Evan rolled his eyes at the silence. He really should be used to this.
Although, Iva did mention that it could be busy decoding what the words meant.
The most logical thing to do was to wait for Iva to be able to tell Evan what the words meant. If it would make it safer for him to understand what the words meant, that would be great.
He wanted to make sure he wouldn't cause any and all possible worry for his parents.
He didn't want them to think more about him when they are already busy thinking about other things to worry about.
However, Evan also wanted to explore. The only other path he had taken was a dead end, which was only possible because he did take all the left turns from them on.
There really was no other paths to explore than these two.
He tapped his left foot in slight impatience. "How much longer do I have to wait, Iva?"
'Two days if you don't shush.' Iva replied with a little huff. 'Maybe thirty to an hour wait if you do shush.'
Evan sighs at the reply he got. That's a long wait. He could just sit still here but he didn't really have enough time to wait. "You know what, I'll take the left one for now and go back later."
He could just go back another way anyway. There was just no way he's letting this entire stone hill cave, dungeon, or whatever this is go fully unexplored.
He will have time later instead, but not now.
After saying that, he didn't really mind not getting a response. He went to the left path, planning on exploring the path for as long as he could until it was time to come back.
The path is a long, straight walk, before turning to the left and another straight walk. There's a forked-path ahead that made him stop. The ceiling is a little higher than the corridor that he came from, but not by much.
'Thirty minutes.' Iva reminds him. And then stayed quiet again. Probably going for the translation again while Evan is preoccupied.
"Thanks for the reminder."
Evan didn't really had his focus on Iva at the moment, but at the path. There are three now. Does that mean the other way before this could also have other choices to go through?
There is another smooth stone before the paths. This time, the words are readable to Evan but it's not in Himea, the language he was taught by his parents and what the books were in.
"There's the path one ought to choose,
With first one ending's full-up bruised.
Second counts will show you green,
On three, no sight's possible in-between."
Evan read it out loud, the words sounding both familiar and foreign on his own tongue. Is it because this is the language he started to understand after Iva read the smooth stone's words outside?
He doesn't really get what they mean. But he saw a book talking about how the past likes their poems, either creating or reading them.
The way the words flow seems like they were meant to be sang.
Evan decided it would be easier to just take the left once again.
So, he did.
He went through. Not too long later, he felt his foot step on something.
Evan's eyes widened but he was able to duck down on the ground.
Just in time too, as a sharp whoosh went past where his head could have been.
When Evan turned behind him, he saw there was an arrow passed embedded on the wall. If he hadn't moved away he would've died.
It really was very, very close.
"Simulation Zone." Evan mutters.
The familiar sound went passed his ear as his surrounding grew a little dimmer. With his intention being to safely move through, he hoped he would be able to move without injuries afterwards.
This is his last use for the Simulation Zone for right now, before rest, at least.
He stands up and began inspecting the walls, from where he is, trying to see if there's any kind of clue.
Then, Evan leans down and looked at the ground, trying to see if there is something different with the part of the ground that his foot pressed.
He used his hand and pressed on it again, which made an arrow fly pass his head.
So, Evan slowly crawls down on the ground. Maybe that will give him better chances?
The moment he crawled three steps worth, he blinked his eyes and he returned back to his position from before.
"Okay... Something is on there." Evan says out loud to himself.
He took a deep breath and continued moving. Whenever he is hit by another trap, usually in a form of an arrow, he goes back.
And again.
And again.
And again.
He was only able to get halfway through the room before Evan realized that there is some sort of pattern for the arrows.
Most of them seem to be coming from the same way, which is straight ahead.
And the floor, because the background is a little darker than it should be, Evan realized that he had to step on the middle of the diamond formation of some of the tiles.
If he's not going to do that, another arrow will fly past.
It was why he was able to sometimes go without having issues through luck. But oftentimes, he would just keep getting hit.
When he got to the end of the hallway, Evan had a sigh of relief. At least he knew how the traps work now.
However, he looks around and he is still in the Simulation Zone. It's supposed to be done by now, but it isn't. He sees a lever that has to be pulled down, which is on the right side of the corridor a few steps from the one filled with traps.
Evan moves to pull it down and he heard rumbling.
That is what made the Simulation Zone disappear and he returns back towards the entrance of the corridor, just like he had been before he had activated his last use.
