"Take care of it," I said and dropped the call.
"What'd he say?" Tara asked.
"He asked if Niall killed Lily," I paused. "I lied."
"You had no choice."
"You're sure the house is safe?" I double-checked.
"It's called a safe house for a reason," she said.
I nodded. "Yeah, you're right."
"It's okay. It's a private property, no one knows it's mine--not even Tony," her words made me sigh in relief.
Tara's fingers drummed the wheel for a few seconds, the silence shrouding us.
"So, what's next?" she asked.
"I need to get Damon to a safe place and then-."
"I meant for us," she interrupted.
I rubbed my temple. "I'm not sure."
She stepped on the brake abruptly, sending me forward with a jerk.
"Ow."
She turned off the engine and faced me.
"I'm sorry, did you do all those things back there without some sort of plan?" she asked.
"Well, I didn't exactly go there in with a plan. Tony killed Lily, and all I could think of was...," I sighed.
