The enrollment orientation at Sky University ended yesterday on Sunday, and on Monday, senior students either returned from outside or emerged from dorms, heading toward their respective class locations.
Everyone was dressed uniformly in deep blue shirts, layered with navy blue school outerwear. Guys wore long pants while girls wore checked skirts. They looked good, but there was a somewhat serious atmosphere about them.
Yet, the exuberance of youth among university students did much to counteract this seriousness.
"Although the uniform looks good, why does the university even enforce it…"
Su Yuchen sighed inwardly. Because of the uniform, the only times they'd see the girls dress attractively were on weekends or holidays. Additionally, the constant need to keep the uniform clean and washed made him personally oppose the idea.
If he were to become the student council president, he'd definitely cut down on the uniform expenses.
"Yushuang, what a coincidence! Did you just arrive?"
Hearing a familiar name, Su Yuchen glanced forward and, the next moment, showed a surprised expression.
She actually smiled.
He previously doubted whether her sharp tongue would make her any friends in university. Now, it seemed she displayed two different personalities: one in university and another in front of him.
Which one was the real her?
"Why did you suddenly decide not to live in the dorm this year? We're missing you there," the girl speaking to Xia Yushuang affectionately hooked her arm.
"Personal reasons."
"Okay." The girl didn't dwell further. "By the way, did you notice? The quality of this year's freshmen is really good. I looked around, and there are quite a few handsome guys."
"We have a tall, cold, handsome guy behind us. His 'stay away from me' vibe is quite something. Wonder which department he's from. You think I could get his contact details?"
"Nope," Xia Yushuang glanced warily at her roommate who hadn't moved out of the dorm yet. No one should harbor such thoughts about him!
"Why?"
"His type isn't easy to approach. Plus, what if he doesn't like women?" Xia Yushuang replied casually.
???
Did you think you were speaking quietly?
Did you think I couldn't hear?
Su Yuchen looked at Xia Yushuang speechlessly. My sexual orientation is quite straightforward, okay?
"Why would you say that?"
Xia Yushuang's voice was calm. "We have plenty of beautiful girls in our school. For a normal guy, especially a freshman, no matter how composed they are, it's impossible not to have any interest. But someone like him clearly isn't interested in girls."
'Who would believe your serious nonsense?'
Just as Su Yuchen finished internally scoffing, the girl beside Xia Yushuang suddenly realized, "I see! Not into girls, huh? That's a shame. I'm not interested anymore."
"Yeah, no need to show interest in him."
This girl was really clueless.
Su Yuchen slowed his pace, decisively avoiding walking alongside Xia Yushuang. When it came to discussing himself, she was as sharp-tongued as ever.
"The aloof handsome guy left. Hope he didn't hear that?"
"No rebuttal means guilt, I was right."
"Yushuang, your judgment is impressive."
Su Yuchen pretended not to hear and lowered his head to look at his phone, studying the map of Sky University. The class meeting was in the evening, and his current task was to have a 'chance encounter' with senior sister Tia at the graduate school.
"Over in this direction."
Putting down his phone, Su Yuchen looked up, and Xia Yushuang's figure was nowhere in sight. He was about to step forward—
"Hey, you in front, get out of the way!"
The roar of a powerful engine accompanied by sharp braking resounded. A silver-white, sleek motorbike came speeding from behind Su Yuchen. Its rear wheel lifted off the ground, clearly using the front brake.
From the moment he heard the noise, Su Yuchen jumped aside, but—
The motorbike followed.
???
Aren't you supposed to brake? Why twist the handle?
The rider didn't think Su Yuchen would jump aside, and now seeing that collision couoldn't be avoided, they simply used magic manipulation to swing the moorbike sideways. Su Yuchen clearly saw a screw flying off the bike toward his forehead.
Was this supposedly expensive bike this fragile?
Su Yuchen raised his hand and caught the screw that flew at him with a "whoosh." The bike, sliding sideways, emitted sparks as it grazed the ground, stopping just inches away from him.
"That was close, too close… Just got it serviced, how did the brakes fail…"
"Hey, are you okay?"
A tall figure, maybe a beauty, her face concealed by a silver-white helmet—her eyes unseen, only a head of wine-red streaked hair visible outside the helmet.
An athletic navy-blue tracksuit outlined her figure. Her left leg tapered into the tight athletic pants, revealing a slender, fair ankle.
Though unable to see her face, her outfit couldn't hide her tall, slender figure, making one think, "It doesn't matter even if her face is average."
"I'm fine," Su Yuchen maintained a blank expression, then extended his hand.
"Good that you're okay… Huh? What's wrong?"
"Jiang Shengyue! How many times have I told you, don't ride your bike when there are many people around in the morning!"
"Oh no!"
Vroom, vroom!
"Don't run!"
"I'm wearing a helmet! And I wasn't speeding!"
The engine roared as she disappeared.
"Jiang Shengyue!!!"
Su Yuchen looked at the screw lying silently in his palm. With one screw less, would the bike be at a higher risk of an accident?
"Excuse me, I'm really sorry." A senior sister, wearing a uniform and a red armband, jogged over, looking apologetic. "She didn't hit you, did she?"
Sky University's regulations were its law, and upholding the rules' dignity and authority was the Disciplinary Committee.
Not under the Student Union's jurisdiction, the Disciplinary Committee supervised students' conduct and discipline under the faculty's leadership.
"No," Su Yuchen pocketed his hand. "I'm leaving."
"Well, I hope this incident doesn't make you doubt the school's discipline. Most people here are actually quite kind."
Su Yuchen nodded and walked toward the depths of the campus, pondering what standards of 'kindness' this premier university for cultivating powerful human forces might have.
Classroom 702 in Hude Building.
Seated by the window, Xia Yushuang propped her chin, gazing outside. Her position in the classroom offered a clear view of the rows of new students reporting in.
However, she only saw Su Yuchen, watching him …almost get hit by a motorbike.
"Jiang Shengyue."
Everyone knew her. She was the only female student who rode a motorbike to and from school—a daredevil heiress who dared to speed even on campus.
But due to never exceeding the speed limit set by the school regulations and her excellent riding skills without any mishaps, the Disciplinary Committee couldn't do anything about her.
Not only was she this way at school, but it was said she was the same outside. In the motorbike racing event around the Sea Cliff of the Sky City, she had never lost. Some who dared to compete against her ended up as fish food in the sea, while others remained paralyzed in their hospital beds to this day.
Because she always concealed herself in a red cloak formed by magical power during races, she gained the alias of 'Crimson Knight'…
These unconfirmed reports didn't matter to Xia Yushuang, what mattered was that she was very beautiful.
'Why not have bad luck when it comes to a beautiful seniors? Geez.'
"It's so cold…"
The girl next to her shivered, but in a few seconds, felt warm again.
"Xia Yushuang, can you answer this question?"
Xia Yushuang withdrew her gaze, stood up to answer the question. Thankfully, the Disciplinary Committee had arrived in time, preventing Su Yuchen from having too much interaction with Jiang Shengyue.
After answering the question and sitting back down, she took out her phone and opened the messaging app.
[Yushuang]: Going back for lunch?
After waiting for a while, she received a response.
[My sister is the best]: Yes, back for lunch at school. I'm currently roaming around campus.
After the prompt reply, Xia Yushuang put away her phone. She didn't need to ask; she knew he definitely wouldn't have lunch with her. Knowing he would eat at school, pretending to have a chance encounter would be enough.
That way, he wouldn't have much to say about it.
