Chapter 15 - The Accident from rooftop

Flash forward

Present time:

INT. CITY HOSPITAL – EVENING – DOCTORS' LOUNGE

Dr. Mahi Shaikh leans back on the break room couch, exhausted after three back-to-back trauma surgeries. Her eyes barely open when Saif walks in — tall, unassuming, in his usual leather jacket.

He places a coffee cup beside her, warm and aromatic.

SAIF (smiling softly):

"You're still running on caffeine and chaos, huh?"

MAHI (smirking):

"What can I say? You criminals give us too much work."

He chuckles — but there's a flicker of something dark behind his eyes. Something unsaid. Something she's never noticed.

SAIF:

"Don't worry, Doc. I'd never hurt you."

MAHI (teasing):

"Thanks. That's comforting — I think."

He watches her a moment too long. She doesn't notice. To her, he's harmless. A street-smart friend who shows up now and then with coffee and stories. Nothing more.

INT. CITY HOSPITAL – NIGHT – ER CHAOS

The glass doors slam open as Nurse Ria storms in, breathless and trembling.

NURSE RIA (yelling):

"Dr. Mahi! Trauma case just came in — roof fall victim. Unconscious. Internal bleeding. Massive blood loss!"

MAHI (rushing forward):

"Vitals?"

NURSE RIA (shaking):

"They're crashing. ID says... Saif."

MAHI (stops dead):

"What?!"

Her heart drops. The name echoes in her ears like a gunshot.

MAHI (stunned):

"He was just here… he brought me coffee…"

Without another word, she sprints toward Trauma Bay Two.

---

INT. TRAUMA BAY TWO – SECONDS LATER

Mahi bursts in, pushing past orderlies. Her breath catches in her throat.

There he is.

Saif.

Blood oozes from a gash on his temple. His shirt is torn, chest bruised, ribs possibly broken. His eyes flutter open for half a second — and land on her.

A weak smile touches his lips.

SAIF (faint whisper):

"Doc…"

MAHI (holding back tears):

"You're going to be okay. I promise."

NURSE:

"He's fading! BP 60 over 30!"

MAHI (snaps):

"OR now! I want cross-match blood, cardiac scan, and trauma team ready. We're not losing him."

---

INT. OPERATING ROOM – LATER

Mahi scrubs in, focused, but inside — she's unraveling.

Why was he on that roof?

Why was he alone?

Why does her chest ache with guilt… when she's done nothing wrong?

She doesn't know that Saif has been in love with her for years.

Doesn't know that he watched her from the shadows.

That the coffee, the friendship, the concern — was all part of an obsession growing in silence.

And now he lies before her… broken.

Possibly because of the very love she never saw coming.
