Alan woke up early the next morning. He was excited about his class selection trial. The hybrid classes had the toughest selection trial compared to the super class.
He practiced using fireball skill to increase the fire element mastery.
'Once I pass the class trial the restriction on the number of skills I can learn will be released. Then I can try the other elements too.' Alan thought as he maintained the fireball in front of him and manipulated it in special patterns as his brother taught.
By the time for breakfast his fire element mastery had jumped to 10%. According to his brother this passive can provide a huge boost in the trial.
They departed to the monument after breakfast.
On their way Alan asked "um… that special recruitment thing. Can you also recommend my friend"
"You mean that kid Arun…?"
"Yeah he's planning to choose the supreme assassin class. He is also good in combat"
"Alright. Let's ask him when you meet for his opinion. If he's good okay with it I can take him in"
They chatted as they traveled to the monument. Soon they reached the place.
"Hey bro I forgot to ask what tier you are currently at?" Alan asked as they got out.
"Tier 3 around level 57" replied Harry
"You are that strong..! Then I will have to rely on you in the guild."
"Not really. If you want to get strong fast you can only rely on yourselves. I can only give you some pointers now and then."
Alan replied with a smile "yeah yeah I know hehe"
Harry sighed looking at Alan acting all childish. He was like that when he was around him so he couldn't do anything about it.
They entered the government facility near the monument. They had to register first before the trial. Alan handed over his awakeners ID and waited for his application to pass through.
He then saw Arun coming in to register. They greeted each other. Arun was excited when Alan asked to go to the guild with him. But he said he would give his answer after the class selection.
Soon he met his teammates from yesterday. They first registered and sat around with Alan and chatted as they waited for the arrangements to be done.
After half an hour they were taken to the monument. Apart from them there were other people present there. It seemed they were here for their tier transition.
Soon they got to position. Unlike awakening Ritual this is going to take a while. They didn't have to touch the monument, they just had to get into the specific range around the monument."
Alan browsed through the selection of classes and chose mystic archer. He sat down in a pose of meditation and pressed yes on the confirmation. Others did the same.
Alan's vision went dark as soon as he pressed yes. After a few seconds he found himself in another space. The trial included many tests. He breezed through the initial tests which involved basic magic and archery skills.
The magic test tested his magic control and efficiency when using a spell. Since he had a mage class skill fire ball, he was asked to hit some moving targets with it.
As for the archery test, it tested his aim, how well he hit the moving targets, and how well he handled the arrows and how much arrows could he recover from the target within a set of time.
These initial tests varied according to the skills possessed by the person taking it.
Then came the final test. This test was relatively common for everyone taking this class.
This is where it gets challenging. He was provided with a bow and unlimited amount of arrows. He was pitted against a chimera which was immune to physical damage.
It could only be damaged through magic attacks. But he is forbidden from using magic spells. He can only use the weapon provided here i.e, the bow and arrows to attack the chimera.
If you fail to do a set amount of damage or your hp runs out, the trial ends there and you will fail. He could only use the mana infused arrows to deal some damage while evading it.
Here the chimera will not take the damage from the impact of the arrows, but only from the mana infused from them. This is where his fire elemental mastery comes into play.
With it the damage dealt will be nearly tripled than just using ordinary mana.
According to the past records after interviewing those who attempted this trial, 90% failed because they ran out of hp. The rest were unable to deal enough damage because they spent most of the time evading it.
Alan thought to himself 'good thing I didn't slack off when brother taught me the advanced maneuver, otherwise things could have got hard'.
He took a good look at the chimera. The chimera summoned for the trial usually differed from person to person.
This chimera had an orc's torso, seven arms each belonging to different creatures, three heads which were of a boar, a goblin and a troll, one of its legs wes made up of stones, while other was thin and frail looking.
Alan had an urge to pike when he first saw that thing or whatever.
But a sudden notification woke him up.
[The final round of the trial will begin in 2 minutes]
After seeing this Alan did a quick stretch, and checked the provided bow. It was a standard tier 0 level 10 bow and as for the arrows it was made out of high mana conducting materials.
Arrows were kept in a special quiver which summoned a new arrow as soon as one was taken out.
"I wish I had this in real life" Alan sighed
He did some preliminary adjustments and got ready for the fight to start.
As the time remained in the timer were running out, he nocked an arrow and quickly channeled the fire elemental mana. He did this as he stood in the maneuvering stance as he would move as soon as he shot the arrow.
The chimera didn't have any weapons so his guess is it will rely either on magic attacks or any other shady long range attacks. Luckily the space for fighting was vast and there were plenty of obstacles like trees and spoilage.
This was his perfect environment.
As soon as the timer hit zero Alan took off. The chimera didn't have a hp bar instead it had a damage counter which indicated how much damage it took.
He needs to inflict a certain amount of damage within three hours in this trial.
According to those who passed the test when the damage it took goes past the passing mark the font will turn green. After that the difficulty will increase exponentially, and enter the bonus stage. In this stage the more you score the better.
The more time you survive after that the higher your passing grade and higher the reward you get. The reward was basically the class based attributes.
Back to the present, after the trial started big rocks covered in lava appeared in each of its hands. It started to furiously throw it towards Alan.
He was able to evade it thanks to his footwork and agility so he still had a chance to land a hit, and he even had some luck to land critical hits now and then.
Alan used the environment to his advantage to steer clear out of its attack and shoot his arrows in opportune moments.
It may sound easy but seven of its arms throwing glowing explosive rocks at the same time was not so easy to dodge. He was only hanging on thanks to his high proficiency in combat maneuvering technique.
He also lost some hp here and there sometimes mostly due to the debris flying after the explosion of lava rock hitting the ground and the obstacles around him and he had no choice other than to tackle it to avoid other major damage.
His hp only drained slowly but his mp was draining quickly as he shot one shot after another.
The speed at which the chimera is throwing the rocks is also increasing slowly. After 2 hours of such a circus the damage counter finally went green.
As soon as it went green the chimera stopped throwing. Alan sighed as the major test just ended.
The air around the chimera shifted suddenly, and a stopwatch appeared in his panel. As soon as the chimera started to move the stopwatch also started to count time.
The main test has ended, and now the special test begins….
