Chapter 6 - Changes

It had been three days since he had started this quest and it seemed some noticeable changes had started showing in him.

Rain looked at his reflection in the bathroom mirror as he continued brushing his teeth, those round jaws had become more refined.

Taking this development into consideration, that was when a thought wandered into Rain's mind, he hadn't checked the body out ever since he started the quest, but he could feel some changes.

After taking his bath, wearing only black pants, Rain walked to the front of the large mirror in the one-room apartment.

What he saw made a surprised expression fill his face.

Aside from the abs that weren't there before, his chest was now rippling with lean toned muscles.

"What is... "

Partly surprised and partly amused, Rain checked out his body.

His frame could now be considered somewhat athletic, just by distributing stat points and a three-day intense exercise, he had developed muscles.

Rain rubbed his smooth abs, his stomach was now flat, all those traces of stomach fat were nowhere to be seen and the muscles felt taut like a stretched string.

"Could my eating habits have caused this?"

Rain looked at the flat stomach and bulging chest, the day was already dusking and he had just had his bath.

Since the time that Rain had woken up, he had been engrossed in the quest, he hadn't even eaten anything since morning.

His eating habits had changed, Since the start of the quest, he had been eating only dinner, but anytime he was about to eat, it was a meal that could easily satisfy two or more people.

"If my calculation is right, I would have jogged 200 km, done squats and press-ups 4000 times today"

In short, he had repeated the Path of Strength quest ten times today.

Rain rested his chin on his fingers while ruminating in front of the mirror.

For some reason, he only felt slightly impressed by what he did, perhaps it had something to do with his leveling up.

As Rain's mind wandered to his status, the window started floating in front of the mirror.

But he noticed something that surprised him, the mirror didn't reflect the window's image.

"How is that?"

Standing in front of the mirror, Rain could see the floating window, but its reflection didn't appear.

All he could see was his reflection and that of the room behind him.

Rain decided to brush off the mystery, and check his status.

[Race] Human

[HP] 350

[MP] 100

[Lv.] 5

[XP] 1050/5500

[Strength] 35

[Agility] 25

[Intelligence] 6

[Constitution] 20

[Perception] 10

[Bonus Stat Points] 10

"My Strength stat has increased significantly"

Seeing this, a smile curled up his lips.

Every time he leveled up, a point was added to all his stats.

That was probably the reason why his intelligence stat increased even though he hadn't even spent a single point on it.

Rain would also like to increase his perception, because lately, he had been feeling its effect.

Rain had only spent four bonus points on it but he could hear distinct footsteps and even voices of his neighbors in their rooms.

He had even started feeling presence, right now, he could tell how many people were walking in the corridor.

"My sense has become heightened noticeably.

My HP has also increased"

A thought slipped into Rain's mind, the fact that he had HP like in video games, did that mean his life span had increased?

He ruminated for a while in front of the mirror.

HP generally means how much damage he could take before being killed, which meant has it increases, he would become harder to kill.

Did that also mean his body's resistance against natural hazards like aging, and ailments had also increased?

Rain didn't think that translated to life span, but then, that was just his own opinion, the system definition of HP might be different.

BUZZ!! BUZZ!!!

Rain turned and went to check the vibrating phone, it turned out to be a message from one of the original body's raid team.

"It seems there is work"

He was just thinking of going to the League headquarters tomorrow for a quest, but it seemed there wouldn't be any need for that.

The message was from a female member, Rouxin, the D rank Healer-class Awakener in the team.

"An E-rank Dungeon, and just for three hundred thousand dollars"

Rain immediately realized why this body was so broke, apart from the high risk in a dungeon, there were also the costly magical gears.

[Ding!]

[+12 Attack power]

[-5 Health]

Rain [equipped] the Demon Razor, this weapon which had cost this body two million dollars had had its blade chipped.

Using it two times more would render it useless against a magic beast, which was why people could barely survive on raiding a low rank dungeon like this.

Especially when in a group, but an Ascender in their right mind wouldn't dare solo a dungeon right?

Well, except in his case, in two days, he would be spawned into an E-rank Dungeon. Rain swallowed a heavy lump at the thought.

After putting on some clothes that had now become fitted, Rain stepped out of the house to get some things in a store.

*****

"What caused this traffic?"

Rain held what he had just bought and stared ahead, The lane was busy with cars and lorries.

Cars' headlights shone in the twilight and different sounds of horns filled the air as more cars joined the queue.

One soldier ran hastily past him towards the back, alerting the drivers who were joining the queue.

"Go back and pass another route, this route is blocked, a C rank Gate has opened, go back!"

More and more soldiers ran to the back and started directing cars and lorries away from the route.

His interest was somewhat piqued, he wanted to catch a glimpse of what a C-ranked gate looked like.

From the memories of the original body, he hadn't seen a C rank Gate before.

A smile curled up Rain's lips as he moved closer towards the Gate.

The traffic had lessened considerably since more and more cars had been redirected away from the route, and because of this, he could see a bunch of soldiers in the front.

"It would become hard to reach there but not impossible"

Rain had [equipped] the forest boots before leaving the house, the pair of magical sneakers he had gotten from the daily chest.

It would boost his agility more and increase his movement speed since he planned to move fast to avoid being apprehended by the soldiers.

Rain started with a jog, slowly shortening the distance between him and the Gate.

As Rain moved past the group of soldiers, he could feel a wave of magic energy surging out from it.

A wave that was enough to knock an ordinary human out, the soldiers seemed to have some magical items provided by the government which helped them withstand it.

Rain jumped a few meters high and landed in front of the Gate, It was a hole of swirling purple energy exuding waves of dense mana.

The wave wasn't refined, at intervals, he could feel dense magical waves colliding with his body, making his bones to become surprisingly heavy as if they would crumple any second.

"It seems I'm not yet strong enough to enter a C rank dungeon"

Rain gritted his teeth, veins popping out of his muscles as he struggled to withstand the surging mana.

"This is the limit of level 5"

His thought was abruptly cut off as a soldier looked back at the Gate and noticed him.

Rain quickly turned back and leapt off, disappearing away from the scene.
