Jayhan was pretty much already expecting them to ask.
Since he was the one who told them which option to pick, it's not surprising that they'd be curious to know what he picked.
"I got a High tier god like you guys," he replied.
"I guess we can conclude High tier is the highest rank. Meaning, the way you use your divine protector is what matters," Seo uttered from the very back.
"Pfft! That steals the whole fun out of it. I should not be getting the same rank as you all. I find it quite embarrassing." Adonis folded his hands while looking at his screen in disgust.
Kara didn't miss the chance to roll her eyes at his comment.
She then looked at Jayhan; a single look was all she needed to know he lied.
Her eyes kept tracking him, wondering why he felt the need to lie about that.
Only two reasons came to mind. 1. He either got a god more powerful than the rest of them and didn't want them to think he chose wrong for them, or 2. Jayhan picked the weakest god.
It couldn't be the latter since that wouldn't make any sense, so it had to be the first.
Jayhan, on the other hand, could already tell Kara was on to him.
[The character Kara is suspicious of you.]
Jayhan was not surprised.
'My lie wasn't meant for her anyway; it was for the group. If they found out what I got, no doubt Seo and Adonis will go crazy over it.'
He looked at the runes before him.
[Congratulations, you are the first person to step into the plaza.]
[As such, you have been given the authority to pick two Divine Protectors.]
[The goddess Ereshkigal is now in your possession.]
[The goddess Amaterasu is now in your possession.]
'...I am the only one in this entire plaza to sign a contract with two gods.'
He then looked at the gathering, knowing no matter who they chose, it would pale in comparison to his group.
Ding!
(Notice! The Divine selection trial has ended.)
(The task master has taken a liking to a particular group that chose well amongst you.)
(You have 2 days to pick your group leader.
Penalty: Deduction of 500 coins hourly until a leader has been chosen.)
(The next quest will begin: 4 days.)
As if waiting to hear those words, a large number of relieved sighs echoed from the crowd as they began to fall to their knees one by one.
Somehow they had survived the third quest; somehow they were alive.
Jayhan couldn't blame them for feeling this way. Since the quests had begun, 4 days is the longest it had ever thrown at them for a cooldown.
Of course, he planned to take full advantage of that; he already knew what the next couple of days would be like, and he was prepared.
Suddenly, he felt Kara's arm wrap around him from the back. He could feel her soft chest pressing against him while she was sniffing his chest.
And then she spoke,
"You are going to be the group leader, right?"
Jayhan already intended on that.
"More or less. Unless anyone has an objection to it." He now turned his gaze to the rest of the group members.
Seo Yuna looked to the side. "I really don't care who gets to be the leader. As long as they do it right."
"Even though I am clearly the favored one to carry out this role, I shall surrender it to you. You might as well thank me for it," replied Adonis.
Jayhan didn't care for his opinion to begin with.
Veronica, on the other hand, didn't really give an answer, but since she giggled and hugged Jayhan's hand, it was safe to say she agreed.
Well, Kara kicked her away a second later, but it was expected.
(Your group has registered a leader.
Leader: Jayhan Grimblade.
Note: Leaders can only be changed upon transfer or death.)
'Good, this has been settled.'
"Babe, now what?" Kara asked, while still hugging Jayhan and using one hand to keep Veronica away. "The taskmaster said 4 days, right? Are we supposed to stay here for four days?"
"Do you think we have a choice? Last I checked, there wasn't any announcement of the monsters clearing up outside this plaza. This is the only safe place in the entire city right now," Seo replied from where she was standing.
Jayhan knew Seo was right. Even in the game, there were a couple of people who decided to explore outside the plaza after food became an issue.
Many of them died.
Outside the plaza were legions of monsters, both small and big. For someone who has barely understood how to use their Divine protectors, it was suicide.
Still… the difference between them and Jayhan was simple—Jayhan knew what would happen and how to counter it.
"Yes and no," he eventually replied.
All eyes fell on him.
"What do you mean yes and no?" Seo glared a bit.
"We'll spend two days here, learning our newly earned abilities and resting up. After that, we'll head outside in two teams.
One will stay behind to watch our stuff, while the other will go out to gather more coins by slaying monsters and then upgrading their stats at the green zone."
They all listened.
"Sounds good to me," Kara uttered, now nibbling on Jayhan's ear.
Adonis chimed in,
"How exactly do you know we get coins from killing monsters?"
Understandable question, since Jayhan was amongst the few that actually got the chance to get in a fight with monsters and come out alive.
"This new world works just like a video game, so I'm sure killing will most definitely give us coins. Call it a hunch."
Adonis eyeballed.
"You're awfully confident for a mere guess.",
"If I am wrong, I will transfer the leadership role to you."
"Very well, human, I accept."
'You're human too, genius…'
"Not to spoil your fun or anything, but you realize we don't have any food, right?" Seo spoke up.
Veronica clapped her hands with a smile.
"Hehehe~ don't worry, we totally have that covered. You're going to be so surprised when you find out."
