Noah felt worried when he saw Alan's reaction.
'Will he reject it? And choose the safe way to file for bankruptcy? Shut down the company?' He wondered while silently waiting, trying to think positively.
"Yes, something confused me in this agreement, Noah..."
Alan lifted his head to meet Noah's gaze. The line on his forehead appeared even more apparent.
"Feeling confused? Just ask me the details of my plan, Uncle, and I'll do my best to explain it to you as briefly and clearly as possible."
"Why appoint me as CEO to manage the company? This agreement also indicates that management remains unchanged, meaning the same individuals continue to serve and oversee the company."
Alan paused for a moment, taking a deep breath before continuing.
"One final thing that confuses me is why you're offering me ten percent of the stocks. You've told me your open price to purchase this company for five million, which is already a premium offer and significant for me, Noah."
"You don't have to top that up by giving me a ten percent share; I promise I'll assist in managing this company for you just as a professional with an annual salary. What you do has resolved all my headaches and problems in the last two decades."
Alan sighed deeply before continuing, "I don't think a million thanks from me would be enough to show my gratitude, Noah."
...
A subtle smile forms on Noah's lips as he hears Alan's confusion.
This man is incredibly kind. While others would happily accept a ten percent share without any investment, Alan is different and questions it instead.
"Uncle Alan, as I mentioned earlier, I'm here to gain valuable experience from the ground up. I won't stay at this company since I will return to the capital soon. That's why I need you to keep leading the company as you have been..."
Alan gasped in surprise, feeling a wave of emotions rush over him at Noah's words. Yet, the confusion about the company stock lingered, leaving him slightly puzzled and curious.
"Regarding the ten percent shares... I think you noted in the agreement that selling the stock isn't allowed, and you will only receive annual dividends..."
Noah paused, waiting for his response. Once Noah saw Alan's confirming nod, he spoke again.
"That's my gratitude for you, Uncle Alan. You helped me learn in your company despite my complete lack of knowledge when I started here. And, I'm giving you ten percent so you can work hard for the company and earn money for me."
Noah feels a warmth in his heart as he recalls how this old man welcomed him with open arms the first time they met when he came seeking a job.
Alan Caldwell's eyes lit up in happiness upon hearing his explanation. He was genuinely impressed by this young man.
With everything clarified, Alan quickly picked up his fountain pen and signed the agreement without hesitation.
He also allowed Noah to sign the paper before they shared a warm handshake to seal the deal.
"Thank you, Noah! You've been a lifesaver for me, my family, and everyone working here. I'm grateful and deeply appreciate everything you've done for us."
Noah saw the tears in Alan's eyes; he could only smile in silence. He didn't know how to react, as he felt overwhelmed by this new experience: helping good people like Alan Caldwell.
After a brief moment of silence, Noah finally spoke up.
"Uncle, please tell me your bank account information. I will transfer the funds to you," he said.
Alan frowned, confused.
"Y-You are going to transfer now? Is that possible? Five million isn't small; you must visit your bank to request a wire transfer instead. Right?"
Noah rubbed his neck. A warm chuckle escaped his lips after hearing Alan Caldwell's words.
If this happens before he meets Edgar, he cannot do that because his bank account has limited transfers.
But now, with the special cell phone, all his bank accounts are directed to his new account at Golden Phoenix Bank's Swiss office.
His account allows unlimited transfers and withdrawals.
Five million? That's like five hundred for his old self.
After transferring the amount to Alan, he waited a few more minutes to let Alan cope with his shock at seeing his bank account, which displayed a balance of five million.
"Waah, Noah... You... You indeed could do an eBanking transfer for this much money?"
Alan looked at Noah again, his gasp still there, shocked.
Noah merely smiled and didn't respond.
Instead, he asked Alan not to reveal his identity and keep his company ownership confidential. He wanted to keep his identity a secret for as long as possible.
"Especially not to your daughter, Emma... Please keep it from her, Uncle." Noah concluded with a smile.
Alan Caldwell was surprised, but he eventually nodded, agreeing with him.
"I will keep this for myself, Noah. Rest assured!"
"Thank you, Uncle. Today, a representative from Golden Phoenix Group may meet with you to handle everything with the legal paperwork and guide you in management. This way, the company can quickly take off and become the second leading firm in the construction industry in Opal City!"
Noah stands to exchange a warm handshake with Alan once more before excusing himself.
At this moment, he feels in high spirits because he has this confidence—the kind he never possessed before.
Before Noah left the room, Alan Caldwell stopped him and followed him toward the doorway.
"Noah, please wait. You said we will be number two? Why not number one?" he was confused. With his power, money, and the Golden Phoenix Group behind him, becoming number one will be easy.
"Ah, because Golden Phoenix has their own construction company in this nation, and as far as I remember, they have led the industry for ten years in a row," Noah grinned before he left.
He would change the company's name if he wanted to help Caldwell Construction become number one. However, he did not plan to change it; he simply wanted to keep it as a symbol of the first company he purchased.
Noah had never felt so light on his feet. He approached the elevator, a smile still on his cheerful face.
However, upon entering, a buzzing notification echoed in his ears.
'System!...'
Hurriedly he summoned his system.
[Revenge Ledger Updated.]
[Target: William Wood]
[Status: Success]
[Congratulations, you unlocked (Lie Detection Skill, Level 1)]
'What is this ability?' he wondered while checking the information.
How shocked Noah was to read the information about the Ability.
[You can tell when someone is lying by observing their face. ]
[Warning: The more skilled the person is, the harder it becomes to detect them.]
'This is so fucking cool!'
He smiled broadly, realizing this system truly grants him real and functioning abilities.
In the future, he will no longer need to rely on his system.
Noah was about to leave the elevator when another notification from his system startled him.
