Breakfast was plentiful, and the mealtime was long.

Not because there was too much food prepared, but due to Su Yuchen being plagued by 'misfortune.' Even swallowing food could choke him more often than the average person.

Therefore, his eating speed was slow, slower than the usual meticulous chewing.

Having finished breakfast, Xia Yushuang stared at Su Yuchen. Her gaze carried a hint of concern."Being able to survive until now, you've had it tough."

"Not at all." Su Yuchen swallowed the last bite of his fried egg, smiling. "I don't know about others' thoughts or have any say in them. But for me, being alive is a great blessing. So, regardless of hardship, I'll strive to live."

Xia Yushuang gazed at him. From childhood to now, despite Su Yuchen often experiencing 'misfortune,' whether it was ten years ago or their present reunion, she never felt any pessimism from him.

In her heart, Su Yuchen was truly remarkable.

Her lips formed a slight smile, quickly restrained.

"Did you just smile?"

"Your eyes must be playing tricks on you!"

"Smiling looks good on you," Su Yuchen shrugged.

By the way, being so aloof, did she have any friends at school?

"You don't have to wait for me," Su Yuchen sipped some milk. "I'll go to school around the time of the class meeting."

Pausing, he added, "I'll do the dishes later."

"My second class is at 9:30, it's only seven now," Xia Yushuang said calmly. "And if I let you do the dishes, breaking a few plates would be minor; turning the sink red with blood would be terrifying, unfortunate junior brother. So, to prevent a tragic scenario of excessive bleeding, I'll handle the chores."

"Don't act like without you, I can't survive. I've managed all these years without any issues."

"You've misunderstood," Xia Yushuang looked at him. "I'm just trying to prevent this house from becoming haunted due to a dead person, causing everyone in the building to move out, turning the entire neighborhood deserted."

"How can it be that exaggerated!"

"With you, I don't think it's exaggerated, especially since your sister entrusted me to take care of you."

Su Yuchen rolled his eyes. Deadpan and sarcastic, yet she seems to care about me…

Never mind, it's better to pretend not to understand.

With his inherent misfortune, and without solving this issue, he wasn't ready for deep emotional connections with others.

Originally his own misfortune, it may lead to her getting involved in it. If he could barely live with it himself, why create trouble for others?

He thought of Senior Tia. If he could find a way to escape this perpetual 'misfortune'…

Watching Su Yuchen quietly eating breakfast, Xia Yushuang tilted her head. "Are you angry? I'm sorry."

"How could I be angry chatting with a beautiful senior? And now you're even apologizing?"

Seeing he wasn't upset, Xia Yushuang relaxed, leaning back in her chair. "I'm just demonstrating my manners. I'm a polite senior sister."

"Wow, that's amazing, let's praise you," Su Yuchen applauded.

Xia Yushuang squinted at him. Leaning gracefully in the chair, she seemed to be digesting the playful mood she saw in him.

She witnessed another side of him.

Without further words, Su Yuchen leisurely finished breakfast.

The moment he put down his chopsticks, Xia Yushuang got up and went to tidy up the tableware.

Su Yuchen leaned back, retracting his hand. It had been ten years, and his childhood friend had developed quite a stunning figure. He had to retract his hand; otherwise, it would definitely touch her more prominent peaks when she bent down.

The dark navy color should have made it less conspicuous… but it's a sign that it's really remarkable.

The icy blue tips of her hair brushed against his nose, emitting a scent somewhat like lotus flowers but lighter.

As Xia Yushuang went to the sink after finishing, Su Yuchen withdrew his gaze and stood up, saying, "I'll go freshen up."

"Okay, be careful…"

Bang!

Thud!

As he rose, his heel banged directly against the chair leg, making a loud noise.

"Ouch…"

Watching Su Yuchen lift one leg to inspect the injury, Xia Yushuang's eyes flickered, a smirk briefly crossing her lips before vanishing. "I told you to be careful. Didn't listen to your senior's advice, and now you've suffered, right?"

"I was already very careful," Su Yuchen breathed a sigh of relief, realizing there was no broken skin. "It just doesn't make sense."

He propped up the chair and was about to head to the bathroom when Xia Yushuang spoke up, "Wait for me to finish washing, then I'll go with you."

"Hmm?"

"That way, I won't have to clean up your bloodstains."

"No need." Su Yuchen waved his hand. "I'll be fine for a short while, and even if something happens, I can handle it. Saying that makes me seem useless."

As Su Yuchen walked into the bathroom, Xia Yushuang whispered softly, "Relying on someone doesn't mean you're useless. How many people don't even have someone to rely on…"

"Let alone relying on me."

She turned around, hurriedly starting to clean the tableware.

In the bathroom, Su Yuchen picked up the toothpaste to brush his teeth. It was the lotus-scented one Xia Yushuang bought, similar to the fragrance she had.

After brushing his teeth, he began cleaning his face using the face wash she bought, also carrying a hint of lotus scent.

"How much do you really like lotus flowers?" Su Yuchen mumbled while tidying up.

After cleaning the tableware, Xia Yushuang glanced towards the direction of the bathroom. With no significant noise coming from there, she sat on the sofa and absentmindedly started arranging the books and snacks on the coffee table.

"Admission letter… it's no longer useful, ID card, student card…"

"Hmm?"

Xia Yushuang paused. He just enrolled, so where did the student card come from?

Wait, it's not a student card; it's a graduate card.

Where did it come from?

Furrowing her brows slightly, she opened the graduate card. In the ID photo, there was a blonde, beautiful girl with golden eyes.

"Tia Yufei, a girl…"

Xia Yushuang recognized this name, a very famous senior three years older than her, who served as the vice president of the student union during her undergraduate years.

The problem was, with the school being more than ten kilometers away, why did Su Yuchen have her graduate card? When did he get it?

Did he find it? Or was it given by the senior sister?

Yesterday, during registration, did he have any interaction with her at school?

Xia Yushuang pursed her lips. Whether he found it or had any interaction wasn't the most important thing; what mattered most was…

Another woman's belongings were in this house.

Closing the graduate card and putting it back where it was, Xia Yushuang continued organizing the coffee table until Su Yuchen walked out of the bathroom. She turned to look at him.

"Unlucky junior brother, have you had any encounters with luck lately?"
