Chapter 39 - Chapter 39: Temple of Forgotten Light

[EXT. MOUNTAIN PATH – NIGHT]

The stars shimmer faintly overhead as Haruto and Airi ascend the fog-wreathed trail. Their artifacts — the watch and the ring — glow softly in sync, casting pale halos of light on the ancient stones.

Haruto breathed heavily, glancing around.

"This place… feels familiar. But I've never been here before."

Airi stepped closer, her voice a soft whisper.

"Not in this life."

The air grew heavier with every step, charged with ancient, slumbering power. At the mountain's peak, a crumbling temple revealed itself — half-swallowed by ivy, yet still thrumming with forgotten divinity.

---

[INT. TEMPLE OF FORGOTTEN LIGHT]

The moment they crossed the threshold, their artifacts pulsed violently. Time itself seemed to warp inside the temple walls.

FLASH.

Flickering illusions materialized — echoes of their divine past.

Haruto and Airi, clad in celestial armor, stood before kneeling followers.

Past-Haruto held a silver blade carved from time itself.

Past-Airi, wreathed in white flame, carried a staff crowned with stars.

Past-Haruto's voice echoed faintly.

"This temple will hold the first memory. If we ever lose ourselves… let it call us back."

Past-Airi smiled, touching his hand.

"And if our love fades in time… this place will be our vow, forever written in light."

The illusions faded like mist.

Haruto staggered forward, whispering,

"This is where we sealed our past…"

The ground shuddered violently. From the shadows emerged a towering figure — draped in dark armor woven with moving clockwork, its violet eyes burning like twin voids.

The Dark Warden.

Its voice rumbled like thunder.

"You were not meant to return."

Airi narrowed her eyes, stepping in front of Haruto.

"Too late for that."

---

[BATTLE BEGINS]

The Warden moved impossibly fast, slashing reality itself.

Haruto tried to freeze time — but the Warden ignored it, slipping through the freeze like mist.

Haruto cursed.

"He's like Tenma — he moves through stopped time!"

Airi's ring flared, scattering a spiral of ancient runes into the air.

"Then we don't stop time..."

Her voice was steady, certain.

The runes pulsed — and Haruto's watch vibrated violently. With a loud click, a hidden compartment snapped open.

A blade unfolded — forged from light, time, and memory itself.

Haruto gasped.

"This… this was mine?!"

A voice echoed from nowhere.

"It was always yours, Haruto… you simply forgot."

Together, they charged.

The Lightwatch Blade met the ring's restored light — striking true against the Warden's armor.

Cracks spiderwebbed across the Dark Warden's form.

The Warden hissed.

"You are fragments. Incomplete!"

Airi's voice was cold and resolute.

"Then it's time to fix that."

She placed her hand on the glowing altar at the temple's center.

The ring fused briefly with the ancient markings — and the temple EXPLODED with blinding light.

---

FLASHBACK.

The divine skies, ruled by Haruto and Airi's true forms.

A betrayal, tearing the heavens apart.

Their decision to descend into the mortal world, sealing away their powers.

A vow whispered beneath shattered stars.

---

Haruto and Airi collapsed, clutching their heads — as their eyes briefly flickered open, revealing golden and silver divine light.

The Dark Warden staggered backward, voice trembling.

"Impossible… you've begun… to awaken…"

Haruto rose slowly, blade raised.

"You kept us asleep long enough."

With a final cry, they unleashed their combined technique:

Lightwatch Slash!

A storm of divine energy erupted — obliterating the Warden into fragments of cursed time.

Silence fell.

---

At the altar, a golden sigil burned into existence — twin emblems etched in ancient language.

Airi stumbled forward, hand pressed to her chest.

"I remember… a little more now.

My name… wasn't just Airi."

Haruto nodded, gripping her hand.

"Neither was mine."

The camera panned upward.

Above them, a lone bell chimed — the sound crossing into realms unseen.

Far, far away, within the Dark Realm…

The Dark God stirred.

Dark God (in shadows):

"Their light returns...

Then let the next hunter be unleashed."

A monstrous silhouette began to form, shattering the space around it.
