the beginning—after receiving intel from Luna and Miyuki-san. Now you understand why. These two college students are... beyond what we imagined."

Suddenly—

"HARUTOOO..!! KANNAAA..!!"

Luna's voice thundered through the conference room, cutting through every conversation. She had activated the Madou Comms on her AED.

"Why the hell are you two casually chatting in front of Morthamraga?! You're not here to hang out! THIS ISN'T A GAME!! This is a CRISIS! TOKYO COULD BE DESTROYED!! And you're just... playing around with touching-touching monster's scales?! Madou Transcend has a TIME LIMIT, you IDIOTS!!"

She took a deep breath, then shouted again:

"Use your Madoushin Skill! It's a Super Skill—far stronger than your regular Madoukai. You can only activate it during Transcend Mode. It doesn't require any Mystic Energy—yes, free of cost! But you can only use it once. ONE. SINGLE. SHOT!"

"FINISH HIM NOW! GO..!! QUICKLY..!!"

Her voice shook with emotion, panic, and frustration.

The entire room flinched.

A pause followed—then Haruto's voice came through, calm and casual:

"Yeah, yeah, okay Luna. We get it."

Kanna's voice followed, soft and slightly apologetic:

"Alright, sorry Luna. We'll start the attack now."

Luna sighed and switched off the Comms.

Miyuki Saegusa, leader of The Mirage, broke the silence that followed.

"Luna… their Transcend forms… um, I mean—are they actually that much stronger? Or is Morthamraga just weaker now?"

Luna shook her head.

"No. Morthamraga hasn't changed at all. Its power is the same. It's Haruto and Kanna who have become overwhelmingly more powerful."

She hesitated, then added grimly:

"If they don't finish it before the Transcend limit ends and they return to their broken bodies... I don't even want to imagine what might happen. Let's hope there's still time."

"Luna, may we see their current stats?"

The question came from Dr. Itsuki Himuro, one of Japan's senior military scientists. "You said they're far stronger now. Just, how strong?"

"Yes." Luna replied, then tapped a few keys on her Astral Examiner Device.

"Before the transformation, Haruto's Mystic Power was 250. Kanna's was 220. Now, look at this." She brought up two glowing displays:

A moment of silence.

Then a member of Japan's parliament spoke up hesitantly.

"Do we… have any idea how strong Morthamraga is in comparison?"

Luna shook her head. "There's no confirmed data in the AED. But if I had to estimate… Morthamraga's Power is likely somewhere between 400 to 500."

The room fell silent again.

Some people stared blankly at the data. Others leaned back in their chairs, unable to process the gap in power. Whispers faded into an eerie hush.

Moments later, a calm voice cut through the silence.

"Ara ara…"

All eyes turned to Kyoka Futaba, the President of Sakamiya University, who sitting with her usual unsettling calm.

"If Morthamraga has the strength to destroy a city... these two perhaps could destroy a nation with their current Transcend power."

She placed her right palm gently against her cheek, tilting her head to the side with a graceful smile. Her eyes narrowed into elegant slits as she added with her typical melodic voice:

"Truly... Haruto and Kanna might just be the ones capable of wiping Japan with all of us in it. Isn't that fascinating~?"

A shiver ran through everyone present.

Her beautiful, gentle smile didn't ease the tension.

Instead, it sent a wave of cold dread through the room.

Everyone stared at her—frozen. Because with Kyoka, no one could tell if she was joking... or simply stating an inevitable truth.

"Nation destroyers… hhmmn…" Vice Marshal Shoji Arakawa muttered, as if trying to validate her words. His face pale.

And at that moment, everyone understood something terrifying.

If Haruto and Kanna weren't on humanity's side…

There would be nothing on Earth that could stop them.

Main Parking Lot

Luna's voice suddenly came again through Madou Comms, echoing through Haruto and Kanna's gloves:

"Haruto, Kanna, just a quick update before you attack. Based on my calculations, your Madou Transcend form has… approximately 60 seconds left. The total time limit of your Transcend mode is three minutes."

