Chapter 19 - Main quest 3

Satisfied with the blade she got from Jayhan, Kara nodded her head, placing it on her shoulder with one hand on her waist.

Even she could feel she had gotten stronger.

Next—

"I got this for you too."

Jared threw an Eye of Slons at Veronica.

Leaning out of the car a bit, Veronica caught the artifact.

It was round, shaped exactly like an eyeball. The only difference was that there wasn't just one pupil; multiple tiny pupils were drawn on it.

A disgusted look played on Veronica's face.

"J bear, what is this?"

"An artifact. It lets you see things from far distances and around corners. Pretty useful if you need to find someone or a place to hide."

Yeah, Veronica didn't care about the ability. It was hideous, and that was enough reason for her not to hold it.

"I don't mean to be rude, but, like, I don't have to hold this all the time, right? It's totally disgusting, and I might puke just staring at it."

Jayhan had a deadpan look on his face.

'She's always so dramatic.'

He then pointed at his chest—

"You don't need to hold it all the time. Once you equip it, the artifact will become a part of you."

"I don't know if you've noticed, J bear, but I don't exactly know what all of that means. I am not a nerd."

Jayhan once again could not believe his ears.

"Stop being an idiot. Just place the damn thing on your chest. Geez—"

Kara stepped in.

"My chest?"

The moment she placed it on her chest and thought about equipping it like Jayhan said, the artifact turned invisible.

(You now have the Eye of Slons.)

A smile formed on her face.

"Ahha~ I totally did it. Talk about amazing; this is so cool."

Kara slammed her palm on her face.

Honestly, why is Jayhan even letting this girl come with them in the first place? It's obvious she's a nuisance.

He isn't the type to allow strangers to get close to him right off the bat. Kara knew this, which was why the entire situation was even more confusing.

Could he have fallen in love with her?

Kara's eyes suddenly went low as the thought crossed her mind.

She only snapped out of it after Jayhan spoke.

"We have five minutes until the next quest starts. I should clear this up."

He began, picking up a stone as he started to walk further away.

"If my future sight is accurate enough, the Taskmaster wants us to form a group of five. Currently, we are only three, meaning we need two more people to join our group to complete the number needed."

Jayhan drew the number one at a spot on the ground.

"Once the quest starts, people will be desperate to get a group, so it will be difficult to convince anyone to join ours. In that moment, people will be desperate to join any group; as long as they are in one, they don't mind which they join."

He drew the number two at another spot on the ground.

"As such, we need to play smart," he continued. "Once the quest starts, I want you two to drag the person standing on this number two, even if you have to threaten them, to get them to join our group."

"For reals? Anyone standing on that number?" Veronica asked.

"Yes."

Jayhan knew they were probably thinking it's risky. Chances are the person standing at that exact spot could be even more dangerous than them.

That was a possibility.

Jayhan himself wasn't entirely sure. The reason being, he is following the knowledge from the game.

Sure, he found the chest in the exact same place as he did in the game.

Can the same be said for the characters?

Will they be the same as in the game? Or will they even exist in this world as he hoped?

At the end of the day, Jayhan was making a gamble.

"Don't worry, if it seems like it's getting dangerous, I'll handle it. Besides, if everything goes according to plan, people will be the ones begging to join our group." Jayhan moved closer.

"So, the number one?" Kara questioned.

"I'll handle that; you don't need to worry," Jayhan replied. "Once the quest starts, you two will move closer to the number two, and I'll stay with number one.

"As soon as they agree to join our group, we'll move back here and complete the quest for our reward."

Kara glared.

"Love, I do hope you're not planning anything crazy. I feel you're hiding something from me."

Jayhan averted his gaze.

[The character Kara is suspicious of your actions.]

'Damn this girl and her sharp senses.'

"If I was planning anything, I would let you know already. Besides, aren't you the one who enjoys when I'm being mysterious?"

Kara sighed.

"Fine, you win. Just so you know, once everything is over, you are feeding my hunger."

"Hunger?"

"J bear, look, the timer hit zero just now!"

Jayhan immediately looked to the sky.

(Time left until the next quest: 0:00 mins.)

(Monsters will now roam the city.)

'The third quest has begun.' Jayhan clenched his fist.

(A new quest has been issued.)

(Main quest #3 - Form a group of five and meet up at the general plaza.

Description: You are to form a group with other survivors and meet up at the designated area. Once a group has been formed, your stats will be updated, and your skills will level up faster depending on how strong your members are.

Reward: A chance to sign a contract with a Divine.

Penalty: Everywhere but the main plaza will be swarming with high-level monsters.

Note: There is no danger in this quest; this is an illusion. Proceed as you choose, but failing to act may invalidate this statement.

- Rewards will be distributed to groups based on their arrival order at the plaza, from the first to the last.)

Jayhan glared.

He was right. His skill Radar did an excellent job at predicting the next quest, but not to the fullest.
