Chapter 43 - Commander Lurman

Chapter 44

Lurman's Perspective

----

"Commander Lurman! There's no target here. It looks like they've left," shouted a man raising his wooden staff as he looked at me.

I stood in front of a deep pit. It was an endless pit, shrouded in darkness, but I saw a door at the bottom of the pit with my enhanced vision.

We were now on top of a hill in the middle of the forest. Trees surrounded us on three sides, and in the middle was a large pit surrounded by scattered rocks.

"Orion, Ian. Look for traces of magic left here and behind that metal door at the bottom of the hole," I said as I scanned my surroundings for signs of those who had been there. "They haven't gone far. There are traces of a DT04 vehicle. Its speed is low, so we should be able to catch up with it,"

"Sir, I found them. The vehicle is moving northwest," said Hazra as she lowered her hands. "They are 200 kilometers away from the capital."

"Let's go," I said as I lifted myself off the ground using wind magic. "Orion and Ian, stay here. Ferma and Hazra, come with me."

I began to float up into the sky, with Ferma and Hezra following me.

We moved at high speed using wind magic. It was a simple skill, but one that required a person to have enough Vital to use it even slightly above the basic level.

Vital is the life energy that flows through all living things, from the smallest microorganisms to humans, and even in the fabric of nature itself.

It is not just magical energy, but the fundamental energy that connects the body, mind, and spirit. For a wizard, Vital is the only source of magic; no spell can be cast, and no supernatural ability can be manifested without consuming Vital.

Humans are born with a small amount of Vital. High-level monsters, or geniuses, may have a much larger supply than normal humans.

However, with training and regular practice, an individual's ability to store Vitality more efficiently increases, giving them better control over its flow to store higher reserves.

Wizard ranking levels Vitality users are, of course, different.

Basic level: They have a basic amount of vital energy, enough to cast very basic spells.

They often focus on learning the basics of vital energy control, such as igniting small flames, moving light objects, or enhancing their senses. They lack precision and may feel exhausted after a few uses.

Intermediate Level: They have a larger reserve and better ability to direct vital energy than the basic level and can cast more complex spells that require a continuous flow of energy, such as creating stronger protective shields, firing magic projectiles more effectively, or healing minor wounds.

There are also the advanced level, the mentor level, and the cloud level. Few people have reached the cloud level, and the most powerful families in the kingdoms have a mentor-level wizard and a few advanced-level wizards below them. After all, it is difficult to gather enough vital energy without various external stimuli.

"Commander. We're closing in on them. They're 10 kilometers below us," said Hezra. "They're there."

"Prepare to attack. Fire a barrage of concentrated fireballs at them. If the target is among them, it will remain alive even after the vehicle crashes."

After giving my instructions, Ferma and Hezra pulled out a long, thin stick. This stick helps to focus the vital energy to launch spells at a specific point or spread it around the user (the wizard).

"Fire!" I shouted when I saw them ready to launch the fireball spell [Red Ball Spell] toward the vehicle.

Boom!

Boom!

The fireball spell [Red Ball Spell] hit the vehicle, causing the side of the DT04 in front of us to tear apart.

"Again!" I ordered as we quickly approached the vehicle.

Boom!

Boom!

The fireball spell [Red Ball Spell] hit the vehicle again with force, and I saw two people fall out of it quickly.

"Let's go!" I shouted as they stored their equipment when I saw the vehicle fall to the ground, followed by lines of smoke and fire. I didn't want to miss the target and give him a chance to escape. I had to get close to him to find out who he was or capture them all to find out.
