Chapter 44 - The Milar Village

Chapter 43

Perspective: Lurman

----

"Sigh..."

After leaving the room, I walked down a brightly lit hallway, as if the light was trying to dispel the shadows that had accumulated in my soul.

The walls were decorated with beautiful curtains, or so they seemed to me at that moment, perhaps because my remaining eyes were searching for any glimmer of beauty to distract them from the ugliness of reality.

The luxurious fabrics and coordinated colors seemed elegant and beautiful, but it was a static beauty, empty and soulless.

No one really cared about decorating this place, or at least that's how I felt. Everything seemed to have been placed there to serve a specific function, not to evoke any feeling of warmth or life, like a well-designed stage waiting to be filled with actors and an audience to give it meaning.

This contrast between superficial beauty and spiritual emptiness struck me deeply as if the place perfectly reflected my own state of mind.

"Commander Lurman!"

I walked down the hallway until I reached room 37 and stopped in front of a young woman with bright eyes who raised her hand in greeting.

Hezra was twenty-two years old, with a slender body, black hair, and green eyes.

Hezra was not just an ordinary teenager; she was a powerful warrior despite her lack of field experience.

"Recruit Hezra, is Ferma back?" I asked as I stood in front of the small room.

"Yes, sir, she just got back and is training in the courtyard," Hezra replied as I looked inside the room to search for Ferma.

"Get ready to move soon," I said as I walked away from the room.

Hezra shouted so loudly that it almost deafened me as I passed by her.

"Yes, sir!"

I put my hand over my deformed ear as a joke and said playfully,

"No need to shout in my ear, I don't care about formalities."

"Hehehe."

The girl laughed as she clutched her robe:

"Okay, uncle."

I smiled for a moment but replied sternly:

"I'm not your uncle here. I'm Commander Lurman."

The girl said:

"Yes, sir!"

I said:

"Who am I?"

The girl said:

"Commander Lurman!"

I nodded as I walked toward the square, and after walking for ten minutes, I arrived at a large square reserved for elite training.

Boom!

I saw Ferma moving quickly and nimbly while dodging small flying insects. What I saw moving quickly and nimbly around Ferma were not just ordinary flying insects, but precise mechanical simulators designed specifically for training soldiers.

These insects were machine simulations designed to train soldiers against the kingdom's forces, who used machines in combat.

These mechanical insects had characteristics that made them extremely effective at simulating real threats. They are very small, perhaps the size of a palm or smaller, making them difficult to spot and track. Their design mimics real insects such as dragonflies, bees, or flying beetles, but they are made of durable metal. They have thin, transparent wings that are almost invisible to increase their stealth.

They are made of extremely lightweight materials, giving them superior maneuverability and the ability to fly at high speeds and in unpredictable ways.

They can change direction suddenly and sharply, and land and take off at high speeds, mimicking the movements of high-speed wizards using wind magic.

These simulations are not just games; they are vital tools for increasing the trainee's speed, enhancing their reflexes, and developing their ability to adapt to the mechanical threats that have become an integral part of the kingdom's tactics.

"Recruit Ferma!"

I shouted after entering the courtyard, and Ferma stopped the simulation when she noticed me approaching her.

"Sir!"

Ferma rushed towards me, and despite the sweat dripping from her forehead from training, her red hair glistened in the light of the spacious hall, giving her a magnificent appearance.

"We're going out on a mission in two hours. Meet me at the exit after you get your equipment ready," I said as I approached her.

"Am I going?" Ferma asked. "What about the punishment?"

" Yes, the commander has allowed you to go out to pursue a new target near the Milarvillage in the Kingdom of Krothia," I said, watching her expression. "This time, I will not allow any mistakes! Do you understand, Private Ferma? "

Upon hearing what I said, Ferma's face froze for a moment, but she quickly raised her hands and shouted, "Yes, sir!"

"Good, I will be supervising this mission. Go get your equipment ready to move out in ten minutes," I said as I walked away, leaving her standing alone in the courtyard.

"Sigh..." I sighed as I walked away.

Ferma is a defiant character who disobeys orders because she is spoiled by her father. Why do I have to take responsibility for a girl who failed her first mission? Is it because she is the daughter of a prestigious family that supports the organization?
