Chapter 11 - Forbidden Feelings and Sick Aria

Chapter 11: Forbidden Feelings and Sick Aria

Kael saw how big sis Aurora had pulled Seraphine inside. He had a bright expression seeing that, as his big sis didn't show much interest in anything. Even while she showed some emotion a few years back, she was the quiet and mysterious type.

'It seems big sis took a liking to Sera. Hehe, it would be good if both became friends. Big sis doesn't seem to have any friends.'

Sera realized she had no choice from the start when the guild leader said she had to come inside. The strength of her grip nearly broke her hands. She was used to pain and it healed in a few seconds afterward, so she didn't make a noise.

'It seems the leader is aware of my identity and my talent. Otherwise, she shouldn't have done that considering Kael was right next to her. She cares so much about him, she wouldn't want him to see herself as cruel.'

She saw Kael and the leader walking side by side, and she had to follow after.

Kael looked at his big sister, Aurora, and asked her something he felt quite weird about. He had seen Aunt even after entering the house, considering that she would be there for him at the door, however now she was nowhere to be seen.

"Big sis, where is Aunt Sel? Is she not at home?" He asked.

Aurora glanced at Kael, answering him not the whole truth, but what was best for him to hear.

"Mother is taking care of little Aria. She is sick, so she can't meet you because of that."

Kael's eyes shot wide open, hearing what she had said. Worry filled him, and even a bit of guilt knowing Aria had become sick when he was not here. He should have been here for her.

She was the only one other than Aunt Sel who would encourage him and take his side. They had so much fun. She was the one he was most close to after Aunt Sel, who had taken care of him since he was little.

"Where is she! Let me see her. I want to see her."

"You can't." Aurora's voice sounded, her tone firm with no room for questions.

Kael already had a big pending threat, which would result in his death. The toll on his mind was heavy. He had listened to her and thought that she might be thinking for his own good, but right now he couldn't.

He thought his mind might be numb and his cute little sister was sick and he couldn't even meet her. He just couldn't accept it.

Aurora continued leading them to the dining hall where she was going to ask them more about what happened yesterday. She did get details from Kaitlyn about his little chat, but she wanted to hear from him, as Kaitlyn's trial was still not over in her eyes even after the spar she had last night.

She might call it a spar, but it was a one-sided beatdown.

She felt a big hand holding her hand. The force behind it was very small, but it made her stop in her tracks. She wasn't wearing her gloves. His touch had made her feel a bit weird. Her frozen heart beat just a bit.

After the awakening of her talent at the age of seventeen, an SS rank talent of Ice Element, it was a strong talent but had some effects on her. It had made it very hard to feel any emotion. She felt no emotion most of the time. At the same time, the sensitivity of her cells had increased to very high levels.

But with power, there comes a price. The pain she felt was many times stronger than others, but it was something she had endured through her will and moved on. However, the problem came only with Kael, her innocent little brother whom she had always considered her brother. Even after talent awakening, she tried to live normally.

But when they were together, they would come in contact with each other. It was nothing but a show of their closeness and intimacy.

Yet those once simple hugs and cuddles had caused her to have weird thoughts over time about her own innocent little brother. At that time, she couldn't help but feel hateful toward herself for thinking about this regarding her own little brother.

They might not have the same blood, but she considered him her only little brother since he was little.

This had made her keep her distance from him all the time and be cautious of being close to him. But she still watched over him from afar, as she couldn't be away from him no matter how much she tried.

She turned around with no emotions on her face. This simple hold of her hand wasn't still enough to cause an emotional stir in her. Her heart did start to beat a bit faster once again, making her aware she was in love with her own little brother.

"What is it, Kael? Why did you stop me? Do you want to ask anything more?"

"Big sis, I need to meet Aria. She is sick and I have to meet her. She must be missing me too. I can't just leave her all alone," Kael said while looking into her frosty eyes.

"Please!"

Aurora nearly decided to agree to his demands because of his innocent pleas and how he was still holding her hand.

However, the logical reasoning in her mind had only one answer. Even if the mother was there to keep things in control, there could still be a 0.0001% chance Kael could get hurt. Considering how weak he was, it could be fatal for him.

The space element was very mysterious. There could always be an element of surprise in it.

But this time she didn't just reject him but told him a bit more.

"Kael, it's not that I don't want you to see her. It's just that it's something related to Aria's talent awakening which had gone a bit wrong. It could be dangerous for you to be there."

Hearing what she said made him realize the situation was more serious than he had thought. It was not just some normal sickness, but a problem in talent awakening, which could be even fatal to one's life.

Despite the danger, it gave him even more reason to see her as soon as possible. He knew his big sis well, so he had to take advantage of that fact right now if he wanted to meet Aria.

"Please, big Sis Aur, let me meet her. You would be there with me, wouldn't you? So I believe big sis won't let me get hurt."

"I trust you, big sis, so let's just go together."

He tightened his grip on her hand, looking into her eyes with an expectant look while he said those words.

Hearing Kael calling her big sis Aur, the way he used to call her when he was little, later because of her own emotions, she told him to use her name Aurora instead of the nickname Aur, saying it was childish in an attempt to keep him away from her.

And it did have an effect, which she regretted a bit later on, but it was for the best, she told herself that.

But right now it had stirred quite a few emotions in her. The way he said he trusted her and believed in his big sis, Aurora couldn't take it. She would make sure he was fine when he saw Aria. The chance of him getting hurt was slim from the start, but now she had to make sure it would be none.

"Fine."
