I gave my last paper of BS English and I went to a school for an interview. But here they judged me just because I was nervous and inexperienced. They gave me an assistant position. I was scared. I lost; I couldn't even remember. I came home after signing papers but some documentation was left. I don't know, as a student like me who always gets good marks, why I accepted this. I also don't know why I was scared. I was totally lost the whole day, worried. But before I went, I decided not to join. I received a call and I said, "I am sorry, I don't know about the job description. I can't continue, sorry." And I cut the call. After that, I totally remained lost because people around me said, "Are you stupid? This is the biggest school of our city. How could you do this?" I thought it cost me my self-respect. I am not even enough to teach nursery students, yet they were making me an assistant.
After some days, I applied through an online platform. Six schools from the city called me but none of them offered enough salary because I had already rejected the biggest school of the city. So I decided to work in the best school according to HEC. The school where I went previously was based on Cambridge International Examination, but now the school that offered me a job is based on the local examination board and is considered one of the top schools in the local examination system. I decided to continue here.
I reached the school and went to a person who was sitting on a chair. I asked, "Sir, I came here for an interview. You people called me." I don't know, but I was not scared at this place. He said, "Wait." He stood up from the chair and a person who was sitting in a car, I think going somewhere, reached that person and talked for some time. Then that person came out of the car and came to me and said, "I am the Principal here." I said, "I came here for an interview. You called me." He stopped and looked at me with strange eyes like he was shocked at something. Then he asked, "Have you ever taught in any school?" I said no, "No, but I give home tuition. I teach different subjects." He said, "Ok, fill a form and go to the upper portion here. You will meet the head and then give a trial here for higher classes." I said, "Ok." He started moving but suddenly he stopped and looked at me and said, "If you are not selected for the higher section, you can give a trial at the ground portion for junior classes." I said, "Ok." And he left.
I was given a form and I filled this form here. Then a person who gave me the form asked some questions. He asked, "What do you do?" I said, "I am a home tutor." He asked, "How much do you earn?" I said, "Around 25 thousand." He stopped and looked at me with strange eyes like he was confused why I was here. Then I realized after some days why he was looking at me like that. He said, "Ok, go to the upper portion." I said, "Ok, thank you." He was one of the most rude persons I have ever met in my life, like how someone can be so strange.
Then I reached the upper side and near the head office where 5 women were sitting. They welcomed me so politely that I was shocked. They were quite old; 3 were above 45, one above 40, and one above 30, I think. I am the youngest and also very short in height; I look like a 10th class student. They didn't look at me strangely; they welcomed me like they were waiting for me to come. My fear disappeared immediately because of their behavior. They said, "You are so beautiful and we can't believe you have completed graduation. You look so short, like a 9th class student." They took my interview then they said, "Now go to classes for a trial. You are teaching temporarily here as an alternative for a teacher who took leave for her marriage. She will come on 1st March 2025 and since then you will work here." They said, "You want to get experience so in these days your experience will be completed." I excitedly said, "Ok."
I reached the 9th class and they said, "Teach us conjunctions." I taught them and they said it was really good. Then I went to the office and they said, "Now the time is 9 o'clock. You have to teach here since 2 o'clock and if any person comes with you, tell them to go back home." I said, "Ok." I came here with my cousin and said to him, "You go, I will call you." Then I reached again the upper side. They sent me to the 10th class. Here the students said, "Teach infinitives and gerunds." The students of that class are extremely brilliant and toppers but also very good in character. I taught them and they liked my lecture. Then they sent me to Pre-9th. Then they sent me to 7th class.
At the end, I reached the office and I said, "Now what next?" She said, "Sit down. You are really a good teacher. You came here as an angel. We need teachers so much and you came." She didn't know what my education was and how I came. Because all the people sitting in the office have an old education background, they don't know about new education. She said, "What is your education?" I said, "BS English." She said, "Two years?" I said, "No, four years." She looked at me and said she was writing something. "Now you go to the principal's office and give the final interview." I moved but she called me and said, "All the best."
I reached the principal's office. I knocked on the door and then went inside. I gave the paper to the principal. He looked at me with proud eyes and said, "Sit down, Miss." I sat down. He said, "Your marks were so good. You teach very well. I heard so much appreciation about you. Your marks remained very good throughout your academic journey. You are a good student. It is really good for our students if you teach them." I said, "Thank you." Then he started asking questions, the same questions that the head asked me but he added some more questions about my personal life, hobbies, and about my professors.
Then an old man who was sitting in front of me and talking with the principal when I came sat on the sofa. He was listening to the talk between me and the principal. The principal was young, married, and had two daughters but he was still very young. He listened to me with full attention and praised my answers. I also don't know why I was not scared here; I was so relaxed but in my first interview I thought I was going to die. Then the old man interrupted me and asked some questions. I answered them and he started praising his granddaughter's marks, saying "My granddaughter in graduation got this GPA." The principal interrupted and said, "She got enough, sir." He said, "Really?" The old man said, "It is a great pleasure if she teaches here." Then he said, "We are a bit old people so you buy these things, some legal documents and some old files, and you are here from 17 January 2025 to 28 February 2025 till our teacher comes. In our first meeting you said you want to get experience of higher classes. This will be your experience and our students will get guidance from you because you got really good marks in all your classes." And he smiled, not ironically, but politely. I said, "Ok, thank you, sir."
I think why he said "we are old" I realized these things after some days. Most of the things I realized after some days.
