Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: How to Get Stronger

Jason had no better idea what to do other than what Enzo had offered him, but he wasn't sure how he would gain strength by being locked up in the village for a few days.

"Until now, I only became stronger by fighting the creatures I encountered in the forest, the stronger the creature the more experience I gained, I don't know if I can become stronger by staying in the village for a few days"

"Jason, I know you're in a hurry, but you're very young, a few days won't change anything in your development, believe me. I'm not an expert in magic, especially one as rare as yours, but even here, being safe behind the fence, you can train successfully, my younger son Firlo will certainly help you, it won't hurt him to spar with someone new, as he hasn't had the opportunity to fight someone with magical skills yet"

"I'd love to spar with Firlo, I just don't know if my pets won't hurt him, the wasps are quite venomous."

"Don't be afraid, Firlo is very strong and resistant for his age, we often meet venomous creatures in the forest, that's why as a people we have developed some immunity to toxins, they still work on us, but at your level they should not cause him long-term harm. I think that by fighting Firlo, he can also surprise you with something." – Enzo smiled under his breath.

"As soon as we confirm that it's safe outside the village, I'll give you a few missions in the area. Before you set off on your journey, you will have at least a few months of hard work, otherwise I will not let you go anywhere further. I do not want to have you on my conscience."

"Mr. Enzo, if I may ask, what are these missions and how will they help me become stronger?"

"Unfortunately, none of us have the knowledge of how to train your abilities, but the tasks can help you discover things on your own. A village like ours must be relatively self-sufficient due to the distance from other villages and large cities. Most of the things we need are obtained from this forest. Our primary source of food are the local animals, we dress in their skins and furs, we also collect forest plants that have various uses – hunting and gathering are the basic tasks that I can assign as the head of the village, to each of the inhabitants, the inhabitants can also report to the elders the need for certain things, which then translates into missions that we give to the warriors. We use some of the things ourselves, and twice a year a group of our people go to Sirdawen to sell some of the things we make – this is how we get money. We also buy things that we are not able to obtain in the forest.

The next, more difficult way is are the Dungeons," Enzo finished, clearly with no intention of continuing.

"Dungeons?" – Jason asked with undisguised curiosity.

"Yes, I forgot that you are not from this world and not everything that is obvious to me is so for you.

The Dungeons are places that appear randomly all over the world, everyone says that they are created by our gods to reward those who are worthy of completing them and to punish those who are not ready. If we discover such places, we only allow inside the people to enter who can prove that they are ready to do so."

"If I may ask how you know if someone is ready?" – Jason asked.

"The area around our village in the forest is relatively safe, there are only creatures of the lowest rank here, you are lucky to have woken up right here, fortunately there are places that are more challenging for our warriors and trackers. To have permission from the elders to enter the underworld, you must obtain a trophy from one beast of common rank with your own hands."

"Of common rank?"

"Really, you still have a lot to learn, we'll finish it another time, I have to take care of things related to the protection of the village – especially in the light of the information I learned from you" – said Enzo, already a little weary, you can see that such conversations and explaining various things to others is something he had no patience for. – "Firlo will answer the rest of your questions, he doesn't mind talking non-stop. Find him, as far as I know him, he's probably eavesdropping somewhere near the door, that's why he left without any protest. In the meantime, I will take care of the affairs of the village. See you soon" – the Village Chief said goodbye politely but firmly, it was clear that he was looking forward to the explanation of the strange appearance of the Necromancer, the good of the village was his heart.

"Yes, thank you and sorry for taking so much of your time Mr. Enzo, I'm leaving"

"It's okay kid, see you soon," Enzo waved his hand and they sat down at his bulky white wooden desk. "Close the door behind you when you leave."

"Okay, see you later." – Jason finished and quickly walked away towards the door.

Enzo's predictions turned out to be extremely accurate. As soon as Jason closed the door, Firlo jumped out from behind one of the wardrobes in the entrance corridors. But now he was as pale as a wall.

"Is everything you told dad true?" he asked in a trembling tone. He had an expression on his face as if he had seen a ghost, or as if all the monsters under the bed turned out to be real.

"Unfortunately, yes, since you've heard everything, why don't you tell me where I can stay? I'd also like to eat something, and I think I need some money."

"Yes, yes, sure. As for money, you can sell Eren's fangs in the Ronald's shop, it's the only shop we have in the village, it gives fair prices - usually.

As for a place to sleep, I'll take you there right away. We have a few homes that have recently become vacant."

"have become vacant? What happened to the previous residents?" Jason asked, a little scared, he didn't want to get a house after someone who died or went missing.

"Well, nothing serious really. You know, life in our village is quite hard, there are no luxuries that you can find in cities. Several families have moved to the city, the men will serve as soldiers there," Firlo explained bluntly, but with a slight contempt in his voice.

"Ah, I see." – Jason nodded understandingly, directing his steps behind Firlo. After a few minutes, they reached a small house, very close to the palisade.

"One of these families lived here, they had no children, so the house is small, but it should be enough for you. I'll give you some time to settle in, We'll meet in the evening and I will show you around the village. When you were talking to the Father, I divided the meat, I will tell our people to bring some of it to your home, there behind the house you have a well from which you can drink water. Make yourself at home and thanks again for your help."
