Evan stares at the description in what felt like ages. He can't believe that this is real. Is he finally getting something that can help him in the stone hill cave?
He closed the book for a bit and the panel disappears. He turns the book around, and there really is nothing that indicates what book it is.
Someone must have left it here in the library right? There's just no way a book this good is just here... Right?
He took the book and turned around. He can probably ask Mrs. Grey if someone owns the book and if he can have it instead. Before he can do so though, he bumped into another person.
There's a yelp, but Evan managed to put out his hand to hold the person's hand before she falls.
They made eye contact, stunned.
"Clara?" Evan was the first to say something.
Clara laughs nervously before steadying herself, taking her hand back. "Sorry, it's my fault. I'm being called by grandma. You know how she is." She didn't need to learn down. She just levitated all of the papers from the ground and took it from the air.
Evan shook his head. "It's okay. I wasn't looking either. Sorry."
The green book that he had fell too, but Clara didn't seem to notice it at all. Instead, she lifted the other two books that he had taken earlier and have it to Evan. "Here, the books that you were holding."
Evan takes it with a slow nod, eyes following the green book on the ground. "Thank you."
Clara follows his line of sight but looks back at him, seemingly not seeing the same thing that Evan is looking at. "No worries! If you need any help at all, let me know! I'll be at the counter all day today. See you!" And with that, she's gone.
Evan watches her retreating form before looking at the book on the ground. He picked it up. It didn't seem like Clara noticed it existed. If she can see it, she would've lifted it up too and gave it to Evan. One of the books he was holding is flew pretty far away from view and Clara was able to hold it.
It means one thing, only Evan can see it.
He stared at the book even more. Then, he sighs. "Iva, you can see what I'm holding right?"
Iva hums. 'Yeah, I can see it. Why are you asking?'
"Clara didn't see it." Evan replied. "If she did, she would've picked it up."
'Does it matter if she can see the book?' Iva asked. 'You found it, you keep it. Isn't that how or what you people used to say from way back?'
"What?" Evan sounded confused.
'I think it was finder's keep- you know what, doesn't matter. You should just say yes. It's a free ability and it's helpful for you too!'
Evan opens the book again. He agrees with what Iva had said. It is helpful. More than helpful too, in fact.
If he can heal, he can survive longer in the stone hill cave. Sure, his mana point is still very minuscule, but it is still helpful.
The void ability of his is something that can be used only when he didn't have any other options, after all. He used it ones and he instantly killed a mortal enemy of watch users too.
There's a small shiver down his back just being reminded of that time.
Evan looked at the question again.

Without any more thinking, Evan nods. "Yes."
When he said his answer aloud, the book hovers in the air, the pages slowly move from right to left as if blown by the wind. It moves slow at first, before slowly gaining speed.
Information flows inside Evan's head, how to properly use the ability, how to use the ability for other targets other than himself, and many others.
By the time the page reached the end, the book closed in front of him and it disappeared before his eyes.
The knowledge remained in his head, seemingly permanently there now. It also felt like he had known about it all his life, almost like second nature.
"Woah..." Was all he could say, unaware that his eyes were in a lighter blue hue before it goes back to his original brown eyes.
'That feeling never gets old~' Iva replies in a sing song tone.
Evan takes a deep breath and grins. "At least I now have something I could help myself with whenever I'm in the cave. I can finally explore later with more risk. It will be more fun!"
A gleeful smile on his face, he took the books he had and had them stamped on the counter. He only borrowed the two books.
He practically run back towards his house to put his book down inside his room. The slow pace of his everyday will be much more bearable from now on, he just knows it.
