Chapter 12: Underground Secret Room
Aurora looked at Seraphine, who was behind them. When she looked, she could see her fidgeting in her place. She didn't beat around the bush and said to her coldly.
"You go straight from here and take the first left. You will reach the dining hall. Take a seat on the fourth seat from the third seat from the left side, and wait until we come back."
"Is that okay?"
Seraphine nodded to her words and felt a bit weird about why she was so specific about where to sit, but she didn't care. She would sit there until they came. She had no intention of roaming around even for a bit, even if she was curious as this was where Kael lived. However, her life was more important to her than her curiosity.
"Yes," she obliged.
She even asked if it was okay or not, but from the coldness in her voice and her sharp look, she had no choice from the start.
Kael found that Sera seemed to be much better behaved in front of his big sister, but he remembered her earlier behavior and thought she might be trying to score points with his big sister.
He also remembered the fact how detailed her answer was when big sis Aurora asked her who she was. He was going to get answers from her, as she only told him her first name. That wasn't fair. It would be only as a joke, but he knew if he mentioned it in front of big sis Aurora, Sera was going to get embarrassed. He would remember to do that after he came back from checking up on his little sister.
They parted ways. Sera went to the dining hall as instructed, and Aurora and Kael both walked toward the gym on the ground floor.
During that time he asked his big sis a question that was on his mind.
"Big sis, why did you tell Sera to sit on the third seat from the left?"
She looked at him and answered him honestly.
"No one sits there, so I just told her to take a seat there without much thought behind it."
But there was also the fact that if she found her in the wrong spot when she came back, she would know Sera was trying to retaliate and would be much harsher on her when her interrogation started. Kael didn't have to know this, and it was the truth that the seat remained empty when they ate together.
Kael heard her response and thought that his big sis was a bit weird sometimes, because of how she liked all the things to be in order and perfect.
He was expecting to see a chaotic magical sight when entering the gym, but instead, it was empty and no one was there.
He glanced at his big sis but didn't stop even after entering the gym, so he followed her. He was curious as to where they were going—it was a dead end and no one was there.
She stopped in the middle of the gym where a lot of empty space was present, and she did a few weird taps on the ground. The floor in front of her split open revealing a staircase leading underground.
His mouth hung open as he witnessed everything from the start. He had lived in this house his whole life and he never knew something so cool as an underground secret place existed in their gym.
He was going to ask his big sis about this later, but for now, he followed after her, sticking close to her back as she told him to before taking her first step.
The path illuminated itself as they stepped deeper and deeper inside. A few minutes later they reached the end, where a large metallic gate was present. She put her hand on the scanner on the side of the wall.
Kael had noticed that beside this gate there was another one on the other end of the hallway that looked similar to this one, which made him quite curious, but right now wasn't the time to ask about it.
A soft sound came in a feminine voice.
[Identifier Aurora Morvain Entry Accepted]
The thick metallic gate opened after a few seconds, as Aurora's voice sounded.
"Kael, be as close to me as possible, alright?"
Hearing the seriousness in her voice he answered her.
"I will, big sis."
"Good," she replied.
After entering, following closely behind big sis Aurora, the first thing Kael noticed was how big the room was and how high the ceilings were. It was about 10 meters in height and the space was even bigger than the house they lived in. He felt it covered part of the garden also.
All the walls were made out of the same metal which the gate seemed to be made out of, having the same bluish-silver color.
There were many things in the big room where his attention could have been, but at this moment his attention was on only one thing at the center of the room. There was one woman and a teen who looked around the age of 15.
He couldn't tell what was happening from here, but one thing was clear—the teen was teleporting around the room and strange black slashes were being fired at the lady, but they disappeared before they could even reach her.
Even when he was far away from them, he could feel the pressure on his body from the fight that was happening in the distance.
Aurora took only a couple of steps after entering the gate and stopped there, then said to Kael.
"You can see now, Kael, how dangerous it was to be closer to little Aria right now. If Mother hadn't arrived in time, our whole house above would have been destroyed by her."
Kael had a solemn expression on his face seeing Aria like this. He also noticed the strange black energy entering her body from time to time, being created out of nowhere around her. But there was still something he didn't understand, so he asked big sis Aurora instead.
"But big sis, why is she so strong? Even when her awakening had gone a bit out of control, regardless of the rank of her talent she awakened, she shouldn't be this strong right now."
