Chapter 33 - OPRS: Chapter 33

Alistair wanted to laugh, but he kept a straight face and held back.

He was now like a drill sergeant, holding a stick, hitting anyone whose posture was incorrect. He didn't hold back, hitting hard. Everyone who was hit flinched violently.

They were furious and wanted to retaliate, but seeing the snake-like hair beside Alistair, they obediently and quietly stood up as Alistair demanded.

Some thought, "It's just standing, what's there to be afraid of?"

Ten minutes later, they all wanted to slap themselves. How did this guy find such a method of torment? He was a devil.

"It's just standing, why are they so uncomfortable?" Ran, with a snake wrapped around her, looked at Alistair, who happened to be passing by on inspection, with puzzlement.

"If you want to know, try it yourself." Alistair chuckled, not directly telling her the reason, but mischievously suggesting that Ran try it.

Seeing his mischievous smile, Ran was unconvinced. She was an Amazonian warrior. How could she not even be able to stand properly?

She left the railing she was leaning on, unconvinced. After only five minutes, she could already experience the pain of those crew members.

"Violence can make you submit, but only discipline can make you strong." Alistair ignored Ran.

He lightly tapped his palm with his stick and patrolled the ranks.

Fifteen minutes, plus the scorching sun, had already made everyone sweat profusely.

If they weren't in the Calm Belt, with minimal waves, they wouldn't have been able to stand so neatly.

Now, Alistair walked past the neat ranks and asked, "Do you know why I made you line up?"

It's because you want to torture us.

The pirates grumbled inwardly, but didn't dare to say anything.

"Report!" Barabaro shouted. This was a rule Alistair had set. No matter who spoke, they had to get his permission.

He was ruthlessly applying the concept of a modern army. An army was a crucible, forging steel. Either you become steel or you become slag. No one could escape.

The high-pressure and violent methods were indeed not good, but for these pirates, it was a practical approach.

"Speak!" Alistair's face was stern. He didn't show any leniency because it was Barabaro.

"To train our stamina." Barabaro stepped forward and shouted.

"Correct!" Alistair nodded. Barabaro stepped back and returned to his place in the ranks.

"Deep in the Grand Line, there's an advanced fighting technique called Haki. It requires you to have a strong body and a firm spirit to learn. And you, you bunch of trash, are ten thousand miles away from Haki!"

Did I just insult myself? Oh well.

"And Sandersonia's hair is an advanced application of this Haki technique (no, not everyone can learn Life Return)." Sandersonia's hair was always around Alistair.

Her hair almost reached her calves. Although she was four meters tall, it wasn't strange for her hair to be so long. What was strange was that when Alistair moved through the crowd, her hair seemed to be infinitely long, following Alistair's footsteps, accompanying him like a living creature as he inspected the ranks.

This was probably because she had developed an advanced application of her Devil Fruit ability combined with Haki, making it look so effortless.

"Armament Haki, which makes your body incredibly hard, and Observation Haki, which allows you to clearly hear the location of your enemy's attacks, are beyond your reach."

"Report!" someone shouted.

Alistair looked closely. It was Todd.

"Speak!"

"Then what's the use of this body training?" He looked at Alistair sideways. He didn't have any good feelings for the guy who had defeated him. He wasn't a supporting character in a story who would immediately bow down. He didn't think this lucky man who had hooked up with the Kuja Pirates had anything special about him.

This was the "I could do it too" mentality. With this attitude, he disliked Alistair's bullying even more. And Alistair was "meaninglessly" tormenting them, making him even more annoyed.

Although he couldn't resist, he was quite happy to get a few cheap shots in, exposing Alistair's hypocrisy.

His words represented the feelings of a large portion of the crew.

Forget about Haki, with this training, they probably wouldn't be able to beat their captain, William, even if they trained for a lifetime.

And their captain undoubtedly didn't know Haki.

"You're right, this training volume is indeed very low, and it has nothing to do with Haki."

Alistair's words made all the pirates' faces turn angry, but luckily, in the past fifteen minutes, he had already corrected them to the point where they didn't dare to speak out of turn.

"But you idiots, use those brains you haven't used in decades to think carefully. With this formation and a musket in each hand, what kind of firepower can you unleash?!"

"Your individual strength is weak. Even with swords, it takes hundreds of people to barely contend with a Devil Fruit user. But with this formation, even your captain, William, can't withstand your volley of shots."

The entire ship fell silent. Except for the cries of the seagulls following the ship, everyone's breathing slowed. Their sweat slowly trickled down their temples, beards, and cheeks.

Their captain, William, was sweating along with them.

They were a poor pirate crew. They had never imagined a scenario where everyone had a musket. This was indeed the case. Except for Capone Bege, most pirates in One Piece had insufficient firepower. When the firepower was sufficient, even powerful Mink Tribe warriors like Pekoms would be killed on the spot. Most pirates below 100 million bounty couldn't withstand a volley of musket fire.

And the reason Alistair had them practice formations was self-evident.

That's right, the secret weapon Alistair had prepared for them was a tactic born in the Age of Exploration to compensate for the shortcomings of musket shooting.

Three-volley fire.

This shooting, of course, relied on the entire army's formation and discipline. As long as they maintained their formation, they would almost be invincible in a boarding battle.
