* Lynn POV
I watched and made sure that Lea went inside and shut the door before turning to Bethany. I didn't need her overhearing everything that we were going to discuss, especially when Max got there.
"Are you one hundred percent sure that everything is in place and all the safety measures created are in place? I do not need Lea to be able to escape and run away from Max. I also do not need Max to not follow the rules and overstep. I do not put it past that cocky bastard to try and take more than he is supposed to." I ask for what seemed the hundredth time.
Bethany pouted and whimpered out "Yes daddy, everything is perfect. "
More seriously she stated, "This is one of the strongest enchantments that I have found. Once both of them are inside, the locks will engage and she will not be able to leave until Max leaves.
"If she tries to leave before him, she will be shocked and thrown away from the door. Also, if Max tries to enjoy his time longer than he paid for he will be dealt with by the enchantment. Max will have exactly one hour with her after that hour is up and he hasn't left the enchantment will be activated. It will be very painful for him."
Looking at her questioningly, I had so many doubts going through my head, but I didn't even have to express my doubts before she started explaining again.
"It is one of the strongest enchantments that I found and I have already tested it with one of the helpers. The enchantment most definitely works perfectly. Oh, by the way Dave may have died during the test."
She made a frowning face, although I could tell she really wasn't upset.
That girl had a dark side.
"What did you do with his body?" I asked, annoyed. Goddess, I hope she didn't leave his body in the room. "Please tell me it is not still in the room. That will not be a very good selling point."
Bethany gasped, "What do you take me for, an idiot. I transported his body back to his house. That way someone else will have to deal with the body. An added bonus is hopefully that his wife found him, I never liked that bitch. She was always such a rude *whore"
"Weren't you sleeping with her husband? Her rudeness may have been justified," I asked, clearly bored with her comment.
She put on her best pouty face she had, "Yes, and because she caught us once, doesn't mean she has to be a bitch about it. Really it was her fault, he wanted to have sex with me. If she was doing what a good wife should do and performing well enough in bed, he wouldn't have invited me into it."
I really didn't have anything to say back to that.
Honestly good riddance. He was an OK employee, but as an individual he was not the best.
I do not need a bastard that could cheat on his wife working for me anyways. Besides, I do not interfere with Bethany's personal life. She knows how I feel about mates, but she does not have a wolf or even the mentality of a wolf so she would not understand.
"So, were you a little surprised that Max agreed to all the conditions? Because I sure as hell wasn't." Bethany asked her curiosity to get the better of her.
"As a friend from the cigar lounge, no I am not surprised." I said through gritted teeth. I knew Max way too well, and there was not much that I could say about him that was in a positive light.
She looked thoughtful for a second then stated, "He is a little sadistic isn't he. Some of the questions or comments that he put on his application were pretty concerning. If I actually cared about the little slut, I would have denied his application."
I looked at her skeptically.
"Ok, I could give a damn. I really don't even care about the application or rather I am not using the applications to vet any of the potential clients. I am just using them to be nosey and see if there is anything we could use against them in the future."
Well that makes more sense, she always is thinking of what will benefit her or the company, which in turn benefits her as well. She can be a real cold hearted bitch at times.
I didn't comment any further on that however because I could hear Max walking around the side of the house, heading towards us.
"Now, quiet down he is walking up." I glanced over at Bethany to make sure that she was presentable and ready to deal with our customer. Which I don't even know why I bother doing so, she is always professional, even more so than me sometimes.
I took in the appearance of the man walking up my backyard.
He is in his late 40s, and I know he has a wife and at least three kids at home. That is one thing that disgusts me about humans. They have no sense of commitment; they could cheat on their significant other without batting an eye.
Don't get me wrong there are supernaturals out there that reject their fated mates.
You will not find many that cheat, however.
The mate bond makes it hard, if one mate cheats the other feels what is called betrayal pains. If the cheating continues, they could eventually kill their mate. And in mated pairs, when one mate dies the other soon follows. This helps to eliminate cheating throughout the supernatural community.
But there is nothing like that for humans. Humans could cheat on one another and their partners would never know it, unless they caught them. But there was no honor when it came to humans, they just wanted what would benefit them personally the most. Not caring about what others want or need.
