Chapter 38 - Return Journey

Kaiji thought about the effectiveness of Nao's attack.

'There are only three ways that this kind of attack wouldn't work, One is having Six Path Level power that makes one's body overall stronger that no normal attack would works.'

He acknowledged this was not possible for almost all shinobi, 'For them, there are only left remaining two ways, One is wear a protective Gear on that place, which protect one from this kind of attack.

And another, is to have some kind of training to harden them and make your Balls, Balls of Steel. Otherwise, just stay alert all the time.'

He sighed and finally accepted that there was actually no known training method for this in the Shinobi world, aside from general methods of developing Chakra Control, Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Taijutsu, Stealth, Strategy, and Survival Techniques.

Kaiji shook off these unrelated thoughts.

He went towards Nao and the groaning Ryun. He addressed Nao.

"Nao Onee-san," he said gently, "Calm down. I will take care of him."

He redirected her attention, "We needs to pick up all the items possessed by Bandits group right, so you should help others with that."

Nao took a deep breath, visibly calming her mind and lowering her anger.

She nodded to Kaiji, accepting his suggestion.

With that, Nao, Kuita, Shin, and Sato started collecting all the weapons, money, and other stuff left by the bandits.

They gathered everything to put into Kuita's Storage scroll, as he was the leader of the team for this mission and it was his duty to make the mission report.

Kaiji waited until he saw that everyone was focused on their task at hand.

He then looked at the groaning Ryun with a flicker of pity, but he mocked him.

"Aren't you the same person who likes Assertive types?"

"YO—"

Ryun about to curse in his hoarse voice.

Kaiji quickly took out his Kunai and cut Ryun's throat swiftly while saying softly, "Let me put end to your Misery."

With Ryun dead, he started searching Ryun's belongings.

After finding a few scrolls and some money, he checked which one was the Earth Wall Jutsu Scroll.

Upon finding it, a quiet victory rose in his mind. 'Here it is!' he thought.

He then once again looked at his team and find no one was looking in his direction.

He opened his small storage scroll where he had previously put the swords.

He put the Earth Wall scroll into it as well.

Having secured the jutsu scroll secretly, he afterwards picked up Ryun's Sword, money, and the other scrolls he had found from Ryun.

He took Ryun's corpse towards Kuita.

"Kuita-san," he said, handing over the items, "these are things I able to find after Frisking!"

Kuita checked the items and started to put them into his own Storage Scroll.

After noting that there was no scroll for the Earth Wall Jutsu that Ryun had used, he questioned Kaiji.

"Kaiji," he asked, "didn't you find any other scroll about the Jutsu he has use?"

Upon hearing his question, Kaiji's heart skipped a beat inwardly.

He was obviously scared of getting caught stealing things that should be given to the village.

He knew this kind of act carried heavy punishment.

Kaiji, however, maintained calm expressions on the outside.

"No," he said evenly, "I didn't find any other."

Kuita nodded. He himself then started to search Ryun's Corpse more thoroughly, though he found nothing else of significance.

Other team members also came, carrying all the collected possessions of the bandits.

Kuita commented on the missing scroll.

"Strange," he mused, "how did he know such high level Jutsu, when he himself not even have scroll of it?"

Nao offered a possible explanation.

"Maybe he has learned it before somewhere," she suggested.

"It's not that scroll is important to carry if you know any Jutsu."

Kuita nodded. He got up and then put all the collected things, and even Ryun's Corpse, into his scroll.

"Alright," he announced, "Let's move back."

Kaiji sighed in relief inwardly.

Though he knew that they likely wouldn't suspect him or start searching him without cause, he was still scared by the possibility of getting caught.

Afterwards, the team returned back to the village Sunaka no Sato.

They decided to spend their night there for the day before traveling back to Sunagakure.

The money that belonged to the village and was in the possession of the bandits was given back to the villagers, as this kind of local asset couldn't be taken with them back to Sunagakure.

However, they did take all other items and Ryun's corpse with them to give to Sunagakure along with the mission report.

The next day, they traveled back towards Sunagakure.

Baku and some other Villagers comes to see them off and wishes for safe travel back.

Kuita's injury was deep, as the sword had pierced through his left bicep.

With Nao's first aid, it was only slightly stabilized.

Kuita would have to go to the hospital immediately once they reached the main village.

So, Nao said, "Kuita-san, You should give me the scroll of all items. I will give the mission report to the village.

You should directly go to the hospital once we reach back to Village."

Kuita first said no, but after Nao's persistence, he agreed.

While on their journey back, they talked and chatted about their mission experience.

Shin was particularly excited about his experience, having had a real fight against a ninja.

Even if he wasn't even Chunin level or above but strong and Shin able to fight as a team against him.

Kuita also commented on their luck.

He said, "We were actually lucky that this missing-nin was only Genin Level and not much stronger, otherwise..."

He didn't need to complete the sentence, as all of them knew the implication.

They might not have survived or been talking like this if Ryun had been significantly stronger.

After three days of travel, around late afternoon time, they returned to the village, Sunagakure.

After arriving, Nao made and then gave the mission report to the village with all details.

The team received their pay and even a little extra as a bonus for dealing with a missing-nin.

Kuita first immediately went to the hospital and would probably not be taking missions for some time.

Kaiji also took his pay and returned to his allotted room in the Genin Corps facility.

But then he thought to go towards Hiroshi's room, as Hiroshi had gone on a mission the day before Kaiji did and should be back by now.
