Chapter 37 - Chapter 37; They were being watched

They were gone, and there's nothing like what if! They could only live with regret, but there wasn't medicine for regret being sold anywhere.

"I can't even bring those perpetrators to justice, I can't even find out what had happened then!" He turned around and walked out of the cemetery gate. They had built the tombstones just close to the gate and under a tree, where they thought it could be a peaceful spot.

"All the CCTV camera footage was completely erased, so we may never know what had happened." Secretary Yu loudly sighed because this was a painful incident that his Master regrets every single day.

"All right, let's go over to the Southern District." He went back into the car as the guard drove him away to the South. It was 11 o'clock at night, and he didn't have any plans of going back to the main mansion.

After Shen Ruyi had left that mansion, and Shen Mei took over, his parents and Shen Mei fought daily over every slight thing and they had also began comparing her with Shen Ruyi, to avoid all that mess, Li Feng had decided to buy another mansion where he settled his parents, and this also became his home where he could take a break away from everything.

SOUTHERN DISTRICT

LI FENG'S PRIVATE RESIDENCE

The wind howled through the tall hedges flanking the estate gates. Unlike the opulence of the main Li Mansion, this residence bore a colder, more minimalist aesthetic, grey stone walls, large glass windows, and a garden left half-tamed by time. It was never meant to be a family home, only a retreat… or a refuge for him.

Without Shen Ruyi, no place ever felt like home.

Li Feng stepped out of the vehicle that was parked in the garage, his shoes crunching the gravel path beneath his feet, and headed over to the entrance door of the mansion.

Secretary Yu followed in silence, watching his master's broad shoulders droop under the weight of memories. Memories he couldn't erase and were full of regret.

Inside the residence, the air was still. The lights flickered on automatically, revealing a stark interior. His parents were already asleep as it was almost midnight. The servants were also retired to their quarters already.

Li Feng walked straight into his study room and poured himself a glass of whiskey. He took a long sip, the silence louder than ever.

"Bring me those files, there's something I want to check," he said without turning around. He walked over and settled down on the couch, leaning back exhausted.

Secretary Yu got the file from the drawer, placed a thin, worn folder on the desk. It had no title on it, only a single paperclip holding the contents together.

Li Feng sat and flipped it open, checking every little detail. Inside were grainy images, reports of the CCTV footage, and a few images, and an envelope that had once been sealed with a crimson wax emblem, now broken.

He got his tablet and began watching the CCTV footage that was captured from the Li mansion; he could see a car following from behind; it was a black car with a silly number plate. Shen Ruyi was wearing a simple outfit while carrying a backpack, while his son wore pajamas, showing that they weren't going far.

"They were being watched," Li Feng muttered as he watched the clips carefully, but getting to the highway, the car completely vanished like it had gone through black spots and never showed up, he slightly narrowed his eyes.

"It could be...." Secretary Yu didn't know how this situation turned out like this.
