Chapter 43 - Chapter 43 – The Shadow That Tortures Light

[INT. HARUTO'S MIND – DREAMSCAPE / STARFIELD VOID]

A black void stretched out endlessly — stars and broken divine glyphs drifting like dying embers.

Haruto stood at the center, dazed.

Beside him, Airi floated, just as disoriented.

Suddenly —

two figures descended, cloaked in shifting cosmic robes: the God and Goddess of Space.

Their voices rumbled with infinite gravity.

Space God & Goddess (unison):

"The balance shatters. A shadow moves beneath the fragments of light."

Haruto's fists clenched.

"A shadow…?"

Airi's senses sharpened, her expression grim.

"Something's wrong. I can feel it. Like… a heartbeat twisted into hatred."

The Space Goddess's voice softened — almost mournful.

"One day from now… it will strike.

A creature born of spite — not to kill you…

but to make you suffer."

The Space God's voice thundered:

"He toys with the child of light —

the son of your faithful kin.

He tortures him in secret.

And smiles as your silence feeds him."

A vision tore across Haruto's mind —

—a small boy, no older than two, whimpering in the darkness, surrounded by shifting, laughing shadows.

Airi gasped, her eyes blazing with raw light.

"No..."

The Space Goddess whispered, almost pleading:

"If you hesitate…

you will be too late."

[FLASH]

---

[EXT. ANCIENT FOREST — SUNSET — NEXT DAY]

Haruto and Airi tore through the warped forest, the trees twisted grotesquely by corrupted mana.

The very air felt poisonous.

Haruto, panting, felt his soul scream.

"He's here.

I can feel it—!"

A sickening CRACK echoed — followed by a child's ragged, broken scream.

Airi's heart stopped.

"That's… a baby crying..."

They sprinted faster—

---

[EXT. FOREST CLEARING – SUNSET]

They broke into a clearing… and froze.

In the center,

a silver-haired toddler lay in a crater of shattered soil, his small body bruised, bleeding, shaking with every shallow breath.

Above him —

towered a monstrous figure.

Krevaz.

Over eight feet tall, with rock-like gray skin veined with molten lava.

His eyes blazed crimson — his cruel smile wide as he pressed his boot against the child's chest, crushing slowly.

The child gasped through broken sobs.

"P… papa…"

Krevaz sneered, voice dripping with venomous joy.

"Yes… beg.

Cry.

Let them hear your despair."

Haruto's body shook. Airi's eyes widened — then narrowed to slits of pure light.

"Get away from him… NOW!" Haruto roared.

Krevaz chuckled without looking up.

"Oh?

The Light Fragments arrived.

Too late, again.

Does it hurt…?

Watching a baby suffer in front of you?"

He pressed harder —

the boy screamed.

Krevaz threw his head back and laughed:

"You were gods once…

and now you can't even save a child.

Delicious."

---

Airi's hands trembled.

Then — BOOM —

A pulse of blinding light erupted from her chest, the ground itself trembling from the force.

Haruto stumbled back, shielding his eyes.

"Airi—?!"

But she didn't hear him.

She burned with something primal — radiant and furious.

Her voice layered — two voices: the girl and the goddess fused.

Airi (snarling):

"You touched a child.

You mocked pain.

You delighted in suffering..."

Her pupils narrowed into molten suns.

"Now...

I'll make you scream."

---

[INCOMPLETE DIVINE AWAKENING – TRIGGERED]

Divine glyphs exploded behind her in concentric rings of searing light.

Haruto's Time glyphs also sparked —

—but immediately, the watch on his wrist flickered violently, dragging him back.

Haruto grimaced in pain.

"Nghh… It's the watch…

It's locking me down again!"

Airi didn't wait.

She charged.

A divine blade unleashed.

---

[EPIC FIGHT SEQUENCE – ROUND ONE]

Airi vs. Krevaz.

She streaked forward faster than sight, forming twin light daggers in midair.

Krevaz lashed out with shadow tendrils —

—Airi tore through them, carving radiant scars into the very darkness.

She grabbed one of his horns mid-swing —

spun —

and SLAMMED his massive form into a boulder, splitting it like glass.

Krevaz laughed, blood leaking from his mouth.

"YESSSS.

That's the rage I wanted!"

He blasted cursed fire in retaliation —

—but Airi shielded the boy with a dome of pure light.

---

Haruto gritted his teeth — fighting through the watch's resistance.

"Why…?

Why now?

I can feel the strength…

but it won't unlock…!"

Still, he attacked —

ripping through space-time to slice Krevaz's spine open with a burst of frozen time.

Krevaz staggered —

—but still laughed.

"Poor little Watchbearer.

Chained by your own toy.

Pathetic next to her."

---

[FINAL SEQUENCE – TEAM STRIKE]

Airi rose into the sky, energy swirling around her in a spiral of radiance.

Airi (roaring):

"For every scream you made him cry—

I'll burn your soul into dust!"

She descended like a meteor —

striking Krevaz dead in the core with a column of divine fire.

Haruto followed —

landing a final time-split punch that froze Krevaz mid-scream,

long enough for Airi's holy beam to pierce through his cursed heart.

Krevaz's last words tore out in terror:

"NO—WAIT—IF I DIE—THE DARK GOD—!!"

BOOM.

He exploded into cursed ash — scattered on the wind.

---

[EXT. BATTLEFIELD – SILENCE]

Airi collapsed to her knees, gathering the broken child into her arms, cradling him with infinite care.

The boy whimpered once — then fell into exhausted sleep.

Haruto stood nearby, staring at his trembling hands —

and the cursed watch that still bound him.

---

[EXT. FOREST EDGE – MOMENTS LATER]

The Fairy Matron and Knight Commander of Light arrived, panic on their faces.

They froze —

seeing Airi, radiant with leftover divinity, cradling their son.

The Matron choked back a sob.

"…Our baby…"

The Knight Commander stepped forward hesitantly.

"Is he…?"

Haruto nodded grimly.

"Alive.

Scarred.

But alive.

Protect him."

They moved to approach —

but Airi rose to her feet, still burning with leftover divine fury.

She placed the boy gently into the Matron's arms.

Airi (calm but firm):

"He found his way here.

We saved him.

But from now on — do not follow us again."

The Knight Commander staggered.

"Why…?"

Airi glanced at Haruto, her voice low.

"Because it's too dangerous.

Because if you follow us again —

it won't be just your son who gets hurt."

The parents bowed their heads, tears falling freely.

Without another word,

Haruto and Airi turned away —

and disappeared into the darkening woods.

---

[FINAL MOMENT – HARUTO'S INNER VOICE]

Haruto stared at the cursed watch, vibrating against his wrist.

(Why did it hold me back…?

What's buried inside this thing…?

What am I still not ready to face…?)
