"Truly interesting. Then let me properly witness your capacity, demigod!"
Odin shouted thus, a mocking smile on his face.
"Will you be able to crush Huginn and Muninn, or will you defeat Geri and Freki?"
As he said this, his eyes held a fervent look.
"Well then, I shall watch from here, King of Heroes. Since you wish to become a so-called Godslayer, then let me see your strength!"
As his words landed, the four red orbs of light gradually bloomed.
It was the pressure of a god, or perhaps the pressure of divine beasts.
Whether Huginn and Muninn, or Geri and Freki, all were divine beasts subordinate to Odin. The two crows representing knowledge and wisdom, and the two wolves at Odin's feet. Undoubtedly, with Odin's mythology, they too had been elevated to divine beasts.
Those were crows with wingspans of a full five or six meters, far larger than ordinary eagles by several times over. Silk-like black plumage, combined with incomparably sharp claws and beaks that reflected light, constituted these legendary divine beasts. Signifying the powers of 'Knowledge' and 'Wisdom,' they were wiser and more terrifying than ordinary humans.
And those two wolves were easily tens of meters in size, even larger than the Bull of Heaven previously defeated by Gilgamesh. The very earth trembled as the two wolves advanced.
But watching this scene, Gilgamesh merely narrowed his eyes slightly, a look of dissatisfaction appearing on his face.
"So, this is what you rely on, mongrel?"
He tilted his head slightly, his face filled with disdain. Even if they were strong, they were merely divine beasts. He felt no fear even when facing true gods, let alone such 'feeble' divine beasts!
"If that's the case, then this King shall grant you a satisfying death!"
Gilgamesh said this, the corners of his mouth quirking up slightly, his narrowed eyes opening a fraction.
"Chains of Heaven!"
The King spoke thus, and golden ripples, one after another, once again appeared in the sky hundreds of meters high. Then, the chains lunged towards those divine beasts.
Seeing this scene, even Odin, already bound by layers of the Chains of Heaven, showed a trace of delight on his face.
However… this was meaningless. Yes, utterly meaningless.
The legend associated with the divine beasts Huginn and Muninn was that they could circle the world daily, then report the day's sights and sounds to Odin. Such a myth implied that the speed of these two crows was not so simple. Not to mention what kind of extreme speed it would take to circle the world in a day, it was definitely not something the slow-moving Chains of Heaven could compare to.
Sure enough, the Chains of Heaven missed. The two crows, merely with a slight flutter of their wings, escaped the chains' range. And behind them, only a few ominous black feathers were shed. Those black feathers drifted down slowly, as if mocking Gilgamesh's incompetence.
"Mongrel, you think you've dodged this!?"
Gilgamesh's face was filled with pride and anger. He finally opened his crimson, serpentine pupils in a rage. Then, in the next instant, golden ripples bloomed in the sky, a sky full of golden gates of light, an extremely shocking sight, signifying the majesty of the King of Heroes.
Treasures (Noble Phantasms) surged forth from them, then lunged towards the divine beasts without hesitation. Those golden treasures instantly filled the entire sky. The two wolves possessing divinity were instantly pierced and torn apart.
However, the two divine crows still dodged the treasures with ease, occasionally lunging towards the 'Ship of Light' where Gilgamesh was located.
"Damn it all! Rho Aias!"
Gilgamesh's face was contorted with rage as he watched the two divine crows rushing towards him. With his strength and endurance not being exceptional, if these divine beasts got close, it wouldn't be so easy to deal with them. Although he possessed extremely fine martial skills, it didn't mean he had to engage in a life-or-death struggle with such lowly beasts. For a King, that was an undeniable disgrace!
But, how could mere divine beasts approach Gilgamesh's body?
With a faintly disdainful smile, Gilgamesh slowly drew from the gradually blooming ripples in his hand a sword with a deep blue hilt, but whose blade was a dazzling silver longsword.
"Well then, mongrels, roll back into mythology for this King!"
He spoke thus, then lightly swung the longsword.
"Excalibur Galatine!"
Without a shred of hesitation, he directly released the holy sword in his hand. The already bright sunny weather, with the thick clouds that had gathered due to Odin's arrival, was directly blown away. Specks of golden light appeared in Gilgamesh's hand as the longsword emitted an incomparably brilliant radiance.
An unparalleled might directly descended upon Odin and the two remaining crows. It was the might belonging to 'Excalibur Galatine,' the blazing flames of the sun!
Even the two inherently agile crows, the two divine beasts capable of circling the entire world in a single day, now lacked even the ability to flap their wings.
Then, Gilgamesh gently swung the longsword in his hand downwards.
In an instant, a fierce light shone in the eyes of the few remaining knights.
"My King, please seize victory!" Liliana murmured, watching the light on the horizon. She believed with utmost certainty that Gilgamesh would achieve victory, even if his opponent was the Norse God-King, Odin.
"Lady Liliana, please retreat with us!" The elderly knight bowed respectfully, then placed a hand on his chest and spoke.
But a tear streaked down the girl's face, quickly hidden by a look of resolve.
"Pay me no mind. You all retreat first!" she said, not even looking at the knights' already somewhat exasperated expressions.
"Impossible. Lady Liliana, you are the future of the Bronze Black Cross, and our shared pride. You must retreat! Otherwise, the battle between the Heretic God and that King could spread here at any moment!" he said, his face urgent.
The command Diana had given him was to protect Liliana's safety above all else. Compared to that, the success or failure of god-slaying was a minor matter. After all, for an organization like the Bronze Black Cross, a genius like Liliana represented immense significance.
"I said, take those shrine maidens and retreat!" Liliana said, then unfastened her beloved Silver Masterpiece and tossed it to the knight.
"To allow the King to fight alone is already a dereliction of duty for a knight. If I were to flee like this, I would never be able to forgive myself!" She lightly shook her silver hair, her eyes shining with resolute light.
"Take the 'Silver Masterpiece' back. His Majesty will protect my safety!" The girl's eyes brimmed with blind faith, trust in that King, that King of Heroes named 'Gilgamesh.'
Seeing her still as stubborn as ever, the elderly knight couldn't help but sigh. He knew his mission was likely impossible to complete. Even if Liliana relinquished the 'Silver Masterpiece,' a fellow like him couldn't defeat her. So, the man didn't seek his own humiliation but performed a standard salute and directly withdrew.
He repeated in his heart, over and over, that sentence: "I hope you will not disappoint Liliana, King of Heroes!"
