Julian Sia ruffled the girl's hair, seeing a small tuft stand up, humor glinted in his eyes.
"Claire, get in the car."
His sudden intimate gesture left Claire Green momentarily blank.
Her eyelids twitched, and she smiled, "I'm fine, you can go."
"Unless Claire wants brother to carry you up, hmm?"
Julian bent down and whispered gently in her ear, the final "hmm" carrying a teasing undertone.
Their actions looked so intimate to Isabella Xyler that she felt excited.
My shipped couple is giving me sweet moments.
Not expecting Julian to say such words, Claire's pupils contracted, and she slipped past him.
Afraid that the next second this man would actually follow through on his words.
She quickly headed for the car, opened the door, and sat down in one smooth motion.
Julian saw her actions and chuckled softly.
Once both were in the car, Charles Jordan, perceptive as ever, raised the divider.
Claire was silent as she got in the car, the scent of mild pinewood filling the air, just like the man's fragrance.
Smelling this aroma, Claire's eyelids grew heavier, and she eventually fell asleep.
Julian glanced sideways, seeing her sleeping soundly against the glass, he couldn't help but smile.
"Charles, increase the temperature a bit," Julian pressed the divider button and spoke softly.
"Yes," Charles responded, tapping the screen, and from the rearview mirror, he saw his boss gently adjusting the girl's head to rest on his shoulder, most importantly, taking off his own jacket to cover her.
He was internally shocked, "I recall there's a blanket in the back, and is this gentle person really our young master Sia?"
"Young master, are we heading to the hospital?" Although surprised, Charles maintained a composed demeanor.
"To Jade Residence."
...
The car drove all the way to Jade Residence, finally stopping at the entrance.
Thinking that the person beside him would wake after parking, but there was no movement.
Julian's expression changed, reaching over, he realized the girl's body was burning hot.
"Go call Zeke Tuner," now not caring about anything else, Julian picked up the girl and quickly entered the house.
Butler Uncle Li came out upon hearing the noise, seeing his young master carrying someone upstairs.
He rubbed his eyes in disbelief, thinking, "Am I seeing things? It seems like the young master is carrying a girl."
Upstairs, Julian carefully placed Claire on the bed, speaking coldly, "Zeke isn't here yet?"
Charles had a somewhat disheartened look, nodding in response, "He's on his way."
My dear young master, it's been less than three minutes, even if Dr. Zeke could fly, he couldn't possibly be so fast.
Five minutes later, a bespectacled man in a white coat appeared at Jade Residence.
"What's going on, Master Julian?" Zeke questioned upon seeing a girl lying on Julian's bed.
"She has a fever, go check," Julian ignored him and simply spoke slowly.
Only now did he realize he might be overly tense.
Not getting a desired answer, Zeke shrugged and went forward to take her temperature.
Seeing the number on the thermometer, he whistled, "40 degrees, this young lady is something else."
"If you keep babbling, you won't be doing any more research," Julian coldly looked at him, a chill surrounding him.
With those words.
Zeke's mouth twitched, thinking to himself, "Are you even human, pulling funding on a whim?"
But he dared not say it aloud, for the sake of future research, he quickly administered an antipyretic injection to Claire.
"All done, the antipyretic shot is given, without accidents, she should wake by evening." Zeke stood up, handing over the medicine, "When she wakes, have her take two pills."
Taking the medicine, Julian unceremoniously ordered him out, "You can leave now."
Hearing that, Zeke opened his eyes wide in accusation, "Seriously, Master Julian? I rushed over as soon as I got the call, didn't even have a sip of water and now you're kicking me out? It's not right to use and toss me aside."
"Charles, take him downstairs for some tea, don't let him leave until he's had his fill," Julian's expression was indifferent, showing no sign of joking.
Charles smiled slightly, "Sure, Dr. Zeke, let's go."
Upon hearing this, Zeke didn't dare to linger for tea, grabbing his medical kit and darting away.
From afar, they could still hear him cursing, "Julian Sia, damn you, I'm not coming next time."
Hearing this, Julian raised his handsome brow, thinking maybe he had invested too much again.
...
Claire awoke that evening, and looking at the room's decor, she frowned.
She was in that man's room.
Getting out of bed, she smelled a pleasant aroma and headed straight downstairs.
There, she saw the man lounging on the sofa, head lowered, reading some files. Hearing the noise, he looked up, their eyes meeting.
"I thought I might see a domesticated side of you, brother," Claire's lips curved as she looked pointedly toward the kitchen.
At that moment, Julian understood what she meant, and he put down the document in his hands.
His gaze was deep, with a hint of teasing, a lazy undertone wrapped in humor.
"Claire, how come getting sick made you start dreaming?"
Claire: "..."
As they locked eyes, the kitchen door opened, and a middle-aged woman came out carrying a bowl of porridge.
Seeing Claire, she smiled warmly, "Miss, you're awake, come have some porridge."
Faced with her kindness, Claire didn't have the heart to refuse, she walked over and sat down.
"Thank you."
"Just call me Auntie Ye," the woman said, very pleased with such a polite and good-looking girl.
Claire sipped the porridge, feeling a warm sensation in her stomach.
"Auntie Ye, I'm Claire Green, sorry for bothering you so late to cook porridge for me." Claire showed a hint of apology.
Auntie Ye quickly shook her head, "No need to be so polite, Miss Claire."
Meanwhile, Julian poured a glass of water, placing the pills and water on the table, "Take your medicine first."
Claire glanced at it, seemingly not hearing, and took another slow sip of porridge.
"Knock knock—"
Julian tapped the table lightly, his deep voice bearing an undertone of authority.
"Claire, take your medicine."
"Didn't know brother was such a helpful person, even needing to oversee medicine-taking now."
Claire curved her lips, responding as she quickly took the medicine.
No sooner had she spoken.
Julian placed both hands on the back of her chair, his lips curling slowly and indifferently speaking, "Claire is this brother's busybody."
Sensing this, Auntie Ye couldn't suppress her smile, discreetly retreating.
It was her first time seeing the young master bring a girl home, and being so gentle, it seemed the old master needn't worry anymore.
Claire drank the porridge calmly, not caring how intimate their current posture might be.
"Brother, want some porridge?" Claire asked with a playful gleam in her eyes.
Originally intending to tease him, she hadn't expected he'd not play by conventional rules.
"If Claire were to feed me, it's a thought,"
The man's gaze deepened, his emotions unreadable, he then chuckled softly.
