Chapter 45
Lurman's Perspective
----
"Someone landed there!" I shouted when I saw a shadow jump out of the vehicle of its own accord, and I saw its shadow fall down, hitting the trees below until it landed heavily on the ground.
I quickly approached the shadow, but I saw someone wearing a silver mask jumping out of the vehicle, and next to him was a floating box with an old man clinging to it.
"The Crow!" I gritted my teeth in anger as I recognized the person jumping out of the vehicle and quickly drew my sword to attack him before he landed on the ground.
Boom!
Boom!
Boom!
The vehicle exploded when I attacked him with my sword as I got close enough, but he pulled his sword from its sheath at his waist and swung at me. I tried to kick him in the air and spin around him, but he took out a round metal ball and threw it at me and...
Boom!
The ball exploded and purple smoke spread across the sky, protecting him as he landed smoothly on the ground with the box and an old man clinging to it beside him.
I wasn't going to let him get away, so I moved quickly after him, dodging the cloud of poison.
"Hello, Lurman, or should I say traitor?" shouted the silver mask crow as he blocked my attack and moved his wrist to throw hidden weapons.
"Grabbaaa!" I shouted angrily as I blocked the small insects he threw at me and raised my shield to protect my remaining eye from the insect heading towards it. "Is that all you've got, you coward?" I shouted as I cast the [Red Balls] spell, sending bright red flames flying toward him as the silver mask crow advanced in front of me.
But the silver mask crow didn't budge. Instead, it raised its left arm, from which a small shield expanded from a piece of metal on its arm.
It looked like a small shield, but it was no ordinary shield. When the fireball hit the shield, it didn't just dissipate but began to flow through a complex network of glowing circles on the surface of the shield, as if absorbing the vital energy from the spell and transforming it into something else.
"A drain shield, Lurman! All the magic you direct at me comes back to you!" The silver mask raven cawed mockingly, his eyes gleaming behind his mask.
Moments later, a small ball of distorted energy shot out of the shield, heading toward me, but I quickly activated my shield to deflect it.
The silver mask crow not only deflects my magic but also recycles it against me. This is a tactic unique to advanced anti-magic techniques.
"I saw a shadow land over there! Hezra, go after him, Ferma, grab that old man!" I said quickly as I destroyed the insects with my energy.
"Yes, sir!"
"Yes, sir!"
Ferma and Hezra responded, drew their swords, and moved forward.
Boom!
The silver mask crow noticed Ferma and Hezra's attempt to advance, and his eyes flashed behind his mask.
He took a small device that looked like a whistle out of his robe and blew into it. I didn't hear a sound, but dozens of small mechanical insects, resembling spiders with sharp teeth and glowing red eyes, began to emerge from his robe.
"No one will advance from here!" shouted the silver mask crow, pushing his sword forward to keep them in place.
The mechanical insects spread out at an insane speed, heading toward Ferma. Their speed was astonishing, and their jumping ability made them dangerous. The crow was using them only as a distraction, to hinder any progress toward his goal.
"Back off! Those insects... They're for sucking out vital energy!" she shouted warningly. These insects were designed to attack wizards, gradually draining their vital energy until they were powerless.
Ferma didn't hesitate. She raised her sword and cast the Wind Hurricane spell, sending a wave of energy mixed with wind toward the insects. The mechanical insects collided with the storm and scattered into the air.
"Sir! I can't advance! These insects are endless!" Hezra screamed, her face pale from exhaustion and fatigue.
She was rapidly consuming Vitality to defend and attack the mechanical insects.
But before Lurman could think of advancing too far, the man in the silver mask threw three red balls into the air, disintegrating their structure and spreading a group of red shadows that quickly descended toward them.
"Watch out! Those are poisonous needles!" I warned them quickly, but my cry was too late.
Ferma raised her sword and cast a spell to spread a shining shield to protect her from the red needles, but Hazra was a second too late to activate her shield, and the poisonous needles from the silver mask crow's red ball pierced her arm, stomach, and thigh.
"Uncle..." Hezra screamed in terror as blood dripped from her mouth.
"The crow!"
Anger burned in my veins like a flame. Attacking a member of my team and injuring them was an insult to me!
