Chapter 38 - OPRS: Chapter 38

"So, what should we do?" Aboard the Perfume Serpent, the Spade Pirates, somehow released from their bonds, were voraciously devouring the food provided by the Amazon Lily warriors.

Their eating habits were truly a sight to behold. Even more astonishing was how the arrow wounds inflicted by the Amazonian warriors were slowly healing after they ate, which was simply unbelievable.

Alistair knew there was a systemic difference between them, but he hadn't expected it to be this vast.

It was like Luffy and his crew, frequently fighting to the death with the Shichibukai, then celebrating with a feast of meat and alcohol as if nothing had happened.

If Luffy, as a rubber man, could store pain and fatigue and use meat to repair his muscle and bodily damage, then Zoro and Sanji's physiques were simply too extraordinary.

For example, after Bartholomew Kuma bounced all of Luffy's injuries away, Zoro endured them all, and then acted as if nothing had happened, eating and drinking. The pain was over once it was over.

The physiques of the people in this world, especially those who trained, were incredibly strong. Alistair envied them.

"We have another pirate ship behind us, the Devils Luck Pirates. They got lost in the Calm Belt and were saved by us. I want to recruit them, turn them into our fighting force."

Alistair also ate a little, speaking as he ate.

Hancock sat beside him, not eating herself, but readily picking up food and bringing it to Alistair's mouth whenever he wanted. This kind of treatment was enough to make anyone envious.

Alistair occasionally nodded and smiled at Hancock, thanking her for her attention, then continued, "But they're a bit wild and difficult to tame. Their lawlessness isn't the same as yours. You're pirates, you should know what kind of pirates they are."

Ace, his mouth full of food, grunted in displeasure at Alistair's words, but it also indicated his agreement with Alistair's assessment.

"But after these few days of training, they've become completely different. Their combat power will be amazing, stronger than ordinary Marines."

"Really that incredible?" The ship's doctor, Masked Deuce, asked, spraying saliva as he ate meat.

"You'll see when you see them." Alistair smiled, offering no explanation. A sudden thud startled everyone. Ace had fallen face-first into his rice bowl and was fast asleep.

"Did he choke?!" Ran asked uncertainly.

"No, it's an old habit of his, something he developed as a child." 'Teacher' Mihar waved his hand, signaling everyone to ignore him.

He carried a musket on his back, making Alistair's eyes light up.

"Those shots just now, were they your sniping?"

Mihar was arguably the only member of the Spade Pirates who had inflicted damage on the Kuja Pirates. Even Ace, when facing Hancock, was instantly incapacitated without causing any casualties, while Mihar not only knocked down an Amazonian warrior but also almost killed Alistair.

If he were an enemy, he would be a target for immediate elimination.

But now that he was a teammate, all his flaws became advantages. This sniper was strong, very strong, and very rare. So far, Alistair only knew of the Red Hair Pirates, the Straw Hat Pirates, the Blackbeard Pirates, and the Spade Pirates as having snipers.

The reason was that a strong crew could protect a sniper, and only within a strong crew could a sniper survive and grow.

But there was a contradiction: did a strong crew really need a sniper?

And could a strong crew cultivate a sniper? Would they be willing to do so?

The fact was that almost no one was willing.

Except for the Straw Hats, most snipers already possessed very strong combat power from the start. They weren't strong because of the crew's protection, but the crew accepted them because they were already strong.

This created a paradox.

This was why snipers were so rare throughout the Grand Line. It was a talent that even the Marines didn't have, or didn't bother to cultivate.

But sometimes, these snipers could turn the tide of battle.

For example, if Mihar had stronger Observation and Armament Haki, he could pierce Sandersonia's hair and blow Alistair's head off with a single shot.

"Your task is simple." Alistair looked at them, ignoring Ace. Given Ace's temperament and personality, the operation of the Spade Pirates probably had little to do with him, but rather, his friends were running it.

"Get stronger as quickly as possible, master Observation and Armament Haki, develop high-level combat power, and be able to fight against Marine Captains and above. That's all."

Alistair's words made the Spade Pirates, who were eating heartily, unconvinced.

"It's just that you're too strong. We're not afraid of the Marines at all," Wallace, who had almost recovered, said unconvinced, chewing on a mouthful of rice.

"The Headquarters Marines and the branch Marines are different. The Marines in the Grand Line and the Marines in the Four Seas are different. The Marines guarding the bases and the Marines chasing pirates are also different. You've only seen a small part of the Marines' strength," Alistair shook his head, troubled by their shortsightedness.

"We know the Marines are strong, but probably only a small number of people can reach your level." The Kuja Pirates, with over fifty people, all knew Haki. This was a terrifying proportion. This was almost equivalent to fifty Captain-level cadres in the Grand Line, and the Kuja Pirates' cadres could rival the Grand Line's Rear Admirals.

But…

The Kuja Pirates only had six cadres, while the Marines had at least twenty Rear Admirals!

These few, who weren't even Captain-level, where did they get the confidence to underestimate the Marines?

"But... the Marines we encountered before were really..." The ship's doctor, Masked Deuce, shook his head, remembering the Marines they had encountered before. They played with them like toys, there was no need to take them seriously.

"You're weak but have big mouths. Fine, let me give you a lesson on the Marines' operational methods and talent cultivation techniques." Alistair shook his head. This time, he had to correct their wrong ideas.
