"Senior sister, may I say you jinxed it?"

Su Yuchen teased, "You've been hiding this ability? Is it the language of crows – Jinx Magic?"

Xia Yushuang glanced at him but didn't say anything. For the past few days, she had classes daily, spending most of her time at school. Today, spending more time with him, the misfortunes hadn't occurred as frequently. She thought she might actually be able to change his luck.

"No way…"

"What's wrong?"

"I'm so pretty. In this enclosed elevator, don't try anything fishy with your senior." Xia Yushuang said in a 'weak' tone. "I'll call the cops."

"Then take out your phone and call them, or else I might think you're implying something?"

"See, you're fantasizing again…" Xia Yushuang's tone abruptly faltered. "What are you trying to do?"

Su Yuchen suddenly came so close that she could clearly see herself reflected in his pitch-black eyes.

"J-Junior brother…" Sensing the tremor in her own voice, she paused and continued, "I'll really call the police."

"You're the one who's fantasizing," Su Yuchen cut in. "I just want to press the emergency button."

"Commendable. Looks like you still have a sense of abiding by rules," Xia Yushuang's tone intensified a bit, clearly unhappy. "A model citizen."

She expressed her frustration at his timidity and her fear of being too forward. "The elevator will automatically restore in a bit, so it doesn't matter if you press it or not."

"I'm just concerned about you missing your class." Su Yuchen said.

Xia Yushuang looked at him; he was quite caring, but just not in other aspects… really.

"Tsk!" again expressed her mood.

Pretending not to hear, when Su Yuchen's finger touched the emergency button, the elevator suddenly resumed operation.

"Do you think it might malfunction again?"

"Considering your misfortune, it might!"

"Could you stop jinxing it?"

"What are the common reasons for elevator malfunctions?" she asked.

"This enters my realm of ignorance," Su Yuchen stared at the descending floors without blinking.

They smoothly arrived at the ground floor.

"Perhaps you should reverse the jinx," Su Yuchen smugly glanced at her and stepped out of the elevator.

Methods for legally damaging public property?

Xia Yushuang glanced at the floor display of the elevator. Can't it malfunction a few more times to give us a bit more time together?

"You take the bus, and I'll walk. How about that?" Su Yuchen proposed to her, trying to avoid potentially involving a whole bus full of people in an unpleasant situation. "I won't secretly go home."

"Let's take the route via the North Ring Bridge. It's closer."

His suggestion was directly ignored, and Su Yuchen didn't continue speaking… why was he in a rush when the one who had classes wasn't?

The rising sun cast a faint halo over the city, the morning breeze of September carried a hint of the sea, a bit chilly.

Skyscrapers, suspended light rails, floating cars… The vivid splendor, the dreamlike prosperity.

Beast-faced humanoids, human-faced creatures… these unique appearances were not considered strange in this world.

"At what age did you start believing in the existence of 'Santa Claus' in the world?"

Su Yuchen looked at the law enforcer wearing a uniform with a beast face and human body and suddenly asked.

Without waiting for Xia Yushuang's reply, he continued, "If you ask me, I never believed from the start."

In his thirty years of life, topics like 'Santa Claus', 'fairies', 'Ultraman', 'wizards' were mostly occasional musings during idle moments or a phase of adolescent imagination.

When he was in kindergarten, for a long time, he believed he could do magic because every time he fell asleep outside, he'd wake up to find himself comfortably lying in bed.

Pretty impressive, right?

It wasn't until third grade of elementary school that he realized the magic he could do was called 'Mom,' and the mysterious presence who prepared gifts for him on his birthday was the same person.

Fairies, Santa Claus, Ultraman, superheroes, aliens, monsters, ghosts… none of these existed in reality, at least in his former understanding. These were imagined beings, fulfilling the fantasies of children.

Although they only existed in fiction, who hadn't fantasized about their existence?

Time travel, reincarnation, superpowers, magic, demons…

Things once confined to fantasies suddenly appeared around him.

