Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Correct Way to Use the Simulator

〖Target confirmed deceased〗

〖Extracting two highest-value loot items〗

『1』Water Nature Affinity

『2』+6 Strength

"Hiss~"

Seeing the loot displayed by the system, Uchiha Kirin couldn't help but suck in a sharp breath. Just one kill and he'd gained a full 6 points of Strength! Previously, he'd needed to grind through at least two full simulations—training tirelessly just to scrape together the same amount.

And now? One kill, and not only did he meet his goal, but he also earned a valuable Nature Affinity.

The more powerful a shinobi, the more Nature Affinities they tend to possess. While having many doesn't guarantee power, it's definitely a prerequisite for reaching the top.

This kind of reward made Kirin begin to doubt whether he had been using the simulator wrong the entire time.

"Claim loot," he muttered silently.

A surge of warmth erupted from the void, spreading through his limbs. A cool sensation pooled in his abdomen.

...

〖Simulator〗

〖Holder: Uchiha Kirin〗

Strength: 7 → 9 → 15

Speed: 10 → 12

Endurance: 5 → 7

Spirit: 33

Chakra: 100

Dōjutsu Power: 10/10

Nature Affinities: Fire, Wind, Water, Yin

Kekkei Genkai: Sharingan (One Tomoe)

Combat Skills: Basic Taijutsu, Manipulated Shuriken Technique, Chakra Refinement Technique, Uchiha Swordsmanship (Basic)

Simulation Points: 1

Staring at the panel, his stats now surpassing that of an average adult, Kirin clenched his fist and threw a punch into the air. The force generated stirred the wind around him.

His sword training during the simulation had given him a 2-point boost in Strength, Speed, and Endurance. Combined with the loot from Uchiha Kazuki, his once-low Strength had now overtaken his previously highest stat—Speed.

"Man, this ninja body is insane! So much better than that office-worker body that stayed up all night eating garbage takeout!"

As he savored the long-lost sensation of power, an idea suddenly struck him.

"Wait... I've got a plan!"

Until now, every simulation ended with him dying not long after it began—at best, he lasted less than a week. That made it almost impossible to gain anything meaningful through training or exploration. As a result, the rewards from the Loot System were consistently more valuable than anything he could earn through hard work.

And that was just from killing a random street punk who didn't even qualify as a shinobi.

"What if I made a real ninja my target?"

He recalled how, at the end of his last simulation, he had self-destructed and taken down a Root operative with him. Technically, that counted as a kill, right? And if it was a Root ninja—who were at least Chūnin level—that meant the loot would be incredibly valuable.

"The only problem is... I don't know who that Root ninja actually was. So how do I even set the target?"

Scratching his head, Kirin decided to summon the assistant for clarification.

〖Ding~ Minimum requirement to set a target: you must know the person's name and approximate identity. Additionally, the target must be uniquely identifiable within that range.〗

"Huh. Okay, how about this—let's say the name is Samel, and he's a ninja. That work?"

〖Ding~ Invalid. The target range is too broad and may include multiple individuals with that name.〗

〖Ding~ Try this instead: Samel, Konohagakure ANBU, spotted this afternoon strolling down Food Street.〗

〖Ding~ That level of detail ensures the Loot System can identify the target as a unique individual.〗

"I see… So even if I don't know their real name, as long as I use a codename and provide a specific time and place, I can lock on to them?"

〖Ding~ Correct. Add the time and location, and you can lock in the target.〗

Kirin nodded thoughtfully. Gathering this kind of intel wasn't too difficult. There were some limitations, but if codenames plus time and location were enough, then his Loot System was way more versatile than something like a Death Note.

As for gathering codenames and positions—he just had to die a few more times in simulations and figure them out.

And he had another advantage: as long as he didn't drastically change the course of events, there would definitely be a team from the Root Barrier Squad setting up formations near the Uchiha compound this evening.

Barrier Squad members had fixed positions, and they were guaranteed to be elite—at least Chūnin level. If he was lucky, he might even snag some sealing techniques.

"Simulator, activate! Loot System target: Uchiha Kazuki."

With that, Uchiha Kirin began a new round of simulation.

...

〖Simulation Start〗

1:00 AM

After a hot bath, you collapse onto the bed to rest. While thinking things through, you realize approaching a ninja head-on has an absurdly high failure rate. You decide to first learn some disguise techniques.

Transformation Jutsu, one of the Three Basic Techniques, is a good starting point. After all, both Naruto's Sexy Jutsu and Reverse Harem Jutsu stem from it. If used cleverly, even low-level techniques can yield great results.

...

2:00 AM

You knock on Granny Yukina's door.

To keep things on track, you avoid revealing your Sharingan. Instead, you casually demonstrate your shuriken throwing skills and express a desire to learn the Three Basic Techniques.

...

3:00 AM

You pretend to study Chakra Refinement again—something you've already mastered—and quietly accumulate chakra.

...

4:00 AM

With your high Spirit stat, you learn quickly even without your Sharingan. With Granny Yukina's guidance, you swiftly grasp the core concepts of the Three Basic Techniques.

You're struck by how different things are for clans compared to commoners. In the ninja academy, civilian kids waste three years just trying to learn these basics. But in the Uchiha clan? All it takes is asking the right person at the right time.

As for Sasuke… well, his family didn't have time to teach him before the massacre. The clan's jutsu were wiped out, and he couldn't even self-study. That's why he had to laugh along with his classmates in the academy, under the guise of "building bonds." It wasn't until he learned Chidori from Kakashi that he finally stepped into the real world of shinobi.

...

5:00 AM

After a few practice rounds—and with a Spirit stat more than triple that of a normal adult—you can now perform both Transformation and Clone Jutsu smoothly.

Substitution Jutsu isn't some spatial technique. It's a combination of a basic sealing mark and chakra manipulation that lets you switch places with a pre-marked object.

The key is to inscribe the sealing formula on a log or rock using chakra, then activate the switch using chakra attraction. But your lack of control causes repeated failures: sometimes you slam into the substitute, sometimes you overshoot or undershoot the force needed to trigger the switch.

...

6:00 AM

Following Granny Yukina's advice, you return to practicing the fundamentals of chakra control: chakra adhesion and repulsion. Just like Team 7 in the story, you train by standing on water barrels and running up walls using chakra at your feet.

...

7:00 AM

After breakfast, you continue honing your chakra control.

...

8:00 AM

You completely drain your chakra and stop refining more.

Now it's time to scout out Root's movements outside the Uchiha compound. Like usual, you go for a morning jog around the area.
