A TV kicks on, instantly interrupting the conversation between Saito and Fumiko. "Today we mourn for one of the greatest heroes we've ever had, Warden. He was a great light in our city in the darkest of times, holding the rank of #1, he died to protect us all." A news reporter continues on.
Warden, I've heard of the number one hero quite a few times and it was never because I wanted to. He was the number one hero for the last few years and he was a master of manipulating these "Abyss's." Whatever that could mean.
I can't say it's all that surprising since a lot of rumors went around about him having the issue of succumbing to a darker part of his power. Something that could consume him if he wasn't careful, but those were only rumors after all.
"Warden did his best every day for the sake of humanity and we couldn't thank him more for his sacrifice." The Reporter goes on.
Fumiko doesn't seem to pay much attention to the TV as she looks towards Saito. "He wouldn't have just sacrificed himself like that, that's not how he is. Something is brewing in the shadows, I can sense it." Fumiko speaks up with a bit of her usual joy gone from her voice.
It only makes sense that she would know him since she is ranked pretty high up there just like he is. I just figured him dying would mean it's an opportunity for another hero to take the spot.
Its not like there's a shortage of heroes by any means or at least not a shortage of strong ones. We haven't had an issue like that ever so I'm sure everything will work out as it needs to.

I kind of thought that the one skill did share a similar outcome but at least I got to pick the ones I wanted this time around. It'll be nice having the ability to choose what I want to take going forward.
"You seem like you were lost in thought for a minute there Saito." Fumiko points out with a more curious expression across her face.
I didn't really take into account how it looks when I'm using this system since I've never paid attention to it yet. I must've looked so stupid in front of her doing this...
"I was just thinking about what that means for the current heroes." Saito manages to come up with some elaborate lie.
She crosses her arms as the curious look fades away. "It means people will be moving up in ranks today, I'll be #2 and—" she gets cut off before she can finish her sentence as a bunch of people begin to scream outside.
What's going on?
As they both peak outside they can see someone slashing through civilians with a sword, blood staining the sidewalks as he continues to walk forward.
W-Who the hell is that guy!?! He's just casually strolling through the streets killing people.
Fumiko immediately rushes out of the shop to fight against this mysterious man, he was dressed with a more modern knight look to his armor mixed in with some shades of gold and black.

So I can get stronger physically too but at some point it won't matter due to the type of system I have anyway. I just need to capitalize on everything I have for the time being until my skills are stronger.
I also hate how accurate the damn physical stats are to me in actuality. It pisses me off so much but I got to get out there and help her somehow.
Saito runs out the shop and just barely catches up to where Fumiko is in front of the man. "Lady Celeste and some man I've never seen before, how lucky for me." The man speaks with a bit of disappointment in his voice.
I'm guessing he wasn't expecting to deal with either of us and probably was trying to get the attention of a different hero. Not that I'm a hero here or anything.
