"That is one of the worst ideas that you have ever come up with, Bethany. And believed me you have had many." I gritted out at her.
She looked a little taken back, like she was offended. Well truth hurts I guess.
"Why are you so quick to shut it down? We would be able to get a lot of cash from this. Just imagine all those men on the short end of the waiting list that are impatient, and not to mention those that were blacklisted. I bet they would be willing to pay an absurd amount." Bethany pouted like a child.
Annoyed, I responded. "Well, there are several reasons."
I ticked off with my fingers like I was counting the reasons. "First, it is going to take a lot of time and effort to even get it established and up and running. Then all the time plus effort it would take to put this together, and keep clients coming. I can not afford to divide my attention away from work right now. Secondly, we will need to find clients, we can not just walk up to random men and invite them to become a client. This is essentially an illegal operation and if the wrong person got wind of it then we are all in trouble. Then we have to factor in the downtime between clients, because there is no way that Lea will be in the shape to be used every night. Another reason is that we don't have a facility to operate out of. Lastly, there is no way that we will be able to hide this from Darla."
I didn't miss the way that Bethany turned up her nose at the mention of Darla. She really has never been a fan of Darla, well if we are honest, she has never been a fan of anyone taking my attention away from her. It is no surprise that she does not care for my mate. However, she does understand the importance of Darla to me.
Sometimes, I feel like if I wouldn't survive without Darla, she would have succumbed to a horrible death already. Much like my first wife. Bethany is not much for sharing and she has always wanted all my attention.
"Ok, how about this? I have been putting in a lot of thought into getting this 'club' up and running. What if I take care of all of it? I will see this through from beginning to end, by myself, and ensure that I have procedures in place to help guard and protect us from any liability or trouble. I have been working on my fairy enchantments, and I have learned a few that I think I can use. As far as facility we can have a building built out in the far back yard and tell Darla it is for business meetings when you just can't make it into the office for."
When I didn't respond she took that as an opportunity to continue and that I wasn't completely against what she was saying so far.
"I can oversee the whole project from start to finish. You will not need to lift a finger. As far as the clients, I know exactly where to find them. Just let me handle everything and you worry about the company. I have a few personal days that I can take, to get everything sorted out, and before you know it, we will have our own little club. One which you did not have to put any effort into, but get to reap the benefits from."
That was the last we spoke about creating our own 'club' until Bethany came to me with a completely drawn out plan that was so full proof that I just couldn't pass up or turn it down.
* End Flashback *
Coming back to the present, I reached out my hand and shook Max's sweaty palm.
I was still a little reluctant up until Bethany walked me through the building early this morning and showed me all the features that came with her enchantment.
It not only puts a sound proof barrier on the building it also has a timed locking and release system. Then there was the added bonus that Bethany added. She created and put into place a fail safe, if the client steps too far over the boundaries or tries to take longer than their allowed time, then they will experience some form of consequence.
"Lynn, it's an honor doing business with you as always.'' Max stated.
"Max." I simply grunted back to his greeting.
"I have to admit, when Bethany came to me with a proposal, for a chance to visit your 'club'. I was a little hesitant to take her up on the offer. I thought it was a trap of some sort, although I don't have a clue as to why you would want to trap me for anything. Compared to you and your company, I am as good as a paper weight." Max laughed at his own joke.
Bethany took this moment to speak up, "Don't be silly. You are only the first on the list of potential clients that I have approached. There is nothing significant or special about you, or that poor excuse of a company that you run. If you did not express such an interest those few months back, you would not have been the first person I proposed this deal to. You are definitely not the only person. You just happened to be, shall we say, our first guinea pig to try it first."
Max looked a little taken back by Bethany's blunt honesty.
Most people do not expect her to speak that way, judging by the way she looks and holds herself.
Anyone that sees Bethany without truly knowing her, expects her to be this demure, seen but not heard pretty face of the company and family. No one honestly knows how cut-throat and brutal she really is.
. Bethany puts on the image of a prim and proper lady. She does not let anyone truly see her real self. Hell, if I wasn't the one that raised her, I doubt she would even allow me to see it.
