Chapter 9 - A Doubt In His Eyes

Alan Caldwell was surprised when Noah requested permission to talk privately.

Seeing Noah's seriousness, Alan asks him to settle on the sofa before joining him.

"Noah, I sincerely apologize, as I can't fulfill my promise to keep you working here." Alan's tone was somber; however, his gloomy expression gradually changed to a smile. A sad smile nonetheless.

Alan Caldwell continued his words with a reassuring smile. "But, young man, no need to worry; I will continue to pay your salary in full till the end of the year. That's my promise to you…"

Noah smiled calmly, hearing Alan's words.

"Sir, I won't be worried about it. I met you to discuss something that wasn't about my salary. Absolutely had nothing to do with it!"

Alan frowned, his confusion obviously reflected in his eyes.

"Oh, really? Then, I'm sorry for assuming like that. Okay, what do you want to talk about?" Alan asked curiously.

"I want to help this company avoid bankruptcy. I plan to buy it!" Noah stated his plan clearly.

Noah had already assessed the company's financial challenges and its valuation. After thorough consideration, he chose to acquire the company rather than simply invest as a shareholder.

From his wealth management system, he knew that this company had the potential to grow.

If he had bought this company, he wouldn't have worked here but would have kept Alan Caldwell to manage it. Only the Owner would change, not the management.

Instantly, Alan's face stiffened upon hearing Noah's shocking words. But soon, his expression shifted to amusement as he started to laugh.

It was hard to believe that this young man, Noah, approached him and tried to lighten the mood with his abrupt joke.

How could he buy this company?

Although this company was about to file for bankruptcy, its total assets were valued in the millions.

"Young man, young man... Thank you for humoring me... I really appreciated it," Alan said between laughs.

He didn't feel angry at Noah's words; instead, he sensed his mood slightly improving. During this challenging period, Noah was brilliant at thinking of ways to entertain himself. No wonder his daughter liked him.

"You are so funny, Noah..." Alan said with a chuckle as his laughter eased. "Thank you. But you can head out now. We can definitely continue our chat later. I still have quite a bit to take care of, including making a few calls..."

Alan's voice suddenly faded as he discovered something, whereas Noah appeared composed. He showed no expression.

"Noah, are you serious about your offer?" Alan felt a tremor in his voice upon hearing his own words.

"Yes!" Noah answered calmly.

Alan was utterly shocked.

'Who was this young man again? Noah Morgan...' Alan pondered, attempting to recall the application he submitted when joining this company, yet nothing came to mind.

Noah turned his attention back to Alan after dismissing his System.

"Sir, I've already instructed my team to assess your company. I'll email you if you're open to reviewing my proposal to acquire it."

"So, is it true? You want to acquire this company?" Alan repeated. He wasn't as shocked as earlier and attempted to maintain his composure, though it felt challenging.

"I understand that you may have doubts about me, and I can appreciate that..." Noah paused to see Alan's expression.

Noah added, "However, I want to be honest...I only work here because my father wanted me to start from the bottom, the ground, and then go up—learning how to manage the company from the bottom to the top. He basically wants me to gain as much experience as possible."

Even though he felt terrible about it, Noah had to lie to Alan. There's no way he'll reveal now that he inherited Anderson Morgan's wealth.

Seeing Alan's shocked expression, Noah continued, "Sir, you can see my proposal first. And you will understand what I offer you..."

Alan nodded in agreement with Noah but remained silent. Although it seemed abrupt, this young man claimed he was rich and had learned in this company, yet he refused to believe it immediately. He needed to read his proposal.

As Alan Caldwell waited for Noah's call, a glimmer of hope began to take root in his heart and mind.

'God! If this is true, if this young man was not kidding, I promise I will never mess up my life again...' he prayed, gazing at Noah.

Noah pulled out his black cell phone, which featured a gold phoenix emblem on the back.

He immediately asked Edgar to process the previous message he had sent him before meeting Alan Caldwell.

After a few minutes...

Noah finally ended the call and turned his attention back to Alan. He felt amused watching Alan gasp at him as if he had just met his ancestor.

"Sir, you will receive the email shortly! You can print two copies, and we can sign them once you agree..." Noah explained that his lawyer would come to this office to finalize the necessary documents once they agreed.

Before long, Alan returned with two sets of agreements in his hand. Noah let him read first.

...

Alan's hands trembled after reading the agreement offered by Noah several times.

He lifted his gaze from the paper to the calm Noah across from him, choosing not to immediately discuss the offer he had made. But he asked, "Noah, are you related to the Golden Phoenix Group?"

"Yes, sir..."

"Uncle Alan! Please call me Uncle Alan, Noah." Alan smiled at Noah's nod.

He was shocked to learn that Noah was part of such a large capital firm.

How could he have ended up in his small company?

"About the price you offer, five million, I am surprised your price is the same as the figure in my head. You are spot on, Noah..." He knew that Noah needed a significant amount of money to settle the company's debt with the bank and to manage the company effectively.

Noah nodded and smiled. Thanks to his system, he knew exactly what price to offer. It provided accurate data about this company, including information about the Owner's psychological aspect.

Even though he spent a lot of money, the return on investment would be realized in just two years. Edgar had already informed him that Golden Phoenix would assist the company in growing even faster.

However, after waiting a few more minutes, Alan didn't sign the paper; he merely stared at him.

"Is anything bothering you, Uncle Alan?" Noah asked as he noticed him still deep in thought.
