c44: The Reunion Before the Martial Arts Conference
In the blink of an eye, more than half a year had passed since Li Xu's journey to Planet Namek.
...Personal Status Panel...
Name: Li Xu
Age: 25
Combat Power: 6,000,000
Mastered Law: Law of Force (10/100)
Possessed Plug-ins:
– Intermediate Auto-Training Plug-in (automatically increases combat power by 200 points per day)
– Intermediate Perception Plug-in (can instantly learn two-star techniques)
– Legendary Super Saiyan Bloodline Plug-in
– Nuclear Regeneration Plug-in
Since acquiring the Legendary Super Saiyan bloodline, the effect of the auto-training plug-in had increased tenfold. Li Xu couldn't help but marvel at the genetic power inherent in Saiyan heritage even Broly's canon form was only barely tamed through years of struggle. This plug-in transformed Li Xu's progress into a monstrous ascent.
However, his progress in comprehending the Law of Force had clearly slowed after reaching 10%. As he expected, mastering cosmic-level laws followed a steep curve, with diminishing returns the further one advanced.
"The World Martial Arts Tournament begins tomorrow are you entering?" Bulma asked, jogging up to him.
In the past half year, the villa on the island had been completed. Their wedding plans were nearly finalized, and once the tournament passed, the two would hold their long-awaited ceremony.
"I'll enter," Li Xu replied calmly.
Although a tournament of this caliber was far beneath his current strength, attending was more for entertainment and he knew Goku well. Even if Li Xu didn't sign up, Goku would find him and challenge him anyway.
"Then let's head there now. We can register before today's deadline," Bulma said with a grin.
"Mm."
They took to the sky, flying toward the tournament grounds. Thanks to her recently unlocked potential, Bulma now had a combat power of 4,000 not Saiyan-level, but enough to fly swiftly without tiring.
As they neared the tournament grounds, they landed away from the crowd and approached the entrance on foot.
"Li Xu! Bulma! Over here!" called Krillin.
They followed the voice and arrived at the rest of the group, who had arrived just moments earlier.
"Li Xu, we finally get to have a proper match!" said Goku excitedly.
He had recently returned to Earth from King Kai's Planet, after completing his post-Namek training. He had traveled with Krillin, Tien, and the others from Kami's Lookout to the tournament site.
"Wow, Goku! You've gotten so tall!" Bulma exclaimed in surprise.
"We all noticed it. It's crazy how much he changed," Krillin added, still a bit envious. "Three years training with King Kai really does wonders."
"I don't know why I suddenly shot up," Goku laughed, scratching the back of his head. "Guess my body just caught up."
"If you want to fight me, you'll have to get through someone else first," Li Xu said with a smile, turning his gaze to the distant clock tower.
Atop the tower stood a lone figure Piccolo. Three days earlier, Li Xu had returned to Namek to bring him back, just in time for the tournament.
"Piccolo Daimao…" Goku muttered, his expression turning serious.
Though he had defeated the original Demon King Piccolo years ago, Kami had deliberately withheld details about this new incarnation. But Goku could tell this Piccolo was far more powerful.
"Wait—wasn't Piccolo Daimao killed?" Krillin asked. But this time there was no fear in his voice. Because of Li Xu's intervention in past events, Krillin had not been killed by Tambourine or the other demon warriors during the original arc.
"This one is his reincarnation the next generation of Demon King Piccolo," Li Xu explained. "He's much stronger than the original."
Had Li Xu not taken him to Namek for training, Krillin and the others might have been able to keep up with Piccolo. But now, after his time on Namek, Piccolo had grown too powerful for the rest of the Earthlings.
"I'll beat him!" Goku said, fire lighting in his eyes. Another powerful rival had entered the fray.
Piccolo, standing silently atop the clock tower, glanced coldly in the direction of Li Xu and the others. His narrowed eyes held no emotion. With a dismissive snort, he turned away and blasted into the sky, disappearing from view with a burst of ki.
"Li Xu, have you signed up yet?" Krillin asked, watching Piccolo vanish with lingering unease.
"Not yet," Li Xu nodded.
"There are way more people entering the tournament this time compared to the last one," Tien Shinhan commented. "Though I'm not sure how many of them are truly strong."
"I doubt anyone stronger than us would still be hiding on Earth," Yamcha said confidently. "We've been training under Kami at the Lookout for years now. Our power's on a whole different level."
"I'm heading over to register first," Li Xu said with a relaxed wave. "See you all tomorrow."
"Yeah, see you!"
After completing the registration process, Li Xu and Bulma checked into a nearby hotel. With the tension of the upcoming tournament and their wedding plans looming, the night turned into a quiet yet intimate confrontation where, inevitably, Bulma gave in to Li Xu's persistent charm.
By the time dawn broke the next day, the martial arts arena was already buzzing with activity. Li Xu and Bulma arrived early, eager for the excitement to come.
Using Instant Transmission, Li Xu teleported himself and Bulma directly into the interior viewing area, allowing her to watch the preliminary rounds. Spectators weren't normally allowed at this stage, but Li Xu had long stopped worrying about rules that didn't suit him.
"Li Xu, you finally made it! The lottery's about to start," Krillin called out as they approached.
"I went to bed late," Li Xu said with a chuckle. Beside him, Bulma shot him a sharp glare and gave his waist a firm pinch, silently warning him with a mix of irritation and embarrassment.
"To avoid fighting each other in the prelims, we'll let Chiaotzu separate our numbers," said Tien Shinhan. Chiaotzu's telekinesis made it easy to subtly influence the lottery results without arousing suspicion.
Li Xu simply shrugged. It didn't matter to him who he faced no one here could offer real competition anyway.
Clap clap!
Suddenly, someone tapped Goku's shoulder twice from behind. Everyone turned and was surprised to see a beautiful girl standing there, her long black hair swaying gently.
"Son Goku!" the girl said brightly.
"Huh? Who are you?" Goku blinked, tilting his head in confusion.
"Idiot!" The girl's expression immediately shifted from cheerful to furious, and she shouted so loudly that Goku actually took a step back.
"I-I really don't know who you are!" Goku stammered, visibly flustered.
The girl spun around and stormed off without another word, leaving a confused Goku and an even more intrigued group behind.
"Goku! You know someone that pretty?" Krillin asked, his eyes wide with envy.
"Yeah, who was that?" Bulma asked with interest, raising an eyebrow.
"I feel like I've seen her before, but I can't remember," Goku admitted, scratching his head.
"You've not only seen her, you promised to marry her," Li Xu said with a teasing grin. "That's Chichi, daughter of the Ox-King. She's grown up quite a bit."
She was strikingly beautiful now, though unlike Bulma's flirtatious charm, Chichi's innocence made her even more captivating in her own way.
"What?! You made a marriage promise to her?" Krillin exclaimed, more surprised and more envious than ever.
"When did I do that?" Goku looked genuinely bewildered, deep in thought.
"I remember now!" Bulma said, snapping her fingers. "Back when we were on Mount Frypan, Chichi asked you to marry her. You thought it meant something simple and said yes."
"I think I did say something like that…" Goku said slowly, and then laughed. "But… what does 'marry' mean?"
Krillin, Yamcha, and the others immediately collapsed in disbelief at Goku's cluelessness.
"Marrying her means holding a wedding ceremony and then living together—like what Li Xu and I are about to do," Bulma explained, smiling as she took the opportunity to share her big news. "We're getting married soon, and you're all invited."
"I really envy you guys…" Krillin muttered, a bit deflated. He'd trained his body, but his love life was still lagging behind.
