"Wait enchanted, like Fairies?" I blurted out.
That did not make any sense to me. How could this be possible? I know there are fairies and that fairies can do enchantments but humans are not able to do them. So how is Bethany able to set or check an enchantment like dad was suggesting.
Knowing that Bethany could not be setting or creating or checking, whatever it is she is doing, there must be some fairies around here somewhere.
I started looking around the backyard and the building. I do not know exactly what I was looking for but I guess I expected to see little flying fairies hanging around the building. I don't even know why. But, rationally, if there was an enchanted building, then there should be fairies. It made sense right, or at least it did in my head.
I haven't seen real fairies before, but I can only assume that they look just like humans, like most supernaturals do. And they do not look like they are depicted on TV.
Still, I was a little disappointed when I didn't find any.
By this time Bethany had finished her inspection and walked back over to us. She stood there and watched me for a few seconds before she started laughing out loud at my dispense.
"Wow, did you really think there are little fairies flying around? What were you expecting Tinker Bell and her little friends to be hanging out in our backyard. Your eyes lit up like a child on Christmas there for a second. Hahaha you are so lame! Fairies are like any other person, moron! They are not the little creatures that humans depict in cartoons."
"Then how do you know if someone is a fairy or not, if they look like everyone else?" I asked out of curiosity. It really did not make sense to me at all. Yes I have done my research and I know a little bit about fairies, but as far as I am aware I have never met a real fairy in real life. I have only learned and read about them.
And the little that I did learn never really said anything about what fairies truly looked like.
Bethany giggled, like this was the stupidest thing anyone could have asked. "You can sense them. Well, if you are supernatural you can sense other forms of supernatural beings. Humans can't though, so to a human everyone just appears the same."
I thought for a few seconds about her statement. "You keep saying 'human'. Why would you say human, as if you're not a human yourself?"
"Well, look who is finally catching on! By the look of your face I can tell that everything is starting to click in your little brain."
"Ding, Ding, Ding! We have a winner. I am not human!" She stated the word human with disgust.
"I am a fairy! Well, half fairy, and I am also half werewolf, from dads' side. But I don't have a wolf or any of the other traits of a true werewolf, I just have the bloodline." She pouted a little.
"Could you imagine what a beautiful wolf I would have made too!" She said aloud, but the way she said it made it sound like she was talking more to herself than anyone else.
"Wait, does that mean that I am half wolf and half fairy as well? I do not feel like I am or have any supernatural blood. Would I even be able to feel if I was supernatural?" I was mystified.
That would be so cool! Just imagine how different my life would be if I was actually a supernatural. I would be able to finally stand up to Bethany and dad.
But shouldn't I be able to tell if I was.
"OH, Goddess! No! You have to have supernatural parents to be supernatural!" Bethany laughed at my question, like it was the dumbest thing she has ever heard.
Dad growled, getting both of our attention. Clearly he was getting annoyed by all our conversations and distractions.
I almost forgot he was there.
"That's enough." Dad growled towards Bethany.
"And You! Bethany is part fairy from her birth mother's bloodline and part werewolf from my bloodline. You are neither! You are just a plain human! Your mother is just human. And you would have to have my blood to be part werewolf."
I could hear dad and Bethany talking but I wasn't really paying any attention to what they were saying anymore. It was more like I had the radio playing in the background. I could recognize the tune but the volume was so low I was not able to pick up on what part of the song was being sung at that point of the song.
No, whatever they were talking about was not as important as the thought that was currently going through my mind.
My brain was focused on one thing.
He said, 'You would have to have my blood', 'would'! The word 'would' suggests that I don't. Meaning that he does not have the same blood as me.
Wait, I do not have his blood. We do not have the same blood.
If we do not have the same blood, then he is not my real father. Because if he was my real father, at least half of my genetic makeup is from him. Which equates to me having his blood, or bloodline running through my body.
My brain does not want to process this quickly enough, the words and ideas are right in front of my face but it is like my mind just does not want to accept it.
Was dad saying what I think he was saying?
Did he just basically say that he is not my real father? No, that can not be true. Mom stated that she never cheated on my dad, so that means he has to be my father. There is no other way. Right!
I was stuck in my thoughts, with so many questions going through my mind. I didn't know what to think or how to even respond to that.
