"How come? Explain it! If you make fun of me, you will be punished in a rough way!"
"Mr. Enzo, I wouldn't dare," Jason told about his dream and what happened next – a fight with the living dead, after which his friend got lost.
"Rey!!,." Enzo shouted.
After a while, a slender but muscular man in his 20s ran into the room. He was dressed in leather pants, soft leather boots that seemed perfect for moving quietly in the woods, and a plain brown shirt.
"Yes, Dad? How can I help?" The boy asked in a friendly tone. Only now did Jason notice the similarity between all three people, Enzo, Firlo and Rey. Though they differed in age and stature, they all had a kind of wildness in their eyes and facial features.
"Gather some more experienced fighters, preferably those who have experience in the dungeons. It is possible that there is a mage from the south somewhere in our forest!"
The smile disappeared from Rey's face immediately, and the blood drained from his face in a flash. While Enzo remained calm, Ray's hands began to shake. The people of Edelfross did not shy away from adventure and fighting, but there was one thing they did not understand and did not want to have anything to do with it, and that was magic.
"All right, father, I'm getting to work with the preparations right away. In which direction should we start?"
Jason quickly described the direction from which he and Firlo had come, and the approximate location of the hill where he had encamped, and where the remains of their former opponent should still be.
"Rey, I know we don't usually do this but one of you should take one magic protection charm, I hope it won't be necessary, but when dealing with magic, I prefer to be careful."
"After defeating this undead, I encountered nothing strange in the forest, maybe it was just one creature of this sort which got through the wall? "
"Jason, I would like to believe it too, unfortunately getting through the wall is not something a summon like that, especially one as weak as you describe it, is able to do. You need to know that powerful warriors and mages are stationed on the wall, facing enemies from the south every day. It's not easy to walk past them."
"Of course, Mr. Enzo, I understand. Is there anything I can do to help?
"You've already helped enough by bringing my younger son and killing this bogeyman and warning us. We may look like primitive warriors, as city folks often perceive us, but our people have experience defeating beasts from both the forest and the dungeons that often spawn in this area.
"Ray, after gathering people, please go to the place indicated by Jason, first of all I want to know if we have anything to fear."
Jason was a little surprised by the importance Enzo attached to the whole event, he did not realize how much fear the necromancers and their summons were identified with among the people in the north. It was the equivalent of everything that the people in Jason's world used to scare children with, except that the necromancers in this world really existed.
Ray left the room as soon as he received the order from his father, his steps were hurried, although he refrained from running out of the room. After leaving, he closed the door behind him, leaving Enzo and Jason alone in the room.
"Jason, I don't know how to thank you, if it wasn't for you, we could have been surprised by the necromancer, it could have ended badly for us. Fortunately, we are not completely helpless against such an opponent," A mysterious smile returned to Enzo's face.
"Mr. Enzo, no problem, I'm always happy to help, I just don't know what to do with myself now. I need to find my friend"
"If I were you, I wouldn't be looking for him now, being at your current stage of development, fighting a necromancer, even a not very powerful one, would mean death. I'd probably have to face someone like that alone or send a group of experienced fighters against him, which I did. Don't be afraid, in a few days it will turn out if we have anything to fear, our people know this forest like the back of their hand and are the best trackers in the northern hemisphere." – said Enzo with conviction.
"What should I do then?" – Jason's hands fell in resignation. "According to what you say, I was transferred here from a completely different world, governed by different rules, I don't know where I am, I'm too weak to look for my friend on my own..."
"You're right, I said you shouldn't look for your friend, because you could meet again that creature you saw in your dream. I know it's a very unpleasant prospect, but there is a possibility that your friend has been abducted by that necromancer. In that case, you wouldn't be able to do anything."
Jason turned pale and felt everything he had eaten that morning come dangerously close to his throat. He almost vomited on the floor in front of him, because of the fear for his friend – the only person close to him in this world left him speechless and his stomach clenched.
"Courage boy, we'll do our best to find him, and maybe he'll end up in our village himself. Give our trackers and warriors a few days, during which time I will place you somewhere in our village, we should have a few free houses.
Like I said, we don't have any sages or scholars here to help you discover anything about your power, or how you got here. The nearest larger town is a few months travel away – Edelfross is very extensive. Our people don't go that far very often, either, but I have an idea.
Maybe you will stay with us for a while, if your friend does not find himself in that time and the danger of the necromancer is not confirmed, I could give you some tasks to complete in the vicinity of the village. Thanks to them, you would strengthen yourself a bit, earn some change. After a while, you might be able to go on your own to Sirdawen, the city I mentioned to you."
