Chapter 20 - Shadows; To Live Again

After calming down he looked towards Amelia. "I'm okay. It was just a nightmare I guess." Artemis says while wiping his eyes.

I can't say anything about what I know or how it all happens, what a terrible downside to this power. Not that anyone would really believe me if I told them anyway.

Amelia lets out a sigh of relief. "Just don't go scaring me like that again please." Amelia responds before making her way back to the door.

Rumble!!!! Crash!! Rumble!! The ship began to rock back and forth to the left and right until something smashing into the top deck could be heard.

This is how it started last time but now it changed a bit since Amelia rushed into my room. I don't have the slightest clue when it comes down to using my magic or whatever.

I do remember exactly what happened last with that girl I saw in the abyss but I haven't heard anything since then. She told me to use her so that's what I need to do in this fight against the being.

Artemis grabs his sword and rushes past Amelia, it doesn't take long for him to make it out the top deck where immediately he's met with the same gaze from before. Those same yellow eyes that stared him down last time.

Within a matter of seconds it swiftly disappeared from where it was and appeared before him. "How kind of you to make an appearance without me asking." It's malicious voice speaks.

I could feel my heartbeat racing once again as I stood before this thing, it had killed me back then. I've got to prevent that from happening this time.

A faint whisper trickles past his ear. "My knowledge is yours." Her soft spoken voice goes past.

A strange dark mist begins to flow from Artemis's hand before shifting up towards his blade. A sharp pain quickly entered his right eyes as he tried to stay focused on the enemy before him.

This pain isn't as bad as the one I felt before waking up in my bed but it's definitely not pleasant in the slightest. His left hand covers his eye as he tries to ignore the pain.

"Something wrong? I guess I shouldn't waste any time here." The Being questions before drawing a dagger.

As it draws the dagger it notices a different aura coming from Artemis, something he didn't sense moments ago. "Yes, we shouldn't waste time." Artemis responds as he lifts his blade up.

Immediately he brings his sword down to cut across the being but it manages to just barely dodge the attack while lifting it's dagger up. Artemis still kept his eye covered as he tried to keep the pain from overwhelming him.

"You will only be at a disadvantage with your eye covered child." The Being says before charging in. It rushes with no hesitation to try and bring it's blade into his chest, except something grabbed the being by its arms.

Some sort of arms made of pure black most held it in place as Artemis stood before it. "It doesn't matter." Artemis replies while slashing his sword down across its chest.

I don't know what happened when it charged at me this time around since it just suddenly stopped. What I do know is that I won't sit around and wait for it to kill me again.

His blade goes right through the fabric of its cloak and straight through its rough skin, blood began to spurt out from its chest and onto the wood floor. Still it struggles to break free from the restraints.

Artemis swiftly brings back his sword and begins to attack relentlessly, swinging harder each time until his blade was soaked in the beings blood. It cried out as he starts to finish his attack, but finally it's arms were free.

Splat. It fell into the puddle of blood on the ground and tried to move but found it was impossible. "Did you find out what you needed you asshole." Artemis says while wiping his blade off.

Thump. Thump. His heart was loud for a few moments before finally calming back down, the pain disappeared at last. He no longer needed to cover his eye that was causing the pain.

I know that this will also weigh on me after it passes but I couldn't let this thing kill me again. Being able to come back with knowledge about things is nice and all, but I don't want to die every time.

I'll do everything I can to make sure that it's my last resort in most situations until a time comes where I don't get to decide that. Like the first time I fought against this thing.

It took Artemis a moment to realize that everyone was staring intently at him as he stood above the being. Everyone seems to have their eyes locked on something with him. "Something on my face?" Artemis questions with a comedic tone.

That didn't seem to lighten the mood much but I guess they did just witness the events that happened. This being was an enemy though so it really shouldn't be that big of a deal.

"So I was right. You truly are special." Shimada Speaks up while coming out from behind one of the other sailors.

I really don't understand what's going on right now. "What?" He questions with a confused tone.

Shimada comes over to show him something with a handheld mirror. As he lifts it up to show his reflection, Artemis sees that his right eye is engulfed by a dark mist, his old blue eyes wasn't there anymore.

Don't panic, don't panic. This is probably what she meant by helping me when we talked back in the Abyss. At the same time though, my eye is gone!?!?!

"An effect of being able to use shadow magic. I didn't think you could do that until I witnessed everything with that fight." Shimada says with a bit of an impressed tone in his voice.

I would've thought that it would be a power rather than a magic or is it a mix of both?
