Chapter 15 - Landed On My Bonnet.

Samuel took a sigh of relief. It would have been a disaster had he killed a person. He walked closer to where his boss stood. "Why is she here at this time?"

"She didn't tell me before getting unconscious."

"What must we do now?"

"Take her along, what else?" The man swiftly gathered her in his arms and got back into the car. There was no hesitation in his actions but Samuel stood still at his place.

"But why?" Was his boss out of his mind? Since when did they began collecting the almost dead people from the road?

The answer he received was the closing of door. Knowing there was no other option, Samuel sauntered to the driver's seat and started the car to go to their original destination.

Crescent was not out for long when she stirred and gradually opened her eyes. They locked into the ceilings, dark interior but an illuminating chandelier, she analysed almost instantly.

Crescent blinked and the memories returned. With the jolt, she got up and flinched when a sharp pain shot up her spine.

Tightly shutting her eyes once, she opened them again and looked around.

She was in an unknown place.

"Why did you even think that you would feel no pain if you were to get up like that considering the way you landed on my bonnet?"

Crescent let the gaze instantly move to the extreme right where on a couch, a man sat.

He was silently observing her. Her breath hitched.

He sat there, deeply looking at her with those dark grey eyes while resting his chin upon his palm.

She straightened her back and asked cautiously, "Who are you?" She was scared but didn't let it show on her face.

The man clicked his tongue against his cheek disapproved. "Nice question but very typical. You could have come up with something nice."

She did not let herself be swayed by his unserious response. "Where am I?"

"Obviously, on my bed." The man arched his lips. Crescent could not understand what his intentions were but she knew she had to get out from wherever she was.

She removed the blanket and put her feet down. It hurt to put the entire weight on them. "I gotta go."

"Oh darling, there is a twist."

She paused and stared at him, waiting for him to continue. "You came to me with your own will but you will go as per my wish."

Crescent laughed a little. "What part exactly did you misinterpret as my own will?"

"You landed on my bonnet."

Crescent clenched her fists as she forced out the words. "Accidentally landed on the bonnet of your car." She ensured that the last words especially were clear.

The man stood up. "Same thing."

Crescent closed her eyes in slight irritation. "You brought me here, extremely thankful for not leaving me to die there. However, I didn't ask for it."

The man tsked. "What a ungrateful world!"

Cresecent ignored him and went to the door. She tried rotating it but it didn't open. "Why isn't it opening?"

"Try a little harder, my lady. Doors are locked."

She turned. "And why is it so?" She just couldn't believe it!

How the hell in this world did someone have so much audacity to lock someone without their permission?

"Where is my bag? I will call someone." She looked around remembering her backpack was full of emergency equipments.

"This?" The man whistled as he casually held the bag between his fingers. "Is mine for now."

Crescent stared at him and then her eyes went to the landline placed in the room.

He followed her eyesight and was surprised. "Well that too-" and the next he showed was the chord hanging in his other hand.

"What do you want?" There was no way he was doing all of that just to tease her. He needed something.

"Brilliant question. You finally came to that."

"What do you want?" She stressed out each word once more.

"Just an answer and you are free to go."

Crescent sighed. "Ask away."

The man took steady steps towards her, his eyes not leaving hers even for a second, and his gaze deepened. He stopped just inches away from her.

His eyes fixed at the swirl of her hair which covered her left eye everytime she moved.

So irritating.

His fingers moved to touch it when Crescent took a back step and looked at him with a sharpness and warning.

"Alright, dear." He rose his hands in surrender and chuckled.

"Don't call me that." She cut him off.

"What were you doing in the cemetry?" Within a blink of an eye, his gaze turned serious. All the playfulness evaporated in the air.

Crescent did not react and without averting her eyes even for a second, she replied. "I got lost on my way."

"At that place?"

"Definitely I wouldn't have been lost if I knew what place I was at."

The silence deepened as both of them refused to break the eye contact first. One of them tried to look through the other, to know whether she was telling a lie or a truth while the other ensured a barrier, separating the truth from her eyes.

After a long while, the man grinned and took a step back.

"Fine you can go."

Just like that?

Crescent cautiously took a step away, doubting if he was really letting her go.

She extended her hand in hesitation.

"Oh handshake? I wouldn't mind." The man raised a brow as he was about to grab her hand.

Crescent instantly pulled her hand away and rolled her eyes. "My bag!"

The man stared at the strap of bag hanging on his shoulder. "Oh yeah, right. Here."

Almost snatching the bag from him, she checked if all of her belongings were in it or not.

"Easy, girl. I don't check the bag of ladies."

"Yes but do bring them to your house and lock them up." Crescent commented as she signalled at her door. "Open that."

The man leisurely took a small remote out of his pocked and tapped a button. A click resounded in the room. "Any other orders, my majesty?" He asked while his lips arched up.
