Chapter 39 - CHAPTER 39

c39: Changes of Warrior Z

"By the way, I've been away from Earth for so long can you catch me up on what's happened?" Li Xu asked, folding his arms.

"Not long after you left," Dende began, "Son Goku eliminated the remaining forces of the Red Ribbon Army by himself. Then he climbed Korin Tower and trained under Korin. Afterward, I asked Mr. Popo to guide him here at the Lookout for further training."

"Following that, Goku entered the next World Martial Arts Tournament. It's a shame you weren't there he defeated Tien Shinhan in the finals and claimed the championship."

"After the tournament, King Piccolo was released. But Goku was far stronger than in the original timeline and killed him with ease, saving Earth. I then recommended he train under King Kai in the Other World."

"So many events unfolded." Li Xu nodded thoughtfully.

The timeline had shifted subtly Goku's strength had grown even faster than in canon. Unlike before, where King Piccolo was a brutal threat, this time Goku defeated him without even reaching the brink of death.

"To keep from falling too far behind Goku, we started training here at The Lookout too," Krillin added, wiping sweat from his brow.

"You've all done well," Li Xu said with a smile.

Now, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien, and Chiaotzu had each reached a combat power close to 1,000, comparable to Vegeta's level during his first arrival on Earth. The butterfly effect of Li Xu's presence had significantly accelerated Earth's warrior growth.

"Li Xu, you must be on another level now, right?" Krillin asked, still unable to sense Li Xu's energy like trying to measure a god with human perception.

"More or less." Li Xu nodded calmly, his tone modest.

"You and Goku are complete monsters," Krillin said with a forced laugh. "Goku's been with King Kai nearly two years now he's probably leagues above us. Honestly, you might be the only one who can challenge him anymore."

Despite his tireless training, Krillin couldn't deny the widening gulf between himself and Goku.

"Krillin, I bet even I could beat you now," Bulma said, crossing her arms smugly.

Krillin blinked. He hadn't paid much attention earlier, but now he focused and his expression shifted to one of alarm. Though poorly controlled, Bulma's latent energy was immense.

"Wait… Bulma, when did you get so strong?" Krillin asked, flabbergasted.

"I'm a genius," Bulma declared proudly. "Even training a little makes me incredible."

"Her power comes from external means," Li Xu clarified. "She doesn't have battle instincts or combat awareness. Her power level might be high, but she couldn't beat you in a real fight."

"Hmph." Bulma turned her head, displeased that Li Xu exposed her bluff.

Her current combat power remained around 3,000 impressive, but stagnant. She hadn't seriously trained in years.

"I see," Krillin said with a nod, still awestruck at the mere idea of Bulma having such power.

"Li Xu, would you consider training us?" Tien Shinhan asked. Though it was his first time meeting Li Xu face-to-face, he'd heard many tales about him.

"I'm not much of a teacher," Li Xu admitted, shaking his head. "But I can show you how I trained."

With that, Li Xu pulled out a Capsule Corp. capsule, tossed it onto the ground, and activated it. In a puff, a gravity training room emerged, compact but highly advanced.

"This is a gravity chamber more effective than gravity suits. If you endure its settings, your strength should grow considerably."

Though the room's max setting was only 300 times Earth's gravity, it was the same model Li Xu had once used, and it would be more than enough for Tien and the others at their current level.

"Thank you!" Tien said, eyes gleaming with determination.

He wasn't afraid of pain only stagnation. Any chance to grow stronger, he would take.

"I'll reach out to Goku too," Li Xu added.

"You can contact Goku?" Krillin asked, surprised and excited.

"Mm." Li Xu nodded again.

He closed his eyes, focusing. Using telepathy, a technique he had learned from King Kai during his time in the universe, he reached out to Goku for the first time across the vast cosmic distance.

King Kai's Planet

Son Goku was immersed in training, moving rapidly across the small, high-gravity world. Over the past two years, under King Kai's guidance, he had mastered both the Kaio-ken technique and the Spirit Bomb (Genki Dama)—skills far beyond anything he'd known on Earth. But even so, he had yet to move on from his training.

"Goku!"

Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed telepathically in his mind, bringing him to a sudden halt.

"Goku, it's me Li Xu!"

"Li Xu! Where are you now?" Goku asked, his face lighting up with joy.

"I've just returned to Earth," Li Xu replied calmly.

"That's awesome! I've been wanting to fight you again for so long!" Goku shouted, nearly leaping with excitement.

"Then you'd better keep training hard," Li Xu said with a chuckle. Goku's power had grown exponentially since their last encounter, but he still wasn't on par with Li Xu, whose training in the universe had taken him to another level entirely.

"There's still a year until the next World Martial Arts Tournament—let's have a proper match there!" Goku declared with confidence, now feeling much stronger after years of intensive training under King Kai.

"We'll see," Li Xu replied. He didn't really care for a tournament at that level anymore. But he didn't want to spoil Goku's enthusiasm either.

After chatting for a few more moments, Li Xu gently severed the mental connection.

"King Kai, how strong is Li Xu now?" Goku asked, his curiosity piqued.

"I can't say for sure," King Kai replied seriously. "But even with your current strength, I doubt you could defeat him."

Goku clenched his fists. Despite his progress, he still wasn't there yet.

"King Kai, please increase my training intensity!" Goku said with determination.

"Alright," King Kai said, smiling inwardly at Goku's resolve. "I'll double your daily training. If you can endure it, maybe in a year you'll be able to hold your own against him."

"Double it?" Goku asked, wide-eyed for only a moment.

"Is that too much?" King Kai raised an eyebrow.

"No! If I hold back now, I'll never surpass Li Xu," Goku said firmly. He could sense from King Kai's tone that the gap between them was still immense.

"Then it's settled," King Kai said, admiring Goku's fighting spirit.

......

Earth – The Lookout (Temple of Heaven)

Li Xu slowly opened his eyes, ending his telepathic call with Goku.

"Goku will be joining the next World Martial Arts Tournament. You should all prepare yourselves," he said, a calm smile on his face.

"I won't lose to Goku this time," said Tien Shinhan, his eyes burning with resolve. He had pushed himself relentlessly and had no intention of being left behind again.

"We'll work hard too," Krillin added. "When Goku returns, he'll be shocked by how strong we've become."

"I'll take my leave for now. See you all at the tournament next year," Li Xu said. Now that he had a full picture of what had transpired on Earth, there was no need to linger at the Lookout.

"Right."

With that, Li Xu gently picked up Bulma and flew toward West City, this time opting not to use Instant Transmission. The skies were clear, and the flight peaceful.

"Chiaotzu, let's start our training," Tien said after Li Xu left. Without hesitation, the two entered the gravity chamber.

Inside, Tien immediately increased the gravity to 10 times Earth's normal a level that pressed down on them like a mountain. Their bodies trembled under the weight, but neither gave in.

They gritted their teeth and endured it true warriors forging their path the only way they knew how: through relentless effort.
