Cherreads

Chapter 7 - CHAPTER SEVEN

The door opened and the other board of directors were busy with their work on the laptop when he entered the room.

He dropped his coat on the chair and sat down as well and the meeting commenced.

"We have received reports of signals from the Archer found in Wyrdwood City. We don't know the exact area because the system has been designed to hide the identity of the person using it, but we can tell it is within the city." One of the directors reported.

"Then we need to send some of our own prototype out there to find the archer. If we don't act very fast now, our whole purpose might be crumbled and we don't want any of that happening."

"Mr. Lucian that is not all." The director reporting revealed. "There has been evidence of the unique genes at work for the past few days. The first one happened along a restaurant and the others happened across O block street. It is very clear at this point that we are going to have to call in some favors."

Lucian reclined back to his sit. It wasn't the entire reports that fascinates him. It was only a tiny part of it.

If one of the unique genes is in O block then it must be responsible for the death of the scorpion gang.

"Release the prototype and make sure they bring these unique genes alive. We don't want any of them dead." Lucian instructed before moving out of the board room.

He was still angry anytime he remembered that the Architect was let go because of a simple disagreement between the board of directors.

Since he was the new head of Umbrella corporation, he was certain that things were going to change starting from that very moment.

Robert arrived back home after a long day at work. The night was closing down and Kisha had returned from her office.

He opened the living room and find Kisha watching Netflix show all by herself. He walked over to her and try to plant a kiss on her cheeks but Kisha moved away.

"What is the matter." Robert asked, seating down next to her.

"I really need to know where our relationship is heading." She pointed out with a pout on her lips.

"What do you mean?"

"Don't act like you do not understand what I am talking about! Ever since you proposed to me, there has been this strange distance. I don't know if it is because of the weird thing that happened that night but we are no longer close like we used to be." She said with a soft spoken voice.

Robert grabs her hand and looked into her eyes, reading all the emotions that they held while staring at him.

"Listen, I understand that you are angry but I want you to know that things are really not good at the moment. I have been facing battles of my own."

"What battles Robert. Another thing I fail to point out is how you have been keeping several secrets away from me. This isn't how it used to be." Kisha said again.

Robert sighed.

He didn't want to tell her the entire story but knew that if he left anything out of the equation, she wasn't going to trust him.

"I have magic." He pronounced.

"That is a ridiculous thing to say. You don't have any magic, it doesn't even exist."

Robert narrates his entire ordeal but left out the future prophecy where she is going to die. He was too scared to let her know and believed deeply it would hurt her.

"I am speechless." Kisha said, after listening to the whole story. "So let me get this straight, you were shot and somehow you manipulated time and brought it back to the minutes before the incident?"

"Yes and I can show you." Robert said and pressed the surface of his wrist watch.

Everything rewind backwards to him just entering into the living room.

"What the hell!" Kisha screamed as Robert stood by the door. "It almost looked like a dejavu."

"That is the issue. This isn't a form of dejavu, it is actually a time manipulation and that is the gift that I was given."

"By who?"

Robert was going to give a reply, but the beep on the watch showing danger had him stop. He pressed the surface and several images popped up.

"Shit!" He cursed and got up to his feet.

Robert grabbed Kisha's hand.

"Where are we going?" Kisha asked, as they head towards the exit door.

"Some bad guys are here." He said as they made their way to the car.

As soon as they settled in the car, Robert picks up his phone and rings Anthony as he turned the ignition of the car on.

"I think the umbrella corporation are after me." He said the moment Anthony picked up.

"Meet me at Ninth avenue club house. I just got a lead on Mark's whereabout."

The news brought a spark of hope to Robert. He hung up the phone and placed his hand on the wheel.

"I don't know what is happening. I am so confused right now." Kisha said and pull out her phone.

"What are you doing!" Robert asked, snatching the phone away from her.

"I am trying to call the police." Kisha said.

"Those bad guys. They are going to trace the number so we have to be careful." Robert moved through the road, trying to take a path that was less dangerous.

He didn't want to involve Kisha in any of the situation happening right now, but he had no choice because her life was the reason this whole issue happened in the first place.

"Don't you think we should inform some one about this?"

"I have told you already Kisha. The more people we tell, the more it exposes us to danger. We have to stay cautious."

Robert made a turn down a tunnel and pressed the breaks the moment he saw bikes with masked men standing before him.

He pressed the gear and tried to reverse but realized there was two black vans behind him.

"Damn. We are trap." He said.
