"Bold question. Do you think you can kill me?"
Jared looked her in the eye.
And she did the same.
A staring contest where neither of them knew what the other was thinking.
Or at least for one person.
[The skill Game Log has been activated.]
Jayhan didn't know what the skill was, but seeing as it activated by itself, he knew it was about to be of good use to him.
The question was... how?
[Game Log: The character Seo Yuna attacks Jayhan with a stab to the chest.]
Not even a second later, Jayhan caught Seo Yuna reaching into her boots to pull out a dagger.
She was fast.
But Jayhan already saw it coming a mile away.
Before she could stab him in the chest, he grabbed her hand and pushed her against the wall. And then right after, he held her there, making it almost impossible for her to move.
With legs pushing right between her legs, he limited her from trying to kick him. She was trapped.
Giving him a disgusted look, she uttered,
"Attacking a defenseless girl in front of all these people. Do you really want that to be your first impression?"
Jayhan looked around him with the side of his eye.
It was true, all eyes seemed to be on him. It wasn't judgmental in any way; it was more of them being curious to understand what was happening.
Well... not all of them.
[The character Kara is jealous of your action.]
Jayhan sighed; he knew he would have to deal with a lot of questions later, but for now, recruiting Seo Yuna was his first priority.
Turning his attention back to her, he replied,
"This is an apocalypse. Hundreds have died in this cold world already. You think people would care what I do to you, right here?"
Seo frowned a bit.
[Game Log: The character Seo Yuna whispered to herself in her thoughts, "What the hell is this guy's deal? He is strong. Has he upgraded his points already? He knows where the green zone is?"]
Jayhan found her thoughts a bit concerning.
Though he remembered Seo Yuna in the game didn't bother to upgrade her stats, at least not until she acquired her first Divine Guardian.
But she knew where the green zone was.
So why is she asking such a question?
Another game log entered.
[Game Log: The character Seo Yuna tries to use her copy ability on you.]
[The skill Self Insertion has blocked the copy skill.]
The moment his eyes fell on the system notification, a scream erupted from Seo's mouth.
"Ahhhhh!!!"
Blood dripped from her mouth, and she immediately lost her footing.
Thankfully, Jayhan was strong enough to keep her standing.
[The character Seo Yuna is in a lot of pain.]
Jayhan wasn't a healer, so he knew he couldn't exactly be of any help.
She tried to copy his skills, and it backfired. That was good enough for him.
"Trying to copy my skill without asking is not exactly going to work in your favor."
"Shut up."
"Wanna try again?"
"Just what in the hell are you? How are you able to resist my copy skill?" She tried to look at him, but the pain in her chest was still too much.
"If I remember correctly, you've used this skill on two people already, right? One was your schoolmate whom you killed to pass the first quest. And the other was the old man who molested you. So, I guess I can understand why you're confused right now."
Seo was more shocked than anything.
Why does this man know so much about her?
Jayhan continued,
"Now you're thinking, 'How does this dude know so much about me?'"
Seo changed her expression.
"And now you're thinking I'm dangerous and need to be taken out. You are such a violent girl."
Jayhan pulled her back up, pinning her to the wall, his lips very close to hers.
"...It should be obvious, I am your best bet to survive this apocalypse. Join my group."
Seo laughed a bit.
"In a matter of time, the world will announce the next quest. We'll be the only ones without any group. Meaning we'll most likely not get the reward. Do you really want to risk that?"
To which Jayhan grinned,
"As long as you suffer the same fate, I don't mind. We both know how power-hungry you are; there's no way you'll pass on such an opportunity to have something this powerful. I don't care about that, so... how do you think this is going to play out?..."
They stared at each other for a while.
And then...
(Third main quest update.)
(2790 people are present in the plaza.
Only 10 more people are allowed to enter.
The quest will end in 10:00 minutes.)
Murmurs immediately rippled through the crowd of survivors. Many were grateful they made it in time, and others were worried about their loved ones who hadn't made it to the plaza yet.
Jayhan, on the other hand, already saw this coming.
The same thing had happened in the game.
(2791/2800 are present in the plaza.)
"Time is going..." Jayhan whispered to Seo, urging her to make her choice.
Seo said nothing, her attention fixed on the giant screen in the sky.
(2797/2800 are present in the plaza.)
Making the most disgusted face, she finally agreed.
"Fine. I'll join your stupid group."
"Very good." Jayhan smiled.
[The character Seo Yuna has joined your group.]
[5/5 completed.]
Jayhan released his hold on her, one hand on his waist as he uttered,
"Come, let's meet up with the others. Once the quest ends, a sub-quest will occur right after. I need everyone to stay close and follow everything I say."
"Uhnnn? Why the hell should I listen to you?"
"Because a vote will be carried out to determine who will be the leader of the groups formed. No doubt my people will pick me. If you don't do as I say, I'll kick you out, which means you will not qualify for the reward."
Frowning even more, Seo walked away.
"It's the other way..." Jayhan pointed.
And she immediately turned around and followed the direction, while pouting like a little girl.
