Chapter 39
Levin whispered, "The client has arrived!"
A strange vehicle stopped in front of the building. It was not a normal vehicle, but something I had never seen before, made of shiny black metal, with no wheels, floating a few feet above the ground, and with transparent wings on both sides.
A tall figure emerged, wearing a long dark coat that covered his entire body and a silver mask that covered his face. He had a powerful aura, radiating strength and mystery.
Kayyan breathed heavily and took a step forward: "Welcome, agent. We have prepared the sample as you requested."
His tone was a mixture of fear and respect.
I looked at Kayyan, whose face had turned pale, his eyes filled with fear I had never seen before. The agent approached with steady steps, not uttering a word. Even through the silver mask, his gaze seemed sharp and frightening.
The man in the silver mask remained silent, staring at us one by one as if his eyes were piercing through our bodies. When it was my turn to be stared at, I felt a strange prickling sensation deep inside this new body. It wasn't fear, but a strange feeling, as if the man in the silver mask could see something in me that no one else could.
"Where is he?" the man asked in a deep voice, echoing as if it came from another world.
"This..." Kayyan began to stammer, beads of sweat appearing on his forehead.
"We dissected it."
Silence fell.
The man in the silver mask voice had sounded like a low growl, but the silence that followed was even more frightening. I felt the air around us grow heavier. "What did you do?" the silver mask man repeated, his tone unchanged, but I sensed a simmering anger behind his mask.
"Are you mocking me? I told you to wait for me!"
Drax trembled and said in a quivering voice, "No... no, sir! Something strange happened. We... we waited, but he was brutally attacked by a strange creature before we could capture him."
"Enough lies." The man in the silver mask interrupted him coldly, then turned directly to me. "You, what is your name?"
I stared at him steadily, thinking about how this charade would continue. Part of me wanted to do something crazy, to joke with him or something. But another part, perhaps my future self that had disappeared, urged me to be cautious.
"My name is Thayron," I said in a hoarse voice, trying to make my tone sound as confident as possible.
The man in the silver mask continued to stare at me.
"You're interesting, Thayron." The man in the silver mask said, and his silver mask seemed to shine even brighter.
I asked quietly as I lowered my head: "What do you mean?"
He looked at me and didn't answer, but asked another question: "Where is his dissected body?"
"It's in there, in the box," I said, pointing to the box behind Kayyan. "But we need to be careful because the strange creature that killed him is strange, and we need to get away from here before examining the pieces," I added a few sentences so that he wouldn't examine the box right now. After all, the pieces were disappearing, and I didn't know if he would notice or not.
"Move away so I can see the box," said the man in the silver mask as he stepped forward.
"This..." Kayyan tried to stop him but to no avail.
Whoosh! The man in the silver mask opened it forcefully.
"What the hell is this?" He was silent for a few seconds before shouting and pulling a severed piece of my body out of the box: "What kind of lunatic did this?"
