I wiped the wet towel over Damon's body as his chest heaved rhythmically. I rubbed his head and held his hand softly.
"Can you hear me?" I asked.
Silence.
I kissed his hand and stared at him. "I need you, Damon."
Nothing.
My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I took it out. I stood up abruptly, the towel falling to the ground as I stared ta the name on my screen.
Tony.
I walked to the window and peered out the curtain, my heart beating loudly in my chest.
Did he find us?
No, it was impossible. Tara had set up a blocker that'd prevent tracking. What was he up to? The call ended and the screen went black.
Until it rang again, the same name staring at me. I glanced at Damon; he was still sleeping. I walked to the door and closed it behind me. I stared at my phone and blew a breath before answering it.
"You're alive," I said.
A chuckle came from the other end. "Thanks to you."
Silence ensued, as I tried to regulate my breathing.
"How're you?" he asked.