"So please finish Morthamraga quickly. But listen—don't go all out. No full power. Since my Absolute Holy Barrier was gone, if you unleash your Madoushin skill without holding back, especially a wide-range one, you might destroy the entire Tokyo. So hold back your strength. Just enough to finish it without any collateral damage. Do you understand?"

"Got it, Luna." Haruto nodded seriously. "Kanna-chan, let's end this before it causes more destruction."

"Understood, Luna. Haruto-kun, let's end this together." Kanna floated closer, hovering gracefully beside Haruto's left side.

Without another word, both moved at once, as if some unseen signal had triggered them. They didn't even need to speak.

Haruto gripped his massive, fearsome scythe with one hand, reversing his grip so the blade faced backward, trailing behind him like a ninja sprinting forward. Simultaneously, Kanna rose slightly higher on his left, before propelling herself forward like a missile toward the towering Chaos Beast.

Morthamraga wasted no time responding. The monstrous serpent immediately unleashed its acid-spewing tentacles, firing streams of corrosive liquid toward both Haruto and Kanna with precision.

Acid blasts launched with devastating velocity—almost as fast as bullets—fired again and again in rapid bursts, like a monstrous machine gun firing endless rounds of lethal liquid.

Some of the acid projectiles even reached the university's front lobby.

The floor melted violently wherever the acid landed, leaving large, smoldering craters.

"KYAAAA..!!"

Soldiers stationed near the building immediately backed away. Several civilian inside the lobby screamed as the acid splashes came dangerously close to striking them.

Haruto glanced back briefly while still running forward and weaving between acid bursts.

He then spoke quickly to Kanna through his Madou Comms:

"Kanna-chan, fly lower. If you stay up high, the acid attacks you dodge might hit the university building. We can't afford anymore casualties."

"Understood, Haruto-kun. I'll stay low." Kanna replied, shifting her altitude immediately.

Haruto stayed grounded—sprinting with sharp footwork, weaving left and right through the acidic storm. He ducked under some projectiles, leapt over others, every missed blast scarring the ground with violent hissing burns, leaving behind gaping, smoking craters.

Kanna, now flying low, darted forward like a jet. Her movements were fluid, almost hypnotic. She weaved through the acid barrage like a fighter aircraft in a battlefield, spinning and twisting in midair, her path unwavering. She refused to slow down.

She closed the distance in seconds. Just before impact, she twisted her body and swung her left leg upward in a soaring arc...

FWHOOOSSSHH..!

DWWAAAACCKK…!!

WHERRSSSHHH..

(1 Hit) [2082 damage]

Her heel slammed into Morthamraga's chin with a fiery upward arc, an uppercut kick delivered with explosive force. The kick sending its massive form hurtling nearly twenty meters skyward. A burst of crimson fire ignited at the point of contact, scorching and searing through its obsidian-like scales.

And the impact was.. brutal.

Morthamraga's jaw crumpled inward, folding up toward its skull as flames erupted across his scorched chin. The devastating uppercut kick didn't just disfigure it—it rendered him speechless. Its mouth hung agape, twitching in agony. It couldn't even mutter a coherent sound, let alone chant a healing incantation.

"I told you already. I would make sure you'd never chant that healing spell again. TAKE THAT..!!" Kanna growled through clenched teeth, her voice echoing with satisfaction and vengeance.

"Ghrrakh..!" The colossal worm-like boss monster howled in pain as its chin caved inward and scorched by the earlier strike. It struggled to stabilize itself midair, trying to regain balance before landing.

Kanna quickly flew backward, shouting,

"HARUTO-KUN! NOW..!"

Already within striking distance, Haruto raised his left hand toward Morthamraga, who was still suspended in the air from Kanna's uppercut kick, his palm wide open.

With a powerful voice, Haruto unleashed the words of his Transcend Super Skill:

"Madoushin..!"
