Cassandra Ricci - POV
"You can wait for the results at the reception area, Miss. Ricci." Miss. Wix told me once I had performed a few other spells for her.
"Thank you, Miss. Wix." I said before I got up and walked out of the room. As I reached the reception, I saw that it was starting to get crowded. I made my way to the waiting chair and took a seat.
Ting.
I looked down at my phone to see that I had a message from Chris.
Did you get the job? - Chris.
Before I could reply, my phone began ringing when I picked it up. "I am still waiting, Chris," I told him.
"You better secure that job, Cassandra."
"It's not in my hands. You know that very well." I answered when he tisked at me.
"I know about your abilities, Cassandra. If you can kill your father, then you could definitely secure this job as well." My eyes welled up in tears while I bit my lips to prevent the sound that was threatening to come out. I have no idea how he knew about that, no one except my mother knew about this.
"How do you know?" I whispered.
"I have my ways. Now, you better get the job soon and give me a call, or your mother would arrive in a body bag to that small town," he warned me, and before I could say anything, the line was disconnected.
Tears kept flowing down my cheeks and a few passers-by looked at me with concern, but no one approached me as I silently cried. "Miss. Ricci." The receptionist called my name when I quickly wiped my tears away and made my way to her desk. "The results are in," she told me when I felt my heart skip a beat. "Here," she said as she passed a paper.
I took it with trembling hands and opened it, and a smile appeared on my face. It was my appointment letter. I made it, and I couldn't believe it. "Mr. Dimitri also told me to give this to you," she said as she handed over an envelope.
"Thank you," I told her as I took the envelope and made my way back to my seat. As soon as I took a seat, I tore the envelope and took out the letter.
Congratulations on getting this job, Miss. Ricci. But remember, you are going to be on probation until we find you another pack. Your stay duration is three months, and it can be less if we find a replacement.
Your job is to revive all the spells around the border and see if Alpha Bellucci needs you for anything else as well. And under no circumstances should you have any romantic relationship with the wolves, and you are not allowed to take part in any fights there. If the situation worsens, you should leave that pack at once and never look back.
Also, I heard that Alpha Bellucci's wedding is coming up, so make sure you treat the new Luna with respect since you know how wolves would treat us. Don't get mad, and don't talk back.
The letter felt more like a warning than an instruction when I folded it and placed it inside my bag. I think three months is more than enough to do whatever the job Chris requires and get out of there.
I know he needs something from that pack, and even though I have never stolen anything in my life, I think I will do it this once and then get the hell out of there. I walked out of the building when I realized that it had already gotten dark outside, and the traffic had slowed down with an occasional vehicle passing by.
I wanted to call Abigail, but I felt bad. She has already done a lot for me. I looked around to see if I could get a taxi somewhere when a sleek new Ferrari stopped right in front of me. The driver's side door opened and a chauffeur walked out and made his way into the building while I looked at the road to see if I could spot a taxi.
"Are you new here?" I heard a male voice behind me when I turned around to see a man, maybe a few years older than me, standing behind me. He was wearing a three-piece black suit while his muscles strained to tear it apart, with his brown hair styled in a messy way, but what captivated me was his eyes. It was this peculiar shade of blue and green. He looked eerily familiar, but I was not able to figure out where I had seen him.
"Um, yes, I am waiting for a taxi," I told him when he raised an eyebrow at me.
"Well, you should know that taxis don't operate after six in this town," he replied.
"Oh, I didn't know that," I said. I think I should just call Abigail then.
"I can give you a ride home." he offered when I looked up at him. From the power that is being emitted from him, I know that he is a wizard, and a powerful one as well.
"No, that's all right. I think I will call my friend." I told him.
"I insist, Miss. Ricci," he said when a shocked look appeared on my face. I never gave him my name, so how did he know who I was?
"How do you know me?" I asked him.
"Well, we went to high school together. Even though we were in completely different grades, I can never forget a face as beautiful as yours."
"I still don't know who you are." I asserted.
"Arlo Dimitri," he said.
"You are Mr. Dimitri's son?" I asked him when he nodded his head. I felt so stupid for not knowing him. He was the son of one of the heads, and I didn't even recognize him.
"I am sorry if I didn't recognize you, Mr. Dimitri."
"Please call me Arlo, Miss. Ricci."
"Then call me Cassandra," I told him when he nodded his head.
"So, shall we leave?"
"I don't want to…"
"I am not asking for your permission, Cassandra. It's getting dark, and I don't think it's safe to stay out here this late." he insisted, and I know that I cannot object, so I nodded my head. He walked down the few steps and made his way to the Ferrari and opened the door for me.
"Thank you," I told him when he nodded his head. Once I was inside, he made his way to the driver's seat and then drove out of there.