The unknown mystery that cognition couldn't reach; the 'legend' that existed only in fairy tales.

While marveling at the wonder of this world, he also realized that reality was harsher than fairy tales.

Wonderful fairy tales couldn't exist in reality; reality was governed by harsher rules.

But that was okay; he quickly adapted to this world – the ordinary in an extraordinary world.

Just like this city.

Constructed from the most advanced technologies, magic, feng shui, natural forces, and materials mastered by humanity.

A magnificent city suspended below the sky and floating above the sea.

A special district city not under any country's jurisdiction.

This extraordinary city was composed of everyday routines.

This city, labeled as 'open, inclusive, and free,' stood in the center of the North Ocean of the Eastern Continent, showcasing the extraordinary achievements of ordinary humans to the world.

The Sky City.

"So when did you believe in it?"

Su Yuchen stopped, his gaze sweeping over Xia Yushuang walking beside him. He looked at the scrolling window of the bus stop displaying the city's topography, famous landmarks, and local customs. Softly, he said, "When I saw my mom shining in front of me."

That moment at the age of three remained vivid in his memory, as it was the moment he 'opened his eyes' to the world.

"No, that's not it."

"What's not it?" Su Yuchen looked at Xia Yushuang curiously.

She looked at him. "It was me who made you see it."

???

What on earth? How many times today had she said such strange and unrelated things?

Su Yuchen looked at her incredulously. "We only met when we were five years old, what are you talking about?"

He really forgot… Why did he forget those things but not me?

Xia Yushuang caught up to his pace, and Su Yuchen observed the city during the back-to-school season; it was bustling with people.

The refreshing autumn wind blew against them.

Clatter, clatter…

The advertisement board hanging on the lamppost, assaulted by the autumn wind, emitted a protesting 'wail.' Finally succumbing, it detached from its original position, looking like a wilted flower, and drifted as if seeking its demise, heading straight for Su Yuchen's head.

While thinking about how many billboards had come crashing toward him since arriving in the city, Su Yuchen prepared to dodge it—

Thud!

A light quiver of plump and firm thigh flesh soared into view, kicking the billboard onto the wall to Su Yuchen's left.

Sky blue… adorned with a small bow.

A sight only visible to him.

The school skirt's design unexpectedly wasn't the usual shorts under the skirt; it was more like pants inside and the skirt outside. And what's more surprising, a skirt that didn't even reach the knees, and yet, no safety shorts?

This is too unsafe!

But… thanks for the hospitality.

The skirt swayed, readjusting itself on Xia Yushuang's thigh. She seemed unaware of the brief exposure in front of Su Yuchen. "Did it hurt you?"

"Bit of a mental shock." Su Yuchen coughed lightly, the scenery was just too beautiful.

"After all these years, shouldn't you be used to it? Still getting startled?" Xia Yushuang lightly patted her school skirt.

Looks like she didn't realize she'd exposed herself in front of me.

"Because you helped me, that's why I got startled. Usually, I dealt with it myself."

"I see… Then you should properly thank me."

"Thank you, oh great senior sister!"

Xia Yushuang glanced at him. "Rather than verbal thanks, how about something practical?"

She looked ahead at an ice cream shop. "Can you seize the opportunity to thank me?"

"Absolutely!" Su Yuchen promptly responded; she had helped him a lot in avoiding various disasters, so thanking her was only right.

"What would you like? I'll go buy it."

Just as Su Yuchen started to walk, Xia Yushuang stopped him again. "Wait, just transfer the money to me. I'll go on my own."

"Don't get me wrong… I'm just worried you might fall… Of course, falling isn't important, but what if you drop the ice cream you bought? That's wasting money, right?"

It made too much sense to argue against, so Su Yuchen transferred the money to her.

Xia Yushuang headed toward the ice cream shop, receiving the transfer on her phone from her skirt pocket, then withdrawing the money into her bank account, her steps becoming more cheerful.

The beautiful senior sister's back view was pleasing to the eye.

Su Yuchen picked up his pace, strolling slowly towards the ice cream shop.
