Chapter 8 - Death Sentence

Chapter 8: Death Sentence

She didn't feel anything from the white mist touching her body, and after it entered back inside his body, she thought he would open his eyes now as it was done.

However, a faint green hue surrounded his body. A hint of surprise appeared on her face, not only because she thought it was over but because she knew which element this talent was related to.

It was a life element talent like hers. The actual talent might be different, but the element was the same. She felt surprised since her life element was quite a rare element to awaken to. No matter how low rank this talent was, it wouldn't be useless to him even as a man.

This talent would help him from time to time. Knowing he had similar talent as her, she felt they were even more destined to be together.

'Hehe, I knew Kael and I were meant to be together.'

After a few minutes, everything turned to normal, and Kael opened his eyes.

"Get off me, you pervert!"

Sera got off him and went back to her seat as if nothing had happened, but even she had a light blush as she knew this time she had gone too far.

Kael touched his pants to see there was a little bit of wetness on them, and he knew what that was. For some reason, he wanted to see how it smelled, but he didn't do so as his curiosity would make the pervert next to him become even more bold.

But it made him angry knowing he couldn't go home like this. He needed to change his clothes. He knew hunters had sharp senses. He didn't know how high rank his Aunt and his sister were, but he couldn't risk it.

'I am so annoyed.'

But more than an annoyance, he had his mind on something else. He had awakened a talent. It might be F rank like how the limit of men was, but the weird thing was he awakened not one but two talents. He had never heard of something like this.

'Someone with two talents—that wasn't possible according to what I knew.'

But now here he was with two talents at the same time. The first one he didn't know anything about, but for the second one he could feel it—he had healed himself, similar to the talent that Sera had used to heal his injuries earlier.

'Is that coincidence?'

He wanted it to be a coincidence, but it wasn't one, and he knew it. He had awakened the strange talent first, which gave no information to him, and then the second one.

It gave him the thought that the first talent might be somehow responsible for it.

'It's like I had copied Sera's talent or something similar to that.'

But whatever it might be, he knew one thing—he didn't like this one bit at all. He knew he was in big trouble right now.

'Every awakener needed to go to the hunters federation to evaluate their talent, whether men or women. For rare men who would luckily awaken an F-rank talent, it was only like a one-time medical checkup.'

'But for me, it would be like a death sentence.'

'What should I do? If they found me having two talents, especially as a man, they would either kill me or lock me in some research lab to cut me up in pieces. It would be even worse than death.'

His face went pale now. Reprimanding Sera for dirtying his pants was the least of his worries.

'I can't even hide the fact I am an awakener. Any other awakener can detect each other, and the fact I am a man attracts even more attention.'

'Am I going to die?'

There was only one person he could think of right now—his Aunt Selene. He didn't know what she would do, but he only had her whom he could trust in this situation. He trusted his sister enough too that she wouldn't play with his life, but he wasn't sure if she would be able to do anything.

Sera noticed the strangeness in Kael too, so she asked him in worry, feeling that she had gone too far and scared him.

"What happened, Kael? Why are you shaking, and why is your face so pale?"

"Are you sick, or did something go wrong? I am sorry if I did something to scare you."

Kael looked at her. He could see her worry-filled eyes, but he couldn't tell her anything. He didn't trust her enough now, no matter how close he felt to her.

"I-It's nothing, Sera. You did nothing wrong, and I am not in the mood. Could you please drive for me?"

Seraphine felt strange. How could it be nothing when he felt like he had received a death sentence, and he even told her it wasn't her fault.

'Is it because he is not comfortable enough with her to go this far? No! That's not how he is. He would have told her off to her face, but this is something else.'

She didn't change seats with him, but she was lost in her thoughts about what had happened to him.

Kael opened maps on his phone, gave her his phone, and even told her he needed to change his pants because of her, but everything sounded lifeless.

Sera heard him and told him they would stop at a clothing store in between. She also needed to change her clothes. She had a few extra pairs in her space ring, so she would change in the changing room too, as she couldn't go to his home with her shorts soaked in her own cum.

She drove. None of them talked. Both of them were lost in their thoughts. It was a silent drive. She stopped at a luxury clothing store. If it were normal circumstances, Kael would have protested it was too expensive a place to buy clothes.

But he went along and bought pants similar to the ones he was wearing, but the only difference was the material was much better at ten times the price. He let her pay since she was the one who caused him to be in this situation.

Still, his mind was on reaching his home and discussing this huge problem with Aunt Sel to find a solution. Otherwise, he was as good as dead.

He even forgot about the fact that Seraphine was going to tell him what happened between both of them last night as she promised.

Seraphine didn't like how he was acting at all. The fact his hands and legs were shaking from time to time and the anxious pale look on his handsome face made her heart sting.

She wanted to do something to make him act like before—playful, sometimes annoyed, sometimes shy, and even the light smile he would have on his face from time to time. She missed it.

But she had come to the conclusion that this happened right after he had awakened his talent. She didn't need anyone to tell her she knew for a fact it would only be an F-rank talent. She wasn't sure if it was the reason for his behavior, but it seemed that way to her.

However, she didn't think she could do something about this, as that was how things were. Men could only get an F-rank talent. That's how the world worked.

He had to accept that reality himself, but she would be there to support him.

She held his shaking hand with her hand.

"Kael, if you need someone to talk to about anything, I am here for you."

Feeling Sera's gentle touch on his hand, made him only a little less anxious, but he didn't think he could talk to her about this. It was too big of a predicament to be shared like this.

One slip up and he would be dead.

"Thank you for that. I would remember that, Sera." He managed to muster a small smile to show his appreciation.

But after the last chat, along the way, only silence followed until they reached his home.
